People will moan and groan that Matthew Perry is miscast as the slob Oscar Maddison, the role made famous on stage and screen by Walter Matthau, but what they fail to see is that a highly gifted comic actor is bringing something brilliant to the role.

This episode highlights all of that. The script is sharp, and by episode four now the chemistry between him and Thomas Lennon is on top form.

There are lots of funny moments in this episode, as well as some nice attempts to flesh out the supporting cast so that it's more of an ensemble and not all on Perry/Lennon's head.

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Oscar's female assistant takes the lead in this episode when she shows her depression regarding her upcoming high school reunion and the fact that she is still single. The guys go to bat for her and attempt to get her a guy.

The action takes place at some local bar and naturally we meet all sorts of weird people there. Each introduction to a guy turns out to be an absolute disaster, but wait until you see with whom she starts to blend with.

What is problematic here is that I'm beginning to feel that Matthew Perry has been miscast for the role of Oscar. Perhaps, I'm comparing him to the late Jack Klugman, but the latter was Oscar in every sense. Perry doesn't even have that slob-like appearance and acting like one.
