Tarantino Reference?
ant-2830810 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I am not here to write a actual review, but rather to submit a theory about a possible reference that was made in this episode and I would like to have the opinions of other people. This episode was directed by Lucy Liu. Since she played an important role in Tarantino's Kill Bill and since Tarantino is known to usually incorporate scenes where we see one or two characters look down into a car trunk / box / other, while they hold open that container, I was wondering if the scene where Dt. Bell and Sherlock look down into the tunnel in the apartment was actually a reference to Tarantino or any of his movies. I might be completely out of place, but when I saw this scene, it struck me that it would have been a great reference, knowing that Lucy Liu directed it. Anyway, I would appreciate any second opinion!

Recovering the Story Line
USN-Retired15 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It is interesting that writers never leave a good thing be. So it was that the character Kitty appeared on the scene, upsetting an otherwise wonderful series. Finally, it seems the writing staff has taken into account the results of tinkering with a proved formula. Kitty has now gone away, back to London, and the storyline is coming back to its roots. The stage is now set for Watson to move back into the brownstone with Sherlock, admitting she is just as much a misfit as her mentor. Let us hope that the near fatal experiment in tinkering has been washed out of the writing group's system. It will be well for Sherlock and Watson to again form the team that works best. That said, Ophelia Lovibon (Kitty) was terrific, even if her character was misplaced. It is hoped that we will see more of her, but the character fit for Elementary just didn't work.

Back to form

While the cliffhanger from last episode was resolved rather anticlimactically, the story was interesting, and the show seems to be back on its feet and functioning the way it should be. The case was interesting, creative, and inventive, and the characters were back in character, instead of whatever the hell they were doing for the first 8 episodes of the season.

Female of the Species: Back to Doyle
elvoycehooper13 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I am happy to see this episode return to the genre popularized by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I loved the series from the start but it gradually introduced to much "soap opera" elements on Joan Watson's love life and a overemphasis on Sherlock Holmes' drug problems. The British Version has kept the proper perspective. The British has not became soap ope rash but integrated Watson's love of adventure with his love life. He unconsciously picked a reformed hit woman to marry. Even though I continue to enjoy the series I was loosing enthusiasm. Other viewers seem to have felt the same as the rating were declining. This episode seem to be taking Elementary back to it's roots and my enthusiasm is returning.
