All change.

Who on Earth would kill a leading man, when a band long since split looks like reforming.

I thought this was a bit of an average episode, it's ok, but I feel like it's missing something, the obvious missing piece, being Camille. The mystery is pretty average, it's one of those that's a little too far fetched, it's nicely made and well acted of course, but after the previous clsssic episode, this one was just a bit of a stretch.

This would be the format of the show for some time to come, JP and Dwayne, Florence now promoted, w slightly rocky start for all concerned, but things would settle.

Humphrey was better here without Camille to moon over, but I thought his encounters with JP were a bit daft. Florence definitely looks the part, a beautiful girl, and JP is a very handsome guy, efforts to make the characters appealing on the eyes.

I'd forgotten all about this one if I'm honest, 6/10.

No great loss for the murder. It was a pretty crappy band anyway

With the Sudden departure of Sara Martins (Camille) you can clearly see that the producers needed to sex the show up. Step in Josephine Jobert (Florence) with a totally 'out of the blue' promotion to Detective Sergeant. This means she can now ditch the Police uniform and replace it with some less restrictive, casual clothing! This is highlighted by the camera work, which now appears to be set lower down. Either that or the camera operator has shrunk!

The introduction of Tobi Bakare comes as a breath of fresh air.

The worst of the series so far!

Warning: Spoilers
"Death in Paradise" was a great series, when it started. The first two seasons with Ben Miller were an absolute blast. After Miller "left" the show, "Death in Paradise" has not been the same. The third season was unimpressive in the first half with "The Wrong Man" being almost embarrassing. Same thing seems to be happening with the fourth season. "Stab in The Dark" was pretty good, but after that there has not been an episode like it. "Until Death Do You Part" was solid, but had problems. "Swimming in Murder" on the other hand is easily the weakest of the series. Not because of Camille not being in this entry- this episode has more bigger problems.

Let's start with redeeming qualities, shall we?

. The production values are great as usual in this entry. The episode is mostly competently shot and the music for the most part fits the scenery. The main cast does a solid job. Kris Marshall's fine, Josephine Jobert's good and so is Danny- John Jules. Also did not mind Tobi Bakare's performance.

. The setting of this murder mystery- the rock band studio- was intriguing and there are moments of charm here and there.

But....

. This is one of the few times in "Death in Paradise", where the direction, some of the music and acting are unimpressive. There are a couple of weird areal shots and camera angles to be found here. Also the guest stars give mostly mediocre performances. Was very disappointed at Sally Phillips, who was unfortunately awful in this episode.

. The story itself is an uninteresting mess with lifeless characters, boring red herrings and humor, which is at times cringe-worthy. Florence is shown to be an instant love interest for Goodman. That idea came too soon and felt forced to me.

. The solution too was pretty obvious (Thunders did for money) and the motive felt done in other episodes already.

Overall, a terrible episode.

3/10 HK
