Just wow, super engaging and the wheels for Bruce are finally turning

Warning: Spoilers
Let me say this first, this is my first watch through, I'm late to the party and I've seen stills from the finale of the batsuit but nothing else. I am LOVING this show. Penguin is the best villain that you feel bad for him most of the time. Gordon is great as always this episode and they seem to have found a good balance in his white knight side. My biggest problem thus far from this show was Bruce.

Every Bruce storyline felt weak and half assed but FINALLY we see traits in Bruce that slightly resemble those of the billionaire playboy turned crime fighter. I'm so glad he got more of a storyline this time around and that he's not as helpless. He still seems to be weak and gullible, but things are changing. Selina is okay, I wish that they used her in other storylines for now because I want to see Bruce grow into the role of Batman without her, but I'd assume when he becomes Batman, she'll just know or be helping already.

Now let's talk the big bad.... Gallavan. Unfortunately, he's the worst villain thus far. I think Jerome was the closest thing this show has had to a great villain. The only reason I don't count penguin is because he teeters on the edge and you root for him. As for our new bad guy? He's horrible. He's not scary, he's incredibly obvious when he lies and it's hard to believe he really has everyone in his back pocket and 500 contingencies for every possible outcome. His niece was more interesting because at least you couldn't tell when she was lying or not. Hope that he's taken care of soon and that a new villain can rise.

This episode in general? Incredible. From start to finish I was engaged, I gasped out loud a few times, I was fooled by Bruce and I thought the cult stuff was mildly interesting. This episode felt more like the telltale Batman game which is a huge compliment. I really hope the rest of the season keeps up with this type of episode! Definitely want to see more Barbara too, not familiar with her character in the comics but still thrown as to how she'll end up being the mother to Gordon's child!

Although I have my problems with the villain, everything else is still so good. I'll admit I was very skeptical but finally giving in and watching this show was a really good choice. I think this season is far better than the first in terms of feeling less like a cop drama and more like a show about Gotham city. You need a little camp here and there.
