Exciting and interesting episode with Galavan's war with the Wayne's hotting up and a famous Batman villain arrives.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode of Gotham was better than last weeks with less camp and more thrills plus the real reason behind Galavan's war with Bruce comes to light and another member of Batman's rogue gallery arrives.

Being forced to help Theo Galavan(James Frain)and sister Tabitha(Jessica Lucas)because they are holding his mother captive Cobblepot(Robin Lord Taylor)along with Butch(Drew Powell)have been told to kidnap Wayne Enterprises worker Sid Bunderslaw to get something Galavan needs in his quest to bring down Bruce Wayne and Tabitha removes one of his eyes.

The strike force led by Barnes(Michael Chiklis)and Gordon(Ben McKenzie)lead a raid on a Cobblepot money laundering factory.Just after Galavan arrives at the GCPD and in exchange for cleaning up the force's corruption wants Jim's support for his mayor candidacy which Jim politely refuses.

Tabitha asks Cobblepot to hire some arsonists to get into a Wayne Enterprise building which leads to Butch and Selina Kyle(Camren Bicondova)hiring the Pike brothers(Joe,Cale and Evan)to do the job though Selina isn't happy at the abuse the brothers inflict on their sister Bridgit(Michelle Veintimilla)who is Selina's childhood friend.Just after Evan is chased by Gordon and the cops and is accidentally blown up when a explosive he hid in his pants explodes.

Because of his death the other two brothers force Bridgit to take over in doing the job or they will force her out onto the streets. She infiltrates the building and uses Bunderslaw's eye to open a vault containing what Galavan wants a ancient knife. We find out from a antique shop owner not only the history of the knife but find the true reason for why Galavan is trying to bring down Bruce Wayne as we see a flashback to a incident involving a member of Galavan's ancestors who were once known as the Duma family who was involved with a member of the Wayne family and after he is accused of sexual assault the Duma member and his family were exiled and all their properties were taken by the Wayne's and the Dumas change their name of course to Galavan.

Seeing this will be to his advantage Cobblepot tells Butch to pretend to work for Galavan and tells him to say Cobblepot has gone mad and thrown him out to secretly find Cobblepot's mother,to make this work Cobblepot chops off Butch's hand to make it look like Cobblepot really has lost his marbles.

After a robbery involving the Pike's goes wrong Bridgit finds herself on the run with Selina after Bridgit accidentally burns a police officer to death in front of Gordon and Bullock(Donal Logue)meanwhile Galavan gets his support from Gordon after all when Jim realises he needs his help in stopping corruption before we see a mysterious monk named Father Creel(Ron Rifkin)turn up at Galavan's telling him the warriors are on the way and Bruce Wayne will die via the knife.

A exiting episode that constantly keeps us on our toes and great we finally learn the reason Galavan wants to harm a teenage boy plus his evil nature is better this time around even making Cobblepot(The Penguin)do what he wants. Also love the introduction of Bridgit who accidentally becomes Firefly one of Batman's villains.

The acting was better this week and not so camp as last week with McKenzie on form as Gordon,Frain slimy as Galavan(even if I still don't like him much),Taylor sublime as Penguin and though I never mentioned him in the plot Cory Michael Smith as Ed Nygma is excellent as ever who asks Kristen Kringle on a dinner date with Gordon and Lee(Morena Baccarin)even if this relationship you believe is doomed. For me though the finest person on show was Veintimilla who plays Bridgit who because of her sad life with her abusive brothers has the viewer thinking of those who go through this in real life and proves slavery is a very real thing and brings a rare episode in Gotham that has people watching feeling very emotional and hoping she gets away from them, the actress is outstanding as a downtrodden young lady and glad she returned.

Action and thrill wise this was a cracker whether its Gordon and co trying to bring down the bad guys and Cobblepot, the back-story of the Duma/Wayne family war or the superb side story of the Pike brothers and Bridgit with that awesome finale seeing her in that Firefly suit for the first time with fire gun spraying everything with flames it was all great to watch, possibly the most action packed season 2 episode so far.

This episode again proves the much better quality between season one and two with better believable acting, more screen time for the bad guys(including a superb new one),less camp and lots of comic book thrills and explosive action keeping the viewers hooked.

A lotta plot

Warning: Spoilers
Plot; As Theo Galavan's race for the Mayor's office heats up, his family's connection to the Waynes is revealed.

Commendably keeps a lot of plot plates spinning with most of the threads weaving together into the story at large. The Nygma/Kringle stuff would seem superfluous if not for the fact it's building the foundation for Nygma's ultimate turn down the road.
