Bridal Wave is wonderful!
abcj-220 February 2020
Bridal Wave is one of my favorite Hallmark movies. It still comes on fairly often and I highly recommend thanks to the cast, chemistry, and humor. Andrew Walker always gives his best. Arielle Kebbel, especially when paired with Walker, is perfectly cast. I watch this one often and consider it a favorite. Highly recommend!

Dynamic Duo Star in new Hallmark Valentines Romance
rebekahrox20 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler alert to follow the letter of the law only. Come on, this is Hallmark: We all know how this is going to go down.

Arielle Kebbel and Andrew Walker team up again for another Hallmark Romance after 2012's highly rated (for a Hallmark!) "A Bride for Christmas." I didn't think I'd like this at first because the heroine was too gorgeous and the story was crazy predictable. The characters were even more so. Stodgy but successful workaholic fiancé? Check. Snobby disapproving future mother-in-law? check. Cute rebel outside the lines rival for her hand? Check. Nice middle-class family of the bride worried that their oldest daughter is going to become an "Old Maid"? Check. Arielle, however, proved to be down-to-earth, irreverent, and funny. The script served her well. She was surprisingly relatable despite her beauty. The hero was very attractive with a lot of charm. Jaclyn Smyth added nothing. Still beautiful, she obviously has had some work done, but still looks fairly natural. She should have been more evil to get that tension and suspense ratcheted up a bit . Nice "One Year Later" epilogue: Very Sweet with some amusing little touches.

Charming wave
TheLittleSongbird22 March 2023
My main reason for seeing 'Bridal Wave' was for Hallmark completest sake, started watching their work as undemanding escapism (or at least that was the intent) back around 2019. Focusing solely on their Christmas output for a while and then watching overtime their other seasonal blocks. Have seen Arielle Kebbel and Andrew Walker in other things, and while Kebbel is take and leave for me Walker in my view is one of the best and most consistent Hallmark regulars.

The premise was one that did sound quite cute but also potentially thin, was hoping that it would be closer to sweet and charming in alternative to cheesy and awkward. Luckily, 'Bridal Wave' is the former a vast majority of the time, although there are occasional instances of the latter. As far as the first half of 2015 goes for Hallmark's output goes, 'Bridal Wave' is one of the better faring ones. There were better Hallmark films that year and Walker continued to mature with each film, but there were also far worse.

Did think that it did have some awkward moments and that went at times a little overboard with the cheese. Especially with Jaclyn Smith's character, who as a character is pretty unbearable. Overbearing, rude and selfish, as well as too much of a snob, and Smith for my tastes overacted as well and came over as very cartoonish.

Pacing is not always there, with it starting a little on the slow side and yes the film is predictable, like at the end.

However, there is a lot to like about 'Bridal Wave'. Both Kebbel and Walker are solid as rocks in their roles, especially Walker as the more interesting and likeable character. Just loved his usual easy going charm and while he did mature as an actor he at least looks comfortable and has a sweet gentle chemistry with perky and emotive Kebbel (actually thought she dealt with the dramatic parts fine). The supporting cast generally were fine, excepting Smith and with amiable David Haydn-Jones (also a later Hallmark regular) coming off best, and the characters did interest and weren't too perfect or over-negative (except once again Smith).

'Bridal Wave' is attractive visually, especially the scenery, is directed with assurance and the music appeals on the ears and isn't the over loud or over constant stuff heard a lot. Furthermore, the writing mixes genuinely funny, playful humour and warm-hearted, non sugary drama a lot better than most Hallmark films, with it being pretty expertly. While predictable and not always perfect in pacing, the story more than delivers on the light hearted-ness, warm heart and charm, with it going at a lively enough pace. It doesn't feel too neat either.

Nice on the whole. 7/10.

Another Satisfying Hallmark Romance
littlelo9425 April 2015
I watched this movie purely because I saw that Arielle Kebbel and Andrew Walker were together again. Like every girl who saw it, "A Bride for Christmas" is one of my favorite Hallmark romances.

While it wasn't as good as their previous movie together, "Bridal Wave" was still a really good effort.

Arielle was, as ever, a strong female lead, and she made the audience sympathize with her. Her character was sweet and dependable, yet she had the right amount of spunk to combat Andrew's character. While I hated the buzz cut that Andrew Walker was sporting, he was still charming and funny, and I really liked how he came to see something in Arielle's "Georgie".

The penultimate confrontation made me laugh and I really enjoyed how the movie ended. It wasn't cliché which was a breath of fresh air.

The gorgeous surrounding scenery was also a plus.

Well done, Hallmark.

Why?
nmv3317 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The movie is good, good acting, good locations but one thing I hated was his sandals, always in his sandal and when the wedding scene arrived I was shock he wore the sandals those horrible sandals. The wardrobe department ran out of money? Otherwise another typical Hallmark movie.

I agree, another great Hallmark RomCom!
huggibear12 April 2017
I didn't know the Groom's mother was Jaclyn Smith (One of the original Charlie's Angels). I wish I would have recognized her when I was watching the movie. The guy who played Luke is cute too! My favorite part of this movie is when the Bride said to her Groom 'We don't have what most people who are in love have'. I knew she meant a romance and flame....well, he was married to his profession. Thanks Hallmark for a cute flick!

Not bad, BUT.....
SamPamBam26 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As Hallmark productions go, this is rather typical, and quite pleasant fare for those us desiring to not be dizzied by millenial directors/cinematographers and their camera operators who think tossing a camera around a set makes for good cinema, or screenwriters who have every single character be sniveling entitled little jerks who preface every sentence with the EFF word...no blood and guts no dark evil clowns...just pleasant (and yes, contrived) sunday afternoon fare... Now with that said, this one hits all the marks... BUT.... BUT...BUT... I know for a fact i'm not the only one to be unsettled by the fact that jaclyn smith's snotty and rude character did Not get her come uppance, which she So Very Richly Deserved... Now We are all sure jaclyn smith is a wonderful kind lady...but she was never that good an actress to pull this off-she simply had to be bringing out some natural true nature to be #THAT. FREAKING. RUDE Come on hallmark, make a movie where rude skinny little jackie has to do community service coaching 9 year old cheerleaders for violating Dr/Patient confidentiality, or for leading the highway patrol on a high speed chase thru 4 counties, then resisting arrest.

Then we can all sleep better.

It's Cute If You Need To Waste Some Time
sirenamartel7 January 2022
Hallmark movies are for entertainment purposes only. They have replaced the torrid, racy novels I used to read in high school. There's not alot of substance or plot to them but the characters are good looking. Andrew Walker is my favorite Hallmark movie actor hands down. He is hot and that's all that matters to me. Other people complained about Arielle Kibbel but she's fine. They are fine together. The plot was a little thin but it was fine. I would watch it again.

A perfect and predictable Hallmark, Movie
mrocco-122 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Here is the thing. Those of us that love Hallmark movies know what we are getting into, and we love it. I'm so tired of the negative comments against these type of movies. If Hallmark isn't your cup of tea then don't watch them. They are my favorite kind of tea.

***SPOILERS**** This is a story about finding someone who values the right things. Contrary to another reviewer, our hero is not a loser. He is a guy who has been successful, but taken a break to find himself. Since when does that make one a loser? He owns a home and is a wonderful hero for our movie. It's a story about not getting married because it makes 'sense', but because of the unexplainable connection that you feel with the right person. Another reviewer commented on wealthy snobs winning over everyday people. Huh? The movie is the opposite of that, sounds like bitter grapes to me (or total immaturity). It's the journey of three people, two of whom are not seeing clearly and it took the presence of the third character and his absolute certainty to bring clarity to all three. What is so great about this story is that none of our three main characters are 'bad' and all of them end up with what/who they really want.

**1/2
edwagreen25 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Why I wasn't exactly thrilled with this film? When you think of it, snooty Jaclyn Smith got exactly what she wanted when this marriage didn't come off. It is as if it is a victory for the wealthy snobs against the everyday people. Yes, it is fact that such a marriage was destined not to be, but this is how I feel.

I just loved the way our doctor gave in when his bride to be called things off. It was as if he couldn't wait to jump ship. Working together for 4 years, you would think that the doctor and nurse would come to realize that something wasn't just right about them.

In very typical Hallmark fanfare, she meets her true love while at the resort and how convenient that our good doctor's time is taken up.

Another standard Hallmark formula wedding flick *Spoilers--duh*
data_male24 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
What is it with Hallmark movies and female protagonists marrying the wrong guy? In Bridal Wave, beautiful and intelligent George Anne is engaged to her handsome, brilliant plastic surgeon co-worker, with whom she enjoys such a rapport that they both comment on the fact that they've never had a fight. So naturally, she will meet up with a complete loser, and fall in love with him instead. Luke is a non-conformist architect who refuses to play by anyone's rules. We know this because he wears flip-flops everywhere, and refuses to take any job that requires him to socialize with clients, yet he somehow has enough spare change to afford a house next to a five star wedding destination hotel, and make beautiful hand-crafted wooden benches to leave in the middle of nowhere. Naturally, the mother-in-law is overbearing, and George's mother is smothering in her attempt to live out her wedding vicariously through her daughter. Predictably, Luke and George will wind up together, despite the fact that he is an unemployed, anti-social jerk.

I loved it !
hurmat_fatima26 April 2016
Please don't go after the reviews you see ! It was such a good movie. One of the best from Hallmark. It might have been predictable for some but whats wrong with that when its such a perfect one ? Andrew Walker and Ariella Kebel have become my favorites after watching this movie. I wish there were more movies like this one that pleasantly surprise you and sort of make you believe that the right one is out there and you don't want someone who just suits you, but someone who genuinely cares about you and loves you for who you are. Bridal Wave is one of those movies for me which you can watch over and over again and still feel good about them. Its one I will remember for a long time.

No spark
Jackbv12327 June 2017
Future Mother-in-law Felice is so rude that it's over the top.

Arielle is barely adequate as an actress. One scene where she starts to cry, she butchers it. Otherwise, she just seems to be coasting through the movie.

The movie just has no spark. The whole thing is awkward. So many of the scenes are supposed to be comical but they are awkward.

And really no surprises to spice things up. Just no spark.

The Best

So much better than the rest. All the characters were relateable, good acting, interesting setting and there was actually some good dialogue. These writers need to be hired more often. Very enjoyable and not annoying at all.

Watch with the sound off - contains spoilers
caseybones22 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The good: The scenery is wonderful and I'd love to see it in person.

The bad: pretty much everything else. If you couldn't figure out the ending in the first ten minutes, you've never seen one of these insipid Hallmark movies.

Every character was a caricature, the work-possessed fiancé, the evil mother-in-law to be, the perky heroine at odds with her future, the too-good-to-be-true hero (her soul mate, naturally) and the cutesy mom and pop.

And all of this overlaid with nonstop, constant, loud, cutesy music. There isn't five minutes of this flop that has silence in it. Hasn't anyone at Hallmark heard the expression "less is more"?

This is 2 hours of my life I will never get back. What a waste.

Arielle Kebbel is great, along with supporting cast
dpatt-5445513 June 2020
A favorite of mine because the story is a bit out of the ordinary for Hallmark (don't worry, it's mostly the same happy-ending lovable pop-writing that we love and adore). Arielle Kebler is underutilized by Hallmark. She's acting great, creates a believable character, and shows progression. So does her supporting cast, led by J. Smith who must have sold her soul or first-born to remain so beautiful through time! Mr. Walker is the William Holden of Hallmark and will always deliver. This does more than the average Hallmark to set the brand. Anyone should enjoy it.

VERY VERY BORING!!
cookieh20149 January 2021
There was no spark btwn the leads and the main lead looked like she didn't want to be there. Andrew was trying to over compensate for the low boring energy btwn him and his co-star. Very boring. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!

One of the best movies from Hallmark
ccali-5145230 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely loved this movie. Both Walker and Kebbel have fabulous chemistry. Clever writing and believable. Parents are great and well-cast. Without giving away the plot, it was a nice change of pace to see a romance NOT based on two people that connected (as opposed to those where little smiling girls need a new mommy or daddy). Refreshing and perfect for many who are not love-struck brides to be.

Hallmark...Where Infidelity Is Standard, But Charming
edward-052541 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Once again, Hallmark proves that no male character has honor. If one meets a woman in a relationship, even if she's getting married day after tomorrow, it is perfectly okay to pursue her with a full court press as long as it is done with what passes for charm.

In this particular episode of Mad Libs, we see that the cuckolded groom is part of his own demise, yet again. And yet, what has a surface veneer of family values, actually celebrates not only self-centeredness but the absolute lack of boundaries. Intriguing characters and landscapes only go so far if fundamentally, the mores are on a par with Housewives TV shows and the baser of reality TV.

Kebble and Walker together again plus David Hadyn-Jones
jewhitmer2529 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was practically giddy with delight when I saw the cast of this movie.

I love Andrew W. Walker in everything he does and was thrilled that he was again paired with Arielle Kebble who I first saw in 'A Bride For Christmas" one of my favorite HM movies. They were truly marvelous.

Plus David Hadyn-Jones, fell in love with him when I watched "Bramble House Christmas" with Autumn Reeser, one of the best movies I have seen him in. He is a fantastic actor.

It was also exciting to Jaclyn Smith again, I always thought that she was the most beautiful actress in Hollywood.. She did a great job as the overbearing and disaproving mother of the groom. She is such a talented actress and still beautiful.

Plot Arielle Kebble as Georgie Dwyer is marrying David Hadyn-Jones as Phillip Hamilton, her plastic sirgeon fiancé, whose career constantly interferes with their wedding festivities.

Trying to avoid her future mother-in-law and a dress fitting for the size 2 Vera Wang wedding gown chosen by who else but the smother in-law to be.

While making her escape she jumps into a pickup driven by Andrew W. Walker as Luke Griggs, a handsome,, disillusioned architect .who makes her question her choice of groom.

My advice: Watch this movie.

Very funny, capable & charismatic leads, and out-of-type Jaclyn Smith plays a B word to perfection.
imdb-2528830 September 2023
The entertainment value here is a 10. I channel surfed in the middle of this on my way to watch some reality show during commercial break, and paused to watch this. I never unpaused. I never stop on this Hallmark Channel because just like Lifetime, more often than not, nobody can act and the scripts are so cheesy and always the same. (I used to have a TV that only received a handful of channels and LMN was one of them and was stuck watching and agonizing over the bad acting but not here.)

Jaclyn Smith, who must be well over 75 years old and has not a wrinkle in sight, can be off-putting here, at first, and then you realize that you're not watching a b word you're watching her play a character that is so against her usual polite, prim & proper type that she has played her entire career, that you kind of tend to forget and you think you're watching a reality show and that's the real her and that is how good her acting is here; she is actually so much fun to watch and she's funny too in fact this comedy actually gets me to laugh out loud many times and that was unexpected for a hokey movie from the Hallmark Channel. I bet Jaclyn had a fun time doing this and probably apologized many times to the other actors that would imagine.

The two leads are actually charismatic and can act and this little movie was actually a fun way to pass time and get a few laughs. 10/10 for the entertainment value and don't skip it if you channel surf into it. The actors who played the bride's parents are pretty good and I did not understand those who are playing the young M&M were supposed to be, her brother and sister or what was the deal with those two? But I got the movie in the middle; anyway pretty good in the hokey pictures department it can't get better than this. No don't tell any of my friends that I watched this cheesy channel or else!

Funny
flashtx-8951012 January 2024
This is a great movie that had me laughing on many occassions. The addition of Jacky Smith as the monster in law to be, was equally funny and a great addition. The supporting cast does a great job of keeping the movie lively and funny. The movie has some great scenery and playful banter that keeps you smiling from beginning to end.

You will root for the wrong couple throughout the movie hoping for a truly romantic ending. Andrew Walker is one of my favorite actors and puts in a grade A performance opposite of Arielle Kebbel who also puts in a grade A performance. Great romantic comedy that you can enjoy more than once!
