One of the best AC's
pk123315 June 2020
This is one of the best AC games in my opinion. To be fair, I have not played through all of them, but this one has far superior combat to any predecessor (except perhaps Black Flag). The story remains fairly interesting as opposed to many AC games that really suffered from poor story. The massive London map is beautiful, detailed, and a joy to explore. If you are looking for the greatest Assassin's Creed gameplay, I would recommend either this one or Black Flag.

incredible graphics and awesome game-play = great assassins creed game
Kejcom19 January 2016
i was very excited to play this game after buying it a few months after release. i am quite new to the series but have played enough to be able to compare the games. this game features stunning graphics that craft a beautiful game.

An easy to follow storyline that never gets boring keeps our interested with some great plot twits. playing as two assassins was very fun and enjoyable.

likable main protagonists that have good chemistry and are quite funny at times was a good thing to add to the list of pro's in this game

overall it is definitely a huge improvement over unity, that has reinvigorated the franchise

if you are thinking about buying this game do it and you wont be disappointed.

Overall very good but not the best in series
muamba_eats_toast23 May 2020
A significant improvement in gameplay to many of its predecessors but probably lacking more in terms of storyline to others. I still enjoyed the game but I certainly didn't feel as emotionally invested in the outcome or completely hooked in like others in the series not the best they've done but not the worst either if you enjoy the series you'll almost certainly enjoy this.

This is not Unity..don't be fooled into not buying it.
andydavidh29 November 2015
This game is absolutely class.

I was very sceptical at first considering the monumental f**k up that Unity was but this isn't like that at all. The main characters make a really good combo and they add a nice bit of British humour to it which is reminiscent of Ezio Audtiore/Edward Kenway. The graphics are on-point and the combat is really smooth and fluent (and quite brutal as well).

I'm about 2/5's through the game after completing lots of side missions before actually progressing through much of the story at the moment (let's face it, who just dives through the story without getting every viewpoint and upgrading your character to almost max) and looking forward to more of it. The only reason i didn't give it 10 is because the formula is the same as every other AC but if their aim is to push one out every year then i highly doubt that's going to change anytime soon.

UPDATE: I've now finished the main story campaign and i was absolutely blown away at how good the story was. It also ties in with the main endgame that kept you playing through Ezio's timeline so i'm now looking forward to the next one. Really hoping it doesn't disappoint!

The best assassins creed game
cmmtfbg6 March 2023
Flaws A tad laggy sometimes Some missions glitch out and I need to restart it And there's a tad bit more in game currency than it needs.

Pros Amazing story Fantastic gameplay Interesting weapons The shooting feels fluent and great The animation was amazing for its time The cutscenes are great The characters aren't annoying The villains are pretty solid The outfits are just perfect especially the Ezio one The gadgets like the knifes gun and medicine are all great The voice acting is great it doesn't feel forced or feel as if the voice actors are trying to hard it feels as if they're having genuine fun.

All and all I highly recommend this underrated gem of a game 9/10.

Fantastic game

Warning: Spoilers
I bought this game not really having any idea what the concept story was and I really liked how you could be Evie or Fry and I ended up buying additions to the game and I liked everything they involved. I mean as you pretty much progress through the game there becomes less cops or people in red suits so then you have less people to beat up or kill at the end of the game which makes it more boring but you could always replay the game on a different difficulty.

Love the concept, but very frustrating gameplay.
luke_hemmings8 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Combat - It took me a while to understand the combat style. When you have multiple enemy's around you, some enemy's block and you have to break their block, some enemy's strike and you need to dodge the attack. Doing all of this allows you to get a good combo. But it's not that clear when each enemy does something different, the camera angles don't help either.

Glitches - Ran into quite a few glitches while playing. I find with most AC games, when free running and you're against the clock or at risk of your enemy running away, the characters often scale a building instead of running straight through and you end up failing missions or missing out on bonuses.

Visuals - I am a sucker for costumes and how well the scenery is made. They did London fantastically and I loved exploring Victorian London, the costumes were beautiful, but there really isn't a huge difference between all the costumes. You can also acquire various colours but not all costumes change colour.

Inventory - The inventory is a mess, especially in your weapons section. In my understanding at the beginning, I thought I could equip a knuckle duster, a knife AND a cane sword, but no, you can only equip one of them (even though in reality you really could have all three at the same time)

Missions - I often felt you had to rush through missions as things started to unfold quickly, therefore you have to act quickly, and it gives you bonus opportunities along the way, such as; "Don't let the target escape" but I often found it would give you these extra things to do whilst in the thick of things, I didn't have time to be reading the extra stuff so I missed out a lot of the bonuses.

Your gangs interference - I loved the fact you had your team dotted around the place and could summon them at your disposal. But there were often times, when a mission requires a lot of stealth, I'd find one of my members inside a restricted area interfering with missions without being summoned and told to do so.

Information - When in the annoying in between moments, after fast travelling or being desynchronised, there are tips and facts about Victorian London which gives you something to read through while waiting, however it automatically cycles through at a fixed speed and found I could not read it all by the time it changed.

These were my negatives (it seems a lot) but with all of that, I still really enjoyed playing. I loved the free roaming of London, there are plenty of collectibles and side missions to get busy with and so many cool extras and some famous faces back in that era.

Frustrating but enjoyable game.

Fun ...for a while.
kabukiindustries26 October 2018
The setting of 1868 London is beautifully created with a gritty "back alley" feel. Populated with colorful and interesting NPC's. It was a joy to explore. The characters dialogue and interactions were spot on. The story, while interesting, became lost amidst an endless barrage of formulaic side quests. Side quests that were essentially the same half dozen or so but on another section of map, which was barely distinguishable. Have you played the Godfather games? Grand Theft Auto? Don't expect there to be anything new here. The game play itself becomes repetitive after three hours, and painfully repetitive after six.

All in all, once the splendor of a dirty 1800's London wears off the game becomes a chore. Definitely worth a play, perhaps don't buy it and just play it at a friend's house for a few hours.

Assassin Creed fan or not, you'll love the Syndicate, the second true Ubisoft masterpiece
hakobyanhakob8117 August 2021
Honestly, I came not knowing what to expect and stayed for one of the best games I had ever played. In fact, I could go on enjoying it for months.

Let's start with what stroke me first, which is, of course, the Victorian London. Saying 'it's breathtaking' would be an understatement. Even if you decide to explore the city first, you will never be bored exploring/looting/conquering, before embarking on main campaign.

As for the story-telling, Assassin Creed Syndicate is another pinnacle of perfectly executed cut scenes and voice acting. The writing and the execution are simply phenomenal, no other way to put it. The game is so immersive and addictive, I wouldn't even mind replaying it from scratch.

You'll most likely love this game whether you're a fan of the franchise or not. I'll go ahead and call it 'the second true Ubisoft masterpiece after Far Cry 3'. Being my first Assassin Creed experience (not counting 'Origins'), now having finished it I'm ready to play just any title in the series.

Assassin Creed Syndicate could've easily been the Game Of The Year, or least get a 'Must-Play', very surprised it didn't. It's not just one of the best games I've played, not just one of the most beautiful games, but one I will definitely play even after getting the platinum trophy.

Exciting Rooks Brawls and Mediocre Conspiracy
Itssreeni931 February 2023
What a trailer this game had truly amazing, I was totally hyped to play this as soon as it hit the shelves.

But all the excitement was welcomed by an above average game.

This is the most modern version of the AC game, I was truly exited to play this and honestly it does have some charms, the gritty and dirty London filled with Street thugs and cops was charming in it's own way. I also loved the addition of Marx and Dickens into the roaster of AC's Legendary figures from history.

But sometimes the repetitive tailing ,mission and lack of creativity for Assassination, loped out villain dialogues during fights and profoundly below par main Villain brings down the game quality quiet down.

Anyways being a diehard AC fanboy I will still give it a 7/10, Cheers..

A mediocre Creed but good game
RobTortureWright25 February 2021
Compared to other great Assassins creed games like AC 2/black flag and brotherhood this game is very average and deserves no more than a 6/10 but compared to all games in general it offers a lot in the way of fun. I spent around 80 hours playing the game but was to 100% it and if you're just interested in the story you will probably breeze through the game in no more than 15 hours. As with all Creed games we get the usual scattering of collectibles and busy work tasks to fill time, but that will only appeal to the completionists as it's not required. Gameplay is very solid and has very few bugs however if you've played most other Assassins Creed games you'll realise how much Syndicate holds your hand throughout and never allows you to fall from great heights or jump off buildings etc, instead it's guides you through in one of the most linear of open worlds I've played. That's not a bad thing but it's restrictive at times. The story does a decent job of keeping you entertained as you take over London burrough by burrough and help raise your gang to rule all of London and stop the templars from seizing power. imagine Gangs of New York but with assassin twins. The characters are a sticking point for many but I found Jacob and Evie Frye (Both playable) to offer something abit different than the usual one character that we normally get. However their personalities leave something to be desired. The customisation is limited buy does offer a few different outfit choices and new weapons like Kukris, Cane swords and brass knuckles. You can also change things like the colour etc. Skill points encourage you to push forward and gain new abilities and each twin has a few skills that are only applicable to them, for instance Evie has the ability to go invisible and is the more stealth based character while Jacob offers more damage in fights and is classed as the brawler. The graphics still hold up very well in 2021 and the map is a good size to keep you occupied. Overall a solid game that will keep you entertained for many hours but if you're a hardcore Assassins creed fan then you'll see there is some limitations in Syndicate compared to other games in the series, worth a shot and right now 25/2/21 AC Syndicate and all creed games are on sale on Xbox and steam.

Annoying at times
hannahbanana-85 February 2019
Deeply annoying that you can't re-load at certain points. I was supposed to kidnap someone, the mission was going really well, dropped the body whilst I assissinated someone but instead it was the "Kidnapee" I killed. Amusing, but annoying af that you can't go back.

Horrendous controls ruined an otherwise enjoyable chapter of AC.
frankblack-799618 October 2022
This game really spun me out. On one hand, the story and missions (apart from the lack of direction early game), graphics and dialogue were amazing. The control scheme and climbing mechanics were just awful. With Unity and then this release, I was really afraid the AC games would slide into the pitfall so many big title games have fallen into. They had been churning these AC games out on a time table rather than take time to polish them and fix issues. Hell, there a graphics glitch that many had that caused a strobing effect in menus and in-game. My copy did, but thankfully a game reset fixed the error. Some systems never adapted to the graphics error and it was never patched. I absolutely love and despise this title. So happy that they revamped the game mechanics after this title and it has since been 100% better in the titles after Syndicate. This is only my opinion. Judge for yourself.

It is Good. That is it.
cchenders4027 July 2023
This game has features that I think are the best in the franchise but its story and characters ultimately crumble in the end making it a pretty well polished game with some brilliant aspects.

First off I played this for the first time in 2023 on Xbox Series X.

Here are the positives:
  • Best stealth in any AC game.

  • Graphics look great even in 2023.

  • The map! Industrial London in the fall is beautiful. The lighting is stellar and the city feels alive. Steam boats constantly move down the thames that you can run across, cranes move barrels and cargo, dozens of buggies and people darting everywhere constantly. It feels very lived in and well realized. Maybe the best world design of any AC game. Super immersive.

  • The capstone assassination mission design. The sequence ending assassination missions are all stellar (except the last which I am mixed on). They have multiple objectives many different routes and ways to unlock special cinematic assassinations through exploration. Easily the best set piece/level design in the series.

  • Jacob and Evie's relationship is fun.

  • Descent humor.

  • A good amount of side content, not too much not too little.

  • Carriage driving and carriage chase sequences are sick!

  • I like the villain.

Negatives:
  • Poor range of weapons and upgrades.

  • Lame perk tree.

  • the ending mission is way too linear and offers no freedom. The final boss has good mechanics and is very cinematic but aesthetically feels the same as unity's final boss.

  • Repetitive side content.

  • Story progression locked behind side content.

-Jacob and Evie while entertaining leads are deep as a puddle. There is something's interesting their with their parents but it never goes further than "you sound like father!" Or "Father would have done it that way." The relationship dynamic and history is NEVER unpacked. They are entertaining leads but not interesting leads.

  • Story feels disjointed.

  • Modern narrative is completely pointless and boring (worse than usual).

  • the gang mechanics are rarely useful and often the mission sub objectives deter you from wanting to use gang members.

  • A crappy romance.

The game is good, and has some content that is the best the series has had, but the story and shallow characters bring it down for me.

The worst in the franchise
entangledantar18 December 2021
The game took all the good things from unity and made them better, but had it's own serious problems.

Gameplay is not bad but is too repetitive. Combat is fast paced and fun but not challenging at all.

The story is the worst thing about this game. It feels like the story never actually starts and it doesn't. I was forcing myself to continue the story.

Overall, its far from a good game.

Visually stunning but mediocre game play lets it down
markjohnevans7912 September 2020
I'm a bit late to this but I was recently looking for a game to play and saw this on offer in my local games shop. I'm a big fan of the AC games but I kind of dropped out of them after Black Flag. On a boring Sunday I decided to get a some new game to play and I wanted something I could get my teeth into and get lost in. A friend recommended Syndicate as I like the time period it's set in and I was told it was an improvement of some of the lacklustre entries that preceded it. Unfortunately whilst the game isn't a total write off I can't honestly say that Syndicate has rekindled my enthusiasm for the series.

Let's start with the good points. The setting of Victorian London is wonderful and beautifully rendered. Just wandering around is enjoyable and an experience in itself. This also feels like an AC game you can pick up and play even if you have no previous involvement with the series. Jacob and Evie also feel like well fleshed out characters I would probably have enjoyed playing them more if the game itself had some improvements and with that.....

The not so good points. Firstly the controls felt really clunky compared to previous AC games I played. In previous games the free running seemed to flow quite naturally to the gamer playing it but this one doesn't somehow. I can't put my finger on it but it feels like you are constantly having to think about what you're doing rather than it becoming a reflex action. I also found the game quite buggy in parts. The abundance of side missions became a chore after a while as there wasn't a whole variety of difference in them (apart from location). A minor gripe was the fact I would have liked the choice to play as Jacob or Evie as and when I wanted to but a lot of missions required you to be one or the other.

All in all it's a lovely looking game but the overall game play starts to lose it's shine very quickly and eventually feels like a slog rather than a joy to play.

Should have been better than it was
andersondavidthomas14 July 2020
One of the weaker Assassin's Creed in my opinion. They give you too much to balance between character and side missions and it's very disorganized. It took me years to beat it because I kept getting so bored. The location is beautiful and creative but is lost in monotonous missions and story. I did love the Jack the Ripper DLC. Other than that, meh

Worst of the series so far
kaefab4 May 2019
Well what can i say i am a fan of the AC games, but this one was boring.

I enjoyed being a real assassin in Unity then i shifted to this one, first i hated the 2 protagonist, i just could not get into the game playing a women assassin.

The grappling hook was also clunky, when running away i wanted to use it, and lots of time to no avail....

So far this game was the worst of the gang bough digital on PS4 played for 20h and decided i was too bored to continue just deleted it.
