A special and rare drama I haven't seen in a while
dgkhchi6 May 2015
I decided to watch Healer because of my friend. She was absolutely crazy about it at the time it aired, and it was hard not to be interested while listening to her talking about it.

I suppose I should mention that I wasn't quite sure about the main leads at first. I watched Park Min Young in two dramas before (City Hunter and Sungkyunkwan Scandal), and although I didn't dislike her, I wouldn't plan to go out of my way to watch her. My first encounter with Ji Chang Wook was when he guested in Running Man, during which although he was handsome, he hardly appeared as attractive.

Good for me, I tried to keep being open-minded. Apart from letting myself be affected by my friend's suggestion, I also watched a cut from an episode to see the chemistry between the two main leads. It didn't completely convince me, but enough to sense a certain level of their chemistry together - which I actually liked.

So at a certain point, I kind of felt it was time and gave it a go. I kept my pace of one episode a day at first, not quite know what to expect. The first struck of emotion for me was in episode 6, then it bloomed in episode 8, and from then on it was pretty much an one-way street, I couldn't go back anymore. Some days I watched two, or even three episodes at a time. My friend said, "Well, that sounds about right".

The thing I liked the most about Healer, surprisingly or not at all, was the chemistry between Seo Jung Hoo/Park Bong Soo (Ji Chang Wook) and Chae Young Shin (Park Min Young) in the drama. They gave me lots of feels. I forgot them in real life and immersed myself completely into that fantasy world. It was rare since I hadn't been able to totally get into the mood of any Korean dramas as of late, let alone feel the romance and believe it was real. This pair broke the stuffy and frustrating air I was feeling for the past 3 years about Korean dramas in general. It was lovely, adorable, light, trusting. When you see those two, you simply genuinely want them to be together, not because they went through a lot and they needed to be together just for the sake of it, but because they deserve each other. Whenever I saw them, it made me all light up inside. Fluttering. Happy.

Apart from the OTP (one true pairing), it appeared to me that everyone who took part in the project was putting their all in it, and they worked so amazing in harmony together that it also reflected on screen. Both Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young were passionate about their parts, they gave lots of suggestions and really tried to understand their characters. For Ji Chang Wook's character - Seo Jung Hoo/Park Bong Soo, I think we're bound to love him. It was a guy who was strong and intelligent and brave, and at the same time had this dorky and awkward side to social interactions (especially to Young Shin's father) that was super duper cute. For Park Min Young's character - Chae Young Shin, she did this type of character before but for the first time ever, something was different. She had a certain depth and comfort that made it easy and pleasant to watch. It felt like something just clicked. I get annoyed easily with unnecessarily silly and naive characters, but this time I actually liked Chae Young Shin a lot, simply because it wasn't that type. It was true she needed to be protected, yet to me it seemed that you didn't need to be strong all the time. If something was out of your reach and ability, it would be better to leave it to people who could handle it instead of fighting blindly no matter what. What would be wrong with receiving help when needed? Young Shin was brave whenever the situation called for. It led me to believe that the script was written logically after much thought. I'm pretty sure many people will have withdrawal symptoms after watching Healer, so I would recommend you to find what the writer Song Ji Na as well as the assistant writers had to say about it, plus listen to dramabeans podcast about Healer too. Also for the first time since forever, Healer managed to get my brain working on the insights it provided. What a feast.

Now when I listen to Healer main theme song, it makes me want to go run through the rooftops. And when the first line in Eternal Love by Michael Learns to Rock turns up, I can't help but agree, yes, "It's a beautiful feeling"...

Very good show until the ( RUSHED ) end.
vickeybsht16 August 2018
End was really unsatisfactory and somewhat childish, more because of the build up which was so great. If ACTION, CRIME, DRAMA is your genre, this show is amazing. For a heads up, there is some good ROMANCE too. It's a BINGE WATCH if you like that or not.

A meticulously made show
rebeccaswan-2644323 June 2019
I highly recommend you to keep aside all your negative ideas of k dramas and watch this show - this isn't just a good Korean show, it's a GOOD SHOW IN GENERAL!

I confess, I initially started watching this show solely because I loved Ji Chang Wook. But it took just 2 episodes for me to get completely sucked in. This show is so beautifully made - the characters are solid and well developed, with proper back stories and logical, reasonable attitudes. I usually do not like bubbly, naive, dainty female characters but this female lead truly blew me away. Her weird dancing and singing, her optimism, her sense of rationality in the face of adversities - all of this make her a lovable, strong female lead. She can't fight, and needs protection - but NOT because she needs a guy to protect her all the time, but because it's simply illogical to fight when you don't know how to fight. The male lead is jaw droppingly charming, and Ji Chang Wook offers a stellar performance; he handles the transitions between the character of a fighter and a weak commoner effortlessly. I think the character that stood out for me was Ms Jo, the female hacker. I love how bizarre, blunt and brutal she was - unapologetically herself. The best thing about this show is the fact that it has the least amount of the typical TV show cliches, and the romance is just the right amount - enough to make you want more of it, but not overhshadow the plot. The characters are consistent and develop well throughout the course of the show. The mystery itself is super intriguing. The soundtrack is quite strange at times, but you'll get used to it.

One of the best Korean dramas I have ever seen!
v-malalis13 February 2015
The drama has everything - great script, amazing casts, perfect OST and fast paced. It will keep you invested from start to finish. It's a mix of action, drama, romance and mystery. I got totally hooked! I didn't got bored even for a second. Every single episode got me at the edge of my seat and I was just thirsty for more.

Ji Chang Wook, Park Min Young have a good chemistry. I simply enjoyed in every single romantic scene of them as they had the chemistry right up to my taste. You are going to love Yoo Ji Tae also. There acting is top notch.

I did not regret watching this drama. One of the best Korean dramas I have ever watched!

Perfectly Addicting

Finally watched a rare Kdrama that doesn't look like an anime acting... Fit for western viewers also... Top calibre actors/ actresses, and support roles & even the extra characters!.... NO dull/dragging moments, I don't even notice the time that on every episode it's already over (cause 1 hour per episode)... You will really stay on your sit and focus cause you don't wanna miss a thing.... Great production and cinematography, as well the simplicity of their fashion....

This may have some similar story BUT it is the plot and the flow that makes it different... Great and sexy action stunts, not too brutal Well balanced: comedy, action and ROMANCE--- that every woman's dream to have Healer in their lives!!.. I love the story line, the humor and their confrontation-- so Intense!!... Adding up the musical score and the OST, then it makes the feeling and the conveyance of the story complete!!... For me, I won't get tired of watching this over and over again...

MUST WATCH it's really a classic!!

Best Korean drama! No regrets after watching this!
diwatricia15 April 2016
I really love this TV series. At first I thought it's boring because of it's cover (lol) but I tried to read reviews and comments about it, then almost all of them are pretty good. I also find it boring because of the title, I'm expecting that his a healer, literally speaking. But then, I tried to watch episode one, I don't get hooked or interested at first but I continue to watch it anyway. So there, the more episode I watch, the more I get hooked by its plot. Omg. The feels, I can't find a word to explain how good it was.

Its really worth it. The plot, characters, twist, OST, is so perfect, really. Their chemistry is really amazing. So much feels. I don't think I can find a better Kdrama than this one. I hope they can make another story as beautiful like this. So yes, try watching this, I'm telling you, this is WORTH IT.

One of the Best. A must see!
mc968226 September 2015
I watched city hunter, My Love from Another A Star, and a couple more Korean Drama based on ratings that I see. Healer to me, is the best of all the ones I've seen so far. Again, Because Korean drama is so long, I do not want to waste time watching so so one. So I always read reviews and ratings first before I watch the drama.

Healer has everything. Great casts, great story line, with funny, romantic and action scenes combined equally. If you are looking for a good Korean drama and haven't watch this movie, watch this. You won't be disappointed. When I watched City Hunter, I literally got bored with some of Lee Min Ho's scenes that I fast forwarded a bunch of episodes. This movie kept me hooked and wanted more. It is No cliché, very down to earth.

Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young are meant for each other. I will watch another movie if they are both paired again in it. You just want to cheer them and be happy for them.

Top notch kdrama!
snoozy_hehehe27 August 2016
OK I don't usually write review but i cannot wait to let everybody about this amazing drama. I don't know what to write. It has a good combination of action, comedy, suspense, a little bit of romance which is good coz I don't really like romance movie. But this additional romance is good and appropriate. First, the acting is very good especially the male lead is so awesome. The action is also nice, full of park-our. It makes me laughed, cried, awed, worried, angry, sad, etc. Haiz I don't know what to say, just watch it yourself then u will know. This series although has 20 episodes, it doesn't make me bored at all. It doesn't have unnecessary filler too. Just watch it. Recommended!!

It's a story of a guy who is called by his code name healer (night messenger), an online journalist and a popular reporter.
benzstewart7 August 2016
I just adore this drama. It was really intriguing (usually I m not a big fan of dramas but this is the only drama where everything was perfect and it kept me going). I just loved the whole casting team and the story!! Also the background songs were great as well!! Once you finish the drama it stays in your head for about weeks it's very hard to forget about it.

It's just totally amazing!

I would definitely recommend people to watch it especially those who are new to Korean dramas. I am sure they will love it as much as I do. I am going to start watching more of Ji Chang Wook's drama I m sure they will be great but I will miss his chemistry with park min young. They were the best couple.

Warning: Spoilers
The acting was amazing and the story as well ,the chemistry between the main actors is beautiful ,I was amazed by Chang wook his acting is on another level like how he can move from personality to another with such an ease is mind-blowing. I was intending to give the drama a higher rating but the end dissapointed me,it felt rushed ,I was hoping to see more scenes between the mother and daughter, also what will happen to the uncle and hacker lady and the girl?? But It was a good drama.

A great thriller/romance series
from-nsj412 June 2018
I've watched over a hundred kdramas, and this is in my top 5. It's a little complicated at times going back and forth between events today and most of the same characters 20 years ago, but it hangs together, has great action scenes and a very nice romance. Also a great soundtrack. Totally recommended.

Disappointing towards the end
madbird-6124327 December 2018
If i count only first half of the drama i will give 10. Male lead is a high tech super hero. This is quite a unique role as compared to typical rich guy male lead in kdrama. I like all the high technology he is using.

But as the drama goes on the plot becomes a bit loose. The storyline is no longer as exciting and logical as in first half.

It has an amazing soundtrack, though.

Predictable to the fullest
bougiadaa13 June 2022
Well well... I think that this one is by far one of the most overrated and predictable kdrama !

Maybe this is because it was published in 2014 and I watched it in 2022 but I believe I would rate it with the same price...

Let's start with the good news I really liked how park min young played her role it was something different from what I expected for her!

Also the first episodes were okay with a bit of suspense ....

On the other hand the ost were so boring and irritating it was like it comes from centuries before and didn't match with the scenes.

Also from the first 5 episodes I had almost predicted what will come next ... and I didn't like the fact that the main actor lead always acted like the hero and everytime saved the girl ... Moreover there were a couple of characters that would like not to exist because they didn't do something important but made the show more and more boring .

I would rather this kdrama to have 16 episodes or 12 ,20 were too much and after 10 episodes the story were repeated and becoming weaker . The last episode was the apocalypse! Hahaha I have no words for the end , i really want to jump into author's head and learn why they did this. Maybe they wanted to destroy once again the show I can't think better version .

I don't really recommend it to you guys this shows lacks everything and Don't need to waste your time to watch it believe me !!

Best Korean drama ever! A low-key superhero drama..
ruka892 July 2018
I've been watching korean dramas since last year. I read the reviews for Healer and decided to watch it. At first I thought it would be boring and just wanted to know why it had great reviews. Thank God I watched it. It has become my all time favorite shows ever korean or otherwise. It has drama, suspense, comedy, action, and one of the best romance in korean dramas. Ji Chang Wook is such an amazing actor to be able to transform from being healer to park bong soo. Park Min Young is a great actress and so lovable as Chae Young Shin. Thet both have such great chemistry and one of the best romance in any korean drama. Both their back stories is heart wrenching and emotional. It has some great comedic scenes too. I saw a comment somewhere saying Healer is a low-key superhero and its soo true. Such a wonderful show and so glad I watched it. Please don't miss out on this show.

A Perfect KDrama
breadladyuga18 June 2021
If there is a perfect KDrams in every aspect, this one's it: intrigue, mystery, action, suspense with a powerful love story.

I've seen over 150 KDramas so far, and this one continues to outshine virtually all the rest.

Well written, directed and acted with a fabulous OST, there's not one plot point missed, overlooked, or useless in this FASCINATING story of the best-in-his-field covert operative whose assignment brings across his path a unique woman with whom he will ultimately fall in love.

There are incredible twists and turns along the way, plenty of action for guys (this one kept my subtitle unloving husband engaged and on the edge of his seat), with a powerful romance along the way.

This has pieces of so many other stories like Superman, Three Days of the Condor and the Bourne Trilogy, but I think this one outshines them all. I really don't want to say more, because I don't want to give any of the story away.

Ji Chang Wook excelled at this role which required him to be a kind of superman physically, while at the same time having the ability to don many "faces" and comport himself in multiple different ways including sweet, nerdy, hesitant, covert, resourceful, cagey, intelligent, capable, protective - all while taking a hard fall into love.

Park Min Young perfectly executes her role of the one girl who is the perfect fit for Healer in oh so many as well as some unique ways that are brilliantly written and executed, but totally unforeseen by us, the audience. All you can do is watch and marvel while understanding how perfect for him she truly is.

There are tense moments, moments of seeing true evil being done by those with no conscience for their actions, there are plot twists taking us in a direction we could not foresee, there is a hidden tie between the leads that comes to light, there are touching, sweet and even painful moments, there's a scrumptious romance, and there are some hysterically funny LOL moments, such as the first time Healer goes into Chae Young-Shin's father's café in episode two, as well as Healer revealing who he truly is to her father in episode 20.

This is one that can be watched multiple times, and more pieces will click as you do.

This one is NOT to be missed!

Just watch it.

You won't regret it.

I promise.

TOTALLY SMITTEN
emmaauguli11 October 2018
I have never written a review of any kdrama or movie in my entire life, but this one completely forced my hand. I was skeptical of the cast and I had kept myself from watching for so long, then I ran out of something to watch and decided to finally sit through 20 episodes. It was epic. And I mean epic. Amazing. Great acting, amazing insane script.... how much i woupd love to meet this writer. I am so in love witg the chemistry between the lead actors and their superman kind of love story. No regrets. I will rewatch it for the next few months. I also liked one song. I wish there was more to the ending. Would have loved to see the lead actress introducing her boyfriend to her mother. And would have loved to see the very end of "the elder" and his team.

Best Korean action Drama with romance. ❤
mthusberg-892-61780616 November 2019
The best Korean action drama with a touch of romance and more. No dull moment from the start of the film to the end. You'll be sitting at the edge of your chair. Even better than the NCIS.

Strong start weaker finish but Ji Chang Wook saves the show
hanalisss13 August 2023
Combines action, romance, and mystery to create an unforgettable viewing experience. The series stands out for its engrossing storyline, compelling characters, and intense chemistry between the leads.

The drama's action-packed sequences are flawlessly executed, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats with each thrilling moment. Ji Chang-wook's performance as the titular character, a skilled and enigmatic night courier, adds depth and intrigue to the narrative.

The romance here is a slow-burning delight, with Park Min-young and Ji Chang-wook's on-screen chemistry sizzling from the very start. Their interactions are both heartfelt and heart-pounding, making their journey one that resonates with audiences.

The mystery element of the drama, involving uncovering secrets from the past, adds layers of intrigue and suspense to the plot. The gradual unraveling of the characters' histories keeps viewers invested in the storyline and eager for more revelations.

Overall, offers a perfect blend of action, romance, and mystery. Its strong performances, intense chemistry, and well-crafted storyline make it a must-watch for anyone seeking a drama that keeps them hooked from beginning to end. If you're a fan of complex characters and thrilling narratives, this one is for you.

Applause
salila-227 March 2018
Applause for this one! I have almost gotten used to the unavoidable cliches and exaggerated humor that adorns just about every Korean series that I've seen so far and I am genuinely surprised when I find a series that has the least amount of them. I am even fine with the cliches themselves when done well, and just about everything here is done well. At some point I noticed the little running ''Healer silhouette'' drawing that shows up at the end of an episode and I liked it so much and I was thinking to myself how I never noticed it before... But if I want to find fault I could, but even so, the atmosphere is too good, the intrigue is too good, the moodiness and the romance... My salute to Ji Chang Wook and his ability to make things palpable...

P.S. that slap in the 19th (or 20th) episode was epic.. I had a fit of laughter.

Cute love story but apart from that nothing to watch
rohitadwal1 August 2023
This is good romantic kdrama but if you want to watch action or thriller kdrama it's not for you. Watch Healer only for cute love story between Kim min-young and ji chang-wook. They wanted to portray Healer as like James Bond but he fall into a every single possible trap. If somebody plant one landmine in whole city he found and stand on it and I don't know what type of role played by yoo ji-tae, any normal actor can play this role. Kim min-young looking very cute, she is real healer of this show. From episode 1 to 19 Healer falls in every trap and when 15 minutes left of this series Director found that episode 20 is last episode of this series so we have to end it. So they gather all villains of series in one place and they all finally fall in trap of Healer except one main villain who got mad so our Healer left him alone. Watch this only for romance don't expect anything other than that.

Definitely not one of the best.
astridkjellberg22 September 2020
I started this drama with high hopes since everyone was praising it, but it definitely was a disappointment to me. The plot, the storyline was interesting, but they didn't made it good. The drama started really slow, then got interesting through middle episodes, and then the rest was really boring to me. One minute of it seemed like one hour. Ji Chang Wook carries the drama, him and his relationship with the hacker was the only good thing. Otherwise, i would give it a 3/10. It's really not one of the best dramas. The acting was really good, especially Ji Chang Wook , but I can't say the same thing about the camera work and the rest of the elements. This was the only drama that I hoped the love element wouldn't be a thing. It would've been better without it.
