Be left alone rather than watching ALONE !!
ketgup8316 January 2015
As a fan of horror genre, I have always been curious to watch different kinds of spine-chilling and spooky films. I was not expecting much from Alone as the director previously made Ragini MMS 2 and 1920 Evil Returns. After watching Alone, I was not scared at all.

Alone tells the story of love and betrayal between a conjoined twin who have been bonded forever until Kabir arrives in their lives which separates them forever,

Bhushan Patel does well in borrowing scenes from Hollywood horror flicks and embedding them with desi masala with dose of typical Bollywood narration and unnecessary inclusion of songs that will leave you unsatisfied. In fact, the movie will remind you of early 80's Ramsay' classics like Purana Mandir and Veerna which had C- grade actors ,unconvincing blazing lights, big-old broken house. Screenplay is weak. Cinematography is bad. Art direction is worst. Editing is loose. But they are few moments to keep you engaged. Only silver lining is the storyline and commendable performance by Bipasha Basu. Karan Grover was wooden in terms of acting.

Overall, a bad film in every context. Avoid at any cost. Below average 1.5 /5

Horror genre in Bollywood is now a genre to get laugh
anupapu816 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
ALONE - For those who doesn't want to know much about this movie i can say one line as quick review - I think Bipasa Basu has been Hypnotized by any ghost to do such bad Horror movies with such bad acting , and she should not just stop doing Horror genre rather should leave Bollywood industry altogether if in future also she is gonna act like this. After reading the above quick review if still there are some people who wants to know more about the movie i will try to write something because i am not getting much to write anything about this. Seriously how can you elaborate a description about a garbage , that's difficult . So here is the plot which the trailers have shown , Sanjana and Anjana were two sisters , born together physically joint with each and they both love each other so much that they promise themselves that they will never get separated. But one of the sister (Sanjana) falls in love with a boy whom the other sister (Anjana) have also started to love mainly because of Jealousy . So Sanajan decided to get separated and in the operation table Anjana could not survived. After so many years when Sanjana came back to his home with his husband due to illness of her mother Anjana's ghost also came back to take revenge . Now that's quit a decent plot to make a horror movie. Actually the script was nice as its a remake of Thai Horror film with the same name which i haven't seen. But guess who is the directer - Bhusan Patel . For me he is a really bad director at least to direct a horror movie. He has already made two crap sequels to two really nice movies (1920 Evil returns and Ragini mms 2). His movies are to get laugh , u never get scared in Bhusan Patel's movies. Same goes for Alone , there are a lot of unintentional comic scenes which will make you laugh out loud . And yes there are two or three good scary scenes too but already shown in the trailers. Then again there are unsituational songs(thank god only 2 and a half songs are there) , good cinematography(although i am disappointed because the environment was not too scary) , a pshycatrist friend , a servant doing Puja Paat , Tantrik Baba etc which we see in all horror movies. I don't actually want to say anything about the acting department because our hero and heroin are too busy in showing their biceps and legs respectively , so they must have forgotten about acting , i am gonna take this as an excuse . About the chemistry , its very good because in the intimate scenes both of them are not kissing each other but literally eating each other. And for last there are 2 big reveals in the movie which are too predictable. I'm sorry for this because you may call it a spoiler but i want to explain the best comedy scene from the movie. When the ghost was doing bad jobs by scaring Sanjana her look was scary , burnt body with white eyes, but when the same ghost was doing a good job by helping our hero she appears as an angel , looks like Indian ghosts change there looks with the type of job they are doing. 3.5/10 , cant give more then that.

ALONE Movie review
ahwaan_padhee22 January 2015
When it is about the horror genre in Bollywood of late,Bhushan Patel emerges as one of the potential directors after the success of Raagini MMS and 1920 Evil Returns. And with the propensity towards horror films,Bipasha Basu can be safely christened as the horror queen ! ALONE marks the association of these two personalities, which is centered on the story of conjoint twins, one of them being killed under mysterious circumstances and subsequently returning as an evil spirit to avenge her death. Apparently inspired from a Thai horror film with the same title, this one is a pretty dud with a feigning concoction of horror and sex.

Sanjana and Anjana ( both played by Bipasha Basu) are conjoint siblings who vow to be always together until the arrival of Kabeer(Karan singh Grover) who loves Sanjana and this creates a rift between the sisters.Sanjana is forced to separate herself from Anjana( the surgery results in Anjana's death), marries Kabeer and moves to Mumbai.A twist in fate brings her back to her home where she encounters strange paranormal happenings and senses the presence of a spirit , much to the disbelief of her husband. Kabeer, who looks baffled most of the times, seeks the help of a psychic healer (Zakir Hussain) who extracts some of the unknown facts after counseling Sanjana.

The premise is interesting but the palette offers you the humdrum sequences , although the panoramic shots of backwaters of Kerala form a suitable backdrop to the interplay of horror and erotica. Bipasha's unexplained transformation from an insecure, unhappy wife to a frisky kitten and the unnerving camouflage of her eyeballs are some redeeming moments.

The director skillfully applies the beaten-to-death thrills and tactics to scare us and does succeed to a fair extent. Ghastly faces appearing sudden on the mirror, screeches, long silences followed by an abnormally high-decibel thunderous sound, creaking doors and dark rooms are deliberately fitted in to create an eerie atmosphere. The narrative is awfully dragging, punctuated by some regressive romantic numbers. If only, the steamy sequences between Bipasha and Karan Grover act as a saving grace! Bipasha looks gorgeous in her skimpy outfits which are purposely employed to showcase her svelte figure but we are genuinely tired of her routine expressions in the dalliances with horror stable - Aatma,Raaz 3 and Creature. Karan Singh Grover displays his well-chiseled abs but fails miserably in the acting department with stoical emotions. The only plausible entities in this twisted tale of twins are Zakir Hussain and Sulva Arya, while Neena Gupta hardly has a word to speak.

Alone could have been a much better film , if it had a smarter screenplay and a more tactful script. It doesn't click.

Worst movie
humanbeingghost22 January 2015
Nowadays Bollywood horror movies suffer a lot due to its predicted story line and failed to connect audience of today's generation. If we keep rest of the movie just concentrate on movie "Alone" same thing goes with it. As we know every movie is divided into three sections- beginning, middle and ending. Here, comes first foul in the beginning of the movie tarot card reader informs Sanjana that something lost thing of her will going to come soon. So, we can easily predicate that something wrong had happen with Bipasha Basu. That's what the rest of the story. Screenwriter failed to make a grip of suspense for audience. Like every horror movies in beginning ghost try to kill the hero till the interval film has already reached to its climax then back- story revealed and then attempt are being made to kill a ghost. The whole pattern is same for this movie "alone" The whole film is merely entertaining and scary. Many English dialogs ruin the Desi pattern. There are many repeated scene where Sanjana sleep on her bed ghost arrived we have already seen such scene in many Indian horror movies and audience well remembered the movie called "Hawa" in that movie Tabu was lead actress. I think this might be a reason why our Indian audiences prefer to watch Hollywood horror movie since its serve something new and different. Let's talk about the Exorcist, Grudge, The Conjuring the latest where we see that possessed ghost come out from the cupboard. So, something new feed to the audiences they love them, it does not mean feed anything but it is responsibility of screenplay writer to develop the sensible scene. That's hit inside audiences mind. A worst part of it, there was a scene where we see that Anjana room has been locked for many years after her death which is very common. I remember one of viewer says this room definitely going to be unlocked and her ghost will come out. See how it is easy to estimate story line, well this obvious affect other viewer later they show lack interest in that movie. Kissing scenes are injected forcefully I think just to attract mass audience especially B grade movie goers. Also, the middle of movie clearly indicated that triangle love story is going on. In the end, the same happens: sister kills sister for love. A sister's ghost comes to take revenge. After interval the movie goes very fast, unnecessarily. Last scene was torture rather than emotional. First, twist reveal it was Sanjana kills Anajana but the second twist confuse audience when Anajana confess killing of Sanjana. I remember when I was in lift I heard one of audience says if director had given permission to extend the movie might he would suppose to turn the story line by Anajana to Sanjana and whole circle go on. Oops I forget to mention that one thing about the movie to be enjoyed that's the only thing the music. This movie does not deserve anything if you want to spend nice time with your girlfriend than go and take her because you can make her laugh by funny ghost.

It's Noise. ♦ 9%
nairtejas16 January 2015
When a Bollywood horror movie releases, one keeps no expectations. Because it will either be a remake of a foreign film or some experimental claptrap. With Alone, Bhushan Patel tries to churn out a story told a million times (through its original Thai film, numerous South Indian remakes, Agatha Christie's original novel, etc.) using a terrible cast and poor production design.

Anjana & Sanjana (Bipasha Basu) are conjoined twins from Kerala (what?). When a boy (Karan Grover) enters their lives and gets attracted to one of them, all hell breaks loose. The story is unfathomably idiotic. While one allows a horror movie to go illogical at times so as to suit its rhythmic story, this one goes out of bounds and dances in its boundaries mocking its audience on an astronomic level. While the original novel and the film both were good enough for few thrills, its millionth iteration is nothing short of nonsense.

Bipasha Basu maybe getting more voluptuous year by year, but her acting skills have hardly had any improvement, if not deterioration. She is so bad at screaming, crying, being frightened, sleeping, emoting, terrorizing, and even kissing that it gets annoying just after 30 minutes. The débutante Karan Grover should be made to watch this nightmare in a theater in a loop until he gets flustered by his own awful acting. Grover can be best described as a piece of wood, which will not show any emotions even if burned.

The film has poor lighting, which may have been purposely done so as to make audience believe that it is a horror movie that they are watching and so they are not allowed to laugh. The climax tries to resurrect the whole shindig but ends up sabotaging it with gimmicky twists and flashbacks. There is not a single sequence that one can enjoy. And let me not talk about the screenplay.

The film would sweep the Razzie Awards 2015 if it were held in India, with accolades for Worst Acting, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Production Design, Worst Special Effects, Worst Score, Worst Editing and maybe Worst Picture, too. Such is its degree of dreadfulness that I am forced to rate Patel's third feature a perfect 1 out of 10. It has all the reasons for an average moviegoer to skip it.

BOTTOM LINE: Lets all welcome the first flop of 2015 with unfolded hands and slap it back to where it came from: an abyss of Bollywood rubbish.

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? NO

There are hardly one or two scary moments in this tiresome and boring encounter
ahegde314918 January 2015
Okay forget about a good story backed by believable acting. All I expected to at least have few good scares when I was sitting through this humdrum which was such a mind numbing experience. The Horror genre in Bollywood has never been much innovative. We always get to see the same recycled thrash with recent trend being making remakes of some regional horror movies of other countries. This one based on a Thai horror movie with same name, which has been already remade in Tamil and Kannada. OK, its adapted material still it could have been at least watchable with good direction and pacing. But, Alone is void of any suspense or tense build-up which I believe the essence of any horror movie. The overdrawn climax filled with banality of flashbacks which seems a bit intriguing compared to rest of the film, at closer look opens up glaring plot holes in the whole script.

The plot revolves around conjoined twin sisters Sanjana & Anjana (Bipasha Basu) and the man they both fall for same man Kabir (Karan Singh Grover). But it seems Kabir only loved Sanjana before he went of to London for studies. Well all this is past though, in present day Kabir and Sanjana are married. Anjana had died in some accident when they had surgery to separate themselves. The romance in the plot simply is blank and loathed with over the top kissing(more like eating). There seemed to be no characteristic highlight of Sanjana that made Kabir love her and not her sister, after all they both looked the same. OK leave it, coming back to the story all the characters' native place was Kerala where all the incident of Anjana's death had happened. After her mother falls ill and is in hospital, Sanjana and Karan come to Kerala to her mother's house. No guessing what will happen next with them in the house. All of this almost takes 45 minutes of the run time which could have been easily done in 15 minutes. Again forgetting that boring wait, I was ready to be spooked by the ghost haunting them in the house. Apart from 1 or 2 moments, which were nothing more than cheap jump-scares consisting of sudden loud noise there is nothing scary. The same creaky noises, doors opening, piano playing on its own are used. There is also a local housemaid and her daughter-in-law just to add more characters to the screenplay apart from the 2 lead. Both talk to each other in Hindi despite being from Kerala. Towards.Towards the end we also have a Tantrik Baba with all his ho- hum and suddenly he is gone telling that the ghost is still residing somewhere in the house. They still stay there, so that we would witness a twisty climax thinking we would leave cinema surprised. Alas! The ending did not make any sense at all considering the ghostly behaviors throughout the film. No spoilers. Anyways I hardly cared as the wheels had already worn out by then.

The whole house and the surrounding shots supposed to be scary were unoriginal and uninspiring. Apart from the twist the flow is monotonous. Then again, not only we have to withstand the illogical twists and turns, but also the bad acting of it two leads. Karan Singh Grover's debut is a misfire with his wooden expressions. While, Bipasha does the same bland screaming, crying and such stuff, nothing new from her forgettable other's like Creature,Aatma,Raaz 3,etc. The characters are mostly one-dimensional lacking any motive. There are many small things and holes which I am too tired to touch upon. The length of the film really makes it a boring experience, its not even so bad that it will make you laugh. No it does not have that angle, takes itself too seriously. Director Bhushan Patel's previous 1920 Evil Returns and Ragini MMS 2 sucked and he does nothing different here. Above all that, the most annoying things where the songs. I can bear a bit romance along with horror but romantic songs? what the hell?!?! That too 4 of them.Neither they were refreshing nor hummable. Thus, nothing works in Alone and there was not once I felt it was entertaining. Literally waste of time. Terrible direction, acting, screenplay and cinematography. Forget quality of those elements, actually they are absent.

Another bad film at the start of 2015 after 'Tevar'. Bipasha Basu must stop with here horror-love , actually Bollywood should give the genre a break. Being neither scary nor funny, Alone is one of the worst horror films I have ever seen. Forget horror, this is probably down into one of the worst ever films I have watched. Highly avoidable.

Say no to this film
mridulm842 February 2015
I am a big fan of bollywood horror films and I watch a lot of horror films but sad this was nowhere near a horror film.

Although a remake of 2007 Thai film of same name, the execution is simply awful in case this Hindi film. At no point I felt scary or I can say it hardly had any scary moments.

Director Bhusan Patel whose last film Ragini MMS 2 also suffered from same problem but that film was at least enjoyable. This film is really stupid, hardly any logic was maintained and some kissing scenes failed to bring any excitement.

Only Bipasha looked descent, but her role as a ghost was literally poor. She neither has the charm anymore. Debutante Karan Singh Grover needs to learn acting rather than flaunting his body. Other casts are of nothing special. Only katra and awara songs were nice in this otherwise 133 minute nonsense.

So don't watch it even you are alone. Stay far...very far away.

copy of Hollywood movie The Conjuring and a Thailand's alone movie nothing new
f-aniscool-anis16 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
yes . It is a copy of conjuring . most of the scary scenes are copied from conjuring . thats absurd ,the white cloth on Bipasa bas face copied from conjuring and mostly whole ghost makeup was a big copy the conjuring !

and also its a big copy of Thailand's movie alone

emotional scenes are boring. the songs were OK OK . but what disappointed mi was the COPY OF SCENES FROM CONJURING

Finally its a big boring film with nothing new and only romance scenes.. Bipasha Basu roams about in negligees and shorts, and tries very hard, but is altogether too FAILED to pull off a scare.

A horror of murdered logic
fabregassingh16 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
When I went to watch the movie I had a fair amount of expectations. But what really killed my day was the pure insult of my intelligence (and my friends' too).

Story started a bit promising, as Kabir and Sanjana are shown having a life full of joy, but things take a "dramatic" turn when Sanjana's mother falls sick prompting the pair to move to her old house in Kerala where the memories of her dreaded past starts to haunt her. When she makes Kabir aware of it, he says "C'mon Sanjana, we are educated people, don't talk like illiterates", yet same Kabir readily brings exorcist in the house, when things go dark. what!!

And that last dramatic twist really killed a major portion of my brain cells when it is revealed that Sanjana was actually Anjana the whole time! I mean then why the heck actual Sanjana would become that terrible looking ghost and enter actual Anjana's body to get Kabir, and why will she go from that terrible ghost to that cute angel that saves Kabir from the actual Anjana? Mind Blown!!

So basically both sisters were jealous of each other, and no matter who Kabir actually loved initially, all the chaos would have eventually followed them all. END OF STORY, GO HOME AND SLEEP KIDS

This Alone should be left alone
Punter_Hunter27 February 2015
Mostly Horror movies and to be specific Bollywood horror movies follow a tried and tested path with a predictable story but what differentiates good Horror movie and Alone is Thrill, chill , Pace , Spookiness and good direction. Screenplay is lousy , Art direction bad , Visual effects Horrible . Direction is also mediocre and on top of that Bipasha Basu's same expression throughout the movie coupled with wooden faced Karan Singh makes it a tiresome watch. Plot about conjoined twins could have been made into a pretty interesting movie but thanks to lousy narration, Bad screenplay interrupted by equally bad songs that makes it an avoidable affair . I will rate it 3 - one for the concept and two for the suspense in climax which of course didn't impact that much as it should have been because movie faltered in every department possible from start to end. AVOIDABLE

Scary!!
romelmaniram3 October 2021
I love this movie and all the songs. Alone started off spooky and ended sad but yet satisfying.

It was a good watch. I love that Bipasha Basu was in it and she looks beautiful as always, Raaz will always be my first scary/horror movie, but Alone is one too. I think Bipasha Basu did a fantastic job acting double role. She definitely made a horror and scary looks good. I just love it, I totally Recommended this movie, its a must see.

Not Much Scary But good story Watchable Movie..go for it
raviuppal80016 January 2015
What's Good: The use of all possible creepy elements such as wooden doors that make noises, swing and an overall horrific location. Interestingly, Bhushan Patel manages to infuse a good amount of suspense in the film and stretches it to the very climax even though one starts getting the hints quite early on. The visual effects are quite decent and it seems Patel is getting the hang of it with every film.

What's Bad: Well, I would say a wrong timing of intimate scenes that nearly breaks the link of a 'could have been' gripping tale. Also the spine chilling moments don't come very often and more often than not it is the background score that gives away what's coming, thus leaving you all ready for the scene.

Watch or Not?: Alone is once again not an out and out horror film and so it won't satiate your scary needs or give you nightmares. If you are a fan of Bollywood's horror films then this one is worth your watch. Don't even think of comparing it to its original Thai film by the same name, because I couldn't watch that one without closing my eyes every two seconds. Alone is a decent weekend watch if you have nothing else to do.

East Meets West With Possibly The Worst Of Both Worlds
Theo Robertson17 April 2015
Hindi horror film ? Not something you see everyday and wondered what the cultural differences between this and a horror film from the West would be . If nothing else being a Bollywood movie it means it's guaranteed to have some really hot Indo-Aryan chicks to drool over

To be fair it's very difficult to change the formula of a "scary scene" and the opening sequence uses every clichéd convention we see in the horror genre . A woman alone at night wanders in to a deserted building . There's mystery involved . A flash of lightening and the booming sound of thunder . That should warn the woman something nasty is going to happen and even scary music blaring over the soundtrack isn't a subtle enough warning so she goes in to the deserted building . Something follows her and she turns and screams at the unseen figure behind her

Cut to opening credits

It's an old technique you've seen a million times before and ALONE follows the same pattern . Scary bits are made scary simply by using loud noises over the soundtrack . Being a Bollywood movie it's very loosely plotted and there's musical inserts . I haven't seen a lot of Bollywood but there is a sex scene which might not seem explicit to Western viewers but I suspect pushes the boat out in restricted Bollywood terms . As for everything else it's what you will expect

Spare yourself from this waste movie
ifa-mhmd22 April 2015
I only decided to watch this movie because Karan Singh Grover was in it and he was really good at his TV shows he is one of the best TV actors I am still his fan but he disappointed me a lot with his horrible acting skills and wooden expression he have proved in the past that he can act very well but don't know what happened in this movie and Bipasha Basu the so called horror Queen of the industry all she did was scream, cry and made out with KSG! There was not a single scary moment in this whole freaking movie just Bipasha Basu wondering in the dark in her night gown! I bet a small child wouldn't be scared i literary fell a sleep during the second half of the movie! Only good thing about this movie was the songs! other than that the whole movie was crappy and total waste of time and patience

Once again a routine treatment kills the potential horror plot.
bobbysing19 March 2015
There is no competition to Horror genre in India as almost everyone is ready to try it once (irrespective of the star-cast), expecting that probably this time they do it right coming up with a real scary film breaking the long jinx. But unfortunately, ALONE remains another silly addition to the category of all those lazily made ventures following the typical filmy setting of mixing horror with sex and some soothing songs. Moreover this time neither you get to feel the horror nor are served with any exciting sexual content as seen in director Bhushan Patel's last scary film RAGINI MMS 2.

Adaptation of a Thai film with the same title ALONE (2007), it was earlier remade in south too as CHAARULATHA (2012 – Kannada/Tamil) before the present Hindi version. And the most disappointing feature of this remake is that despite having a decent, novel plot revolving around two beautiful (twin) sisters, the writers/director fails to materialize on it absurdly and goes on and on with the same old clichéd sequences completely ruining its interesting premise right from the beginning. Both the scary and steamy-quotient are not able to deliver anything significant and the film ends just like that making you feel as conned by the makers stealing your precious two hours and the hard earned money once again so easily.

Being too dark throughout (in literal sense), you get to see a brighter screen only in the well shot songs and few other sequences in gaps resulting in a more annoying experience. Plus the boringly slow pace with a routine progression and average dialogues further become its major downers unable to exploit the potential plot that could have been used differently as required. In the performance section, the key face of the project Bipasha Basu continues with her deliberate move of doing more horror movies but displays the same expressions and erotic appeal repeatedly proving herself as a much better kisser keeping aside the acting skills. However the lady surely deserves an innovative director and project to prove her untapped talent in this particular genre quite clearly. Karan Singh Grover makes a confident debut showing his worked upon body and knows well how to do the emotional scenes (learning from this TV serial experience) evidently. But the poor screenplay of the film doesn't let him do something exceptional making the best use of the opportunity given. In addition the supporting cast provides few funny moments in place of the scary ones resulting in a weird laughter in the theater post intermission.

In all, the soundtrack with few interesting (but not great) tracks can be rated as the only positive feature of this lousy horrex film (as it is called). And its really a pity to see such an uninteresting remake despite having two clear references right in front of you for the guidance. Therefore you can easily skip ALONE to watch something more scary from your own DVD collection that is compelling enough to be given a repeat viewing.

(For records, one of its song "Touch My Body" has credited 8 lyricist for its creation, since it is a reworked track from Dr. Zeus earlier two songs namely, "Feel My Body - Don't Be Shy" and "Kangna".)

Let this movie alone
suryanshvarma17 January 2015
Bipasha Basu is one such rare heroine in Bollywood who does horror movies. Like last years decent Creature 3D, she brings us another "horror" movie. Creature was a good movie, could be seen with ones family. But ALONE can't be even seen with your girlfriend. Story is the same as the Thai origin of this movie. Two twins, a handsome hunk, love triangle and Revenge. These four words tell you the story. Bipasha Basu plays twins Anjana and Sanjana. Karan Grover plays the "handsome-loveless-expressionless" hero. His character is the heroes in all Hindi horror movies. Alone has decent scares. But there are really few. Actually just two or three, to be honest. It is heavily inspired by 2013's horror fest The Conjuring. Its songs are really boring and so is the movie. Only if you're horny then buy the ticket to enjoy the scenes between KSG and Bips. Otherwise leave this alone. 0.75/10

A routine horror flick which fails to scare
Ansango20 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Alone is an another offering from so called horror queen Bipasha basu. And i must say this movie is far better than her previous horror films like Aatma and Creature. It is a remake of a thai movie of the same name.

The story is about two twin conjoined sister named Anjana and Sanjana. They promise that they will never separate but under some strange circumstances they are separated and one sister dies in the process. The soul of the dead sister comes back to haunt the remaining one. What happens next is shown with some mild twists and scares.

The story is very interesting but has been marred by the sluggish narration. The movie takes too much time to build.Same old tricks like crackling of doors, auto oscillating swing, self playing musical instruments and strange sounds and shadows are used to scare the audience. But these tricks fails miserably.I am not saying that entire movie is un-frightening.Some scenes are scary but are very few in number. The pace of the movie is very slow which is an another negative point.First half is a total washout but second half is good. The story and the twist in the climax is predictable which is a big drawback.

Bipasha is known mainly for horror movies. This time again she proves why she is termed as a horror queen. She is excellent in the role and plays it very smoothly.Karan is a surprise package. It is his first film but his confidence level is as high as that of an expert. He is simply amazing. His chemistry with Bipasha is sensuous and electrifying and is the main plus point of the film.

Bhushan patel's direction is good.Visuals are average.Music is also average.Editing is extremely weak as the movie could have been shorter.

The movie is not very good but could be seen once by horror fans for some really creepy and chilling sequences and a steamy chemistry between the lead duo.If you are not a fan of horror movies then better to stay at home as this movie does everything except scaring.

better horror movie from India so far!
fluffset26 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Its not a good movie, its just better than any other Indian horror in the past. Bollywood industry really bad at making horror stuff, they are just good in making romance, drama and comedy. But you know you need to explore a lot of genre to become well-known in this tough industry. I wonder why bollywood horror movie always call Bipasha to become the "Scream Queen", she always do the same thing actually just like in "Raaz", heavy emotional & stuff. A lot of critics bash this movie terribly, but I think they just took this movie too serious. For me, what makes a good horror movie is a "working scare trick". It works on me, I cover my eyes a lot of time to avoid the ghost. Even though I've watch all James Wan, Ju-On, The Ring movie, I'm still feeling scared from "ALONE"'s cheap trick. I know there is a lot of plothole in this movie, and the twist too looks like inappropriate and cliché. But, its still works in some kind of safe way. If you expect so much from bollywood industry in horror, you sure will be disappointed but if you just want some quite a fun scary movie. I think its OK. I'm being lenient to give this movie 7/10 though, from my critical view it should be around 4-6 but its OK, good development from bollywood by the way.

Proud of being a KSG fan
NehaJhulka15 May 2018
Just watched it!! I was very nervous because of mixed reviews KSG got, but man o man BOLLYWOODHUNGAMA, komal nahta, indiatv, boxofficeindia etc. are spot on about how good KSG is! His acting was really good! Bips was brilliant too! They were just let down by a not so great movie!! I loved the performances and it was a good watch!! But don't understand why these actors and directors promote the movie with fake hopes! 'Be ready to be spooked' 'it is a very hot movie' neither the movie was hot neither the movie was spooky! KSG and bips shared one love making scene and a few kisses in Katra katra! Jism was way hotter in comparison! Raaz which is a 14yr old movie spooked me 15 times more than this movie! The movie is a let down but the performances are definitely not! The songs and the exposure KSG got is not! So I am extremely glad he signed this movie! I loved his acting and am proud to be his fan! He has equal screen space to bips and had good scope to perform! It was a good watch, and it was entertaining! But I can see why a non-fan would be disappointed in the movie! The movie does not offer what was promoted!

Performances 4/5! Direction/screenplay 2/5, overall 6/10! p.s. very proud to see KSG in a movie with Bipasha Basu and owning the character! Nice! Another major achievement to his list of achievements as an actor! :))

A generally enjoyable enough ghost film
kannibalcorpsegrinder12 July 2022
After receiving terrible news about her family, a woman and her husband put their marital strife on hold to return to her hometown to look into the incidents which lead to a series of revelations about how haunted her past is which soon turns into real-life terror when a deadly ghost invades their life.

Overall, there's quite a lot to like with this one. Among the film's better features is the way it manages to start its rather intriguing and impassioned storyline that offers up quite some enjoyable factors. The whole idea of the sister's ghost coming back due to the haunting tragedy that affected her death and tarnishing the memories of their time together because of everything that's happened to her over the years manages to give the first half a decidedly eerie feel when combined with the ghost antics featured here. That this effectively turns into a romantic effort between the two where the desire to understand what's going on with her and his initial inability to help her instigates the desire to grow closer and reconnect s a means of helping her overcome the growing desire for her snapping sanity through everything that's going on for a rather fun and enjoyable series of dueling storylines between the chilling ghost scenes and the lighthearted romance scenes. Aside from that, there's quite a lot to enjoy here with the well-handled supernatural action on display. These are incredibly enjoyable and somewhat chilling at times, starting with the initial release of the ghost from the tomb and attacks the guardian looking after it, this one features some impressive ghostly action. The surprise appearance at the house courtyard that causes a horrific accident, the terrifying encounter at the hospital watching over her mother at the time, or the intensely chilling sequence of looking for the source of a strange noise in the outhouse nearby that results in a vicious physical attack all manage quite a lot to like with the use of the chilling ghost popping up out nowhere. Even later on, with the seduction scenes of the husband taking place with the wife possessed by the sisters' spirit trying to be affectionate and romantic while he's unaware of everything. With a solid bit of action in the finale, this one has quite a lot to like about it. There are some factors that hold this one down. One of the biggest issues here is the seemingly random and chaotic structure of the storyline that brings everything together. The fact that they're constantly on each other's nerves for their various issues, her inability to communicate her desire to be alone with him and he not knowing that work is coming first which is causing strain in their relationship is a workable enough setup on its own but this goes about it rather clumsily. They go back-and-forth between being at each other's throats and loving to each other and all the various pieces of advice towards remedying the situation only enhance it making this feel even more disorganized and scatterbrained. Likewise, what had been a fine haunting story turns into a low-rent possession feature and then a supernatural slasher by the third act as none of the revelations make sense and the general chaos from going back and forth in this manner makes for a jarring experience. As well, the finale runs on a bit longer than it should, especially with some extremely underwhelming effects work that could've been cut, leading to its main flaws.

Rated Unrated/R: Violence and Language.
