This episode is the best to date. I have become throughout the seasons, a huge fan of this show and although I think that it is a bit weak in its conclusions, the creators excel at setting atmospheres and paving ways before the unavoidable outcome. This was particularly true in this episode, especially with the way Elizabeth and Philip try to handle the Paige situation. The scene between Elizabeth and her daughter in Gregory's old neighborhood was great and a clever way for spy mummy to rally Paige to her cause. As for Philip, I always loved him but this season sees him blossoming into an exceptional character. I'm totally siding with him by the way but I do understand Elizabeth's point of view. She's a true believer, so much so that she does not seem to see that she is herself manipulated, unlike Philip, she seems to have lost the ability to think for herself. She never truly questions anything that comes from the center, that's her weakness, she might lose everything, things that truly matter to her for people who only care about her up to a point. That being said, The Americans dissect human relationships like no other show and much better than most films, that's what I truly love about it. Even though I'm no spy and never had the ambition to become one, I feel it really nails the commitment and the perseverance deep covert work requires.

Very strong episode shows some powerful manipulation

Phillip has a difficult encounter with Gabriel and Elizabeth looks to bond with Paige on a new level.
This is another great episode of The Americans with compelling character moments, consistent themes and excellent performances
Manipulation runs strongly through this one, with most characters at it in their own way. Many characters use emotive words that mix truth and lies to influence others and as a viewer who (in some cases) knows the truth it's quite painful to watch.
As ever the cinematography and editing are excellent and all performances are superb.

A developmental episode!
mm-399 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Born Again is a developmental episode! Born Again is an episode one can miss. The segue episode which develops the store line for the season ending plot climax. One sees Phil's moral compass which is troubled with using a 15 year old girl probably reminds him of his daughter. Liz has no trouble killing a mechanic fixing his car for the greater good! The fight over the K G B deep cover couple's daughter recruitment for spy games has begun. Will ruthless Liz or the troubled Phil win out? Stan has a plan to get Nina back, but is getting Nina such a good idea? Well written and directed Born Again is a get feel for the times, and the characters develop into what the cold war once was. How foreign the church Baptism was for the communist agents of the east with the Christian nation. Six out of 10.
