Siccîn , Islamic Exorcist Warning: Spoilers
Siccîn is about a woman who is madly in love with her married cousin who isn't in love with her so she seeks a man specialized in black magic to help her to get rid of his wife. It has some scary moments with very good acting from the main character, recommended to horror movie fans that into exorcism & Jinn .

Lots of mumbo jumbo in an otherwise one time watch horror film.
Fella_shibby12 January 2019
I got pulled into seeing this aft enjoying Baskin. Basically the film is similar to Drag Me To Hell with a twist n some creepy atmosphere. A woman visits a soccerer to find out if her cousin is suitable for her to marry to which the soccerer after doing some ritual tells her to be away from the guy. Fast forward 12 years n the guy is married to another female n they have a blind daughter. The wife is mostly busy with household chores, especially tending to her sick mother n blind daughter. After an accidental abortion n the guy's shunning behaviour, the woman once again visits the soccerer with lots of cash n jewellery n asks him to perform black magic on the cousin's wife so that she can be with him. Ther r some annoying repeated pig butchering scenes. The director succeeded in creating a surrealistic atmosphere by jus focusing on few characters n mostly night scenes. The demon scenes were similar to the Asian horror films. I was able to predict the twist but it was conclusive.

it's good to know
laredj8114 March 2019
Islam, like all other religions, believes too much in other life and forms of spirits. The film is good, but there is a problem permanently in the horror Turkish movies, It's repeat itself, Repetition of the idea and religious rites. Cinematography and Performance it's OK, but sound effects is bad. but the idea for me that it is no different from commercial horror films that dealing the same way with the Christian religion

Siccin

An Islamic parable. Written as a cautionary tale about using black magic. I loved every second of this and was excited to find horror from Turkey as they don't have much to offer in the genre. This is actually a series of 6 so far and they are free on YouTube. I think most horror nerds will find some appreciation in its execution given its low budget.

Islamic Fear

You see the movie itself, you do not get bored, but now all the Turkish horror movies are getting tired of seeing similar scenes sometimes ... yes the acting is good but there must be different things ..

not bad, could be much worse
IvanSamudra8 October 2018
Religious theme horror, it's okay, they nailed the creepy atmosphere and great make-up.

story-wise its a mess. bad directing, bad editing and depend too much on the jump scares. couldn't care less about the plot and the characters which to me is very important.

but, as far as the horror movies go, it's not bad, there are much worse horror movies than this. it's still fun to watch with your siblings or friends. some people might get scared.

LAME
nizzambaharuddin2 December 2019
This is an example on how NOT to make a horror film. This is another film which I got people requesting me to watch. It's a Turkish horror infused with a dose of religion / black magic thrown in. And so again, I watch this around midnight to get the feel of it.

To be honest, I don't feel it. The film's cinematography is bad. Even some of the short films made by our local film student has way better cinematography than this film. The color grading is offputting, the fast motion editing used at times makes the film feels very cheap.

The plot is easy enough to understand, but some of it are nonsensical and very illogical. Almost to the point where I'm laughing my head off watching it unfold. That's never a good sign in any horror film. It also has some stupid scenes that's just there for them to put some stupid jumpscares and that's it. No further exposition, just scenes with stupid jumpscares and then it's off to the next scene. Oh, and it has a plot twist, which you can kinda see from a mile away. And even if you can't, you'd probably think it's a cheap cop out. Laughable.

Overall, this film is bad. And not even that scary to me. But if you're easily get jumped by any jumpscares, then you might say this film is scary. If you don't, then you're not missing out that much anyways.

Good movie, bad final.
zhexdiia_o24 July 2020
Good script, good development, good effects, however the ending was not good and that for the viewer always changes their opinion of the movie.

very impressive
KaoSaTaN21 March 2018
This movie gives a very exotic look on black magic for a change and it shows what happens when you dabble into black magic too much.i think this movie is more pure or impure for that matter,as compared to movies as Wish master and The omen and other movies.not that those movies are bad, but Siccin gives a more realistic look on it I think.i don't know how islamic people feel about this movie,as I can not say that I know much about their cultural believes.i really like the movie a lot.therefore the high rating.why not.enjoy and be careful what you wish for ;)

Good
chera_khalid25 September 2023
"Siccin 1" summons a chilling tale with a 6/10 rating from me, and I found myself intrigued by it. The acting, while not always polished, lends authenticity to the supernatural horror that unfolds. The film editing keeps the suspense taut, and its strength lies in its ability to tap into the deep-rooted fears of supernatural forces and familial bonds. The music heightens the eerie atmosphere, but at times, it leans on familiar horror tropes. Cinematography captures the unsettling ambiance, but a few scenes could benefit from a bit more clarity. "Siccin 1" delves into the darkest corners of Turkish folklore, offering a potent message about the consequences of meddling with the unknown, even if it occasionally stumbles in its execution.

All the same
olcayozfirat2 March 2022
I watched the first 5 movies. The man shot the same films by giving the title of the film a new number. The so-called fear elements are;

1 - the topics are the same ie magic and jinn.

2 - scare element simultaneously shouting and black and burnt face makeup. Pihhhu gives a person a heart attack.

3 - The people who went for a solution in the incident are the same, namely the mosque teacher.

4 - a lot of words that are thought to be arabic.

5- It is absolutely necessary to use children and old mothers. Hee also there is a doll :))

If you say Turkish-style horror movie anyway, the realm of the jinn and magic will be the subject. There is no other subject that belongs to us. In the meantime, those who try a few different jobs are crowned. But our actors are not actors, so horror movie performances are always contrived and exaggerated. Directors are also mediocre in this regard. The subject pattern is again stuck in a dapdar pattern. The siccin series doesn't give more than 4 points for me, and when you add them all up, it doesn't give the effect of the woman in the movie "The Ring" coming out of the TV.

I also watched the 6th movie. The episode in the TV show (see: Dikkat Shan Cikabilir) (Adeta Gercek) was more frightening. I say this because it's the same director.

Definitely UNDERRATED!
voodoojupiter27 May 2023
I just started watching Turkish horror & I am obsessed! Thanks to NETFLIX I got to watch Dabbe 2 & 6. I was impressed. Then I saw this older gem. Just like English possession movies which uses Christian or Judaism themes, Islamic religious tones used a lot in Turkish horror. The result is mind boggling creepy. The amount of gore is decent & the jump scares are minimal. The acting & storyline are above all that. I do think that the movie ends abruptly, not that its a bad thing but I could use a couple of extra horrifying minutes. When it was stated that they changed the original names of characters, does that mean this is inspired from a real story? But most of these movies claim that. I'm not convinced.. Nah..

Whoever wrote the English subtitles does not speak English!!
deacon_blues-886323 November 2023
I tried to watch this, but the translation in the subtitles is just atrocious English. Totally inept at speaking the language!!

Finally, I had to give up, since I couldn't make head or tail of what was happening in this film.

Too bad the distributors didn't think this film would be of any interest to English speakers! I would have liked to give it a sympathetic review, but I can't.

It would seem the muslim world doesn't care about winning any western audiences unless they learn Turkish first.

Whatever! I've got better things to do than waste time watching films made by people who only want to entertain themselves.

Scary as hell
iamaricklee23 December 2020
It wasn't the ghost that was scary, it was the atmosphere built during the film.. Based on real story. The rituals looks so realistic. One of the best horror films in my opinion.
