I love Grantchester, and after a terrific first series, it came as no surprise that a second series arrived.
They clearly wanted to start the series off with a shock factor episode, and there is a dramatic moment staged, after a perfectly idyllic scene.
I enjoyed this, it's very dramatic, and builds on the relationships and complexities developed in the excellent first series. It's quite shocking, it doesn't exactly put the church in a good light, but the concept is interesting.
He is the most buff Vicar on Earth, does he actually do any vicaring? To me, he looks like he's pumping iron, as opposed to tea and cake. Where did David Troughton's bullish detective go? Did they forget about him?
It's not without a few flaws, but overall, I enjoyed it very much. 8/10
