Unnecessary dark, but still great, episode.

Warning: Spoilers
When you sit and watch a sitcom (especially with a fake laugh track) you are doing so because you hope for 21 minutes of easy, mindless fun. Lots of one liners, lots of teasing...you know...

This is a sad episode by design. An important likable character of the show dies.

Other sitcoms have done it too (episode "Bad news" of "How I met your mother" comes in mind) but it either occupied a brief moment at the end, or they are making so much fun out of it that doesn't make you sad.

Don't get me wrong. This is a great episode. Allison Janney gives a great performance and she is always great both in comedy and drama anyway.

But it is sad. Unnecessary dark, plus you lose Kevin Pollak who was a nice addition to the cast and he had a great chemistry with Janney.

Overall: A great episode whatsoever, but may we were better without it.
