Ioan Gruffudd: Henry Morgan

Quotes

  • Henry Morgan : Perhaps privacy is a thing of the past. In the future, everything about us will be available with the touch of a button: who's fallen in love, who's gotten sick, who's having an affair. Maybe it's a good thing. A future without secrets. Of course, those of us with a few more years value our privacy. We've made our mistakes and survived them. It's not that we want to keep these secrets from others. Usually, we're keeping them from ourselves.

  • Henry Morgan : Morning Abraham

Abe : Yes, a good morning indeed. When another warmongering corporate greed ball gets exposed by the Faceless, it's a damn fine day

Henry Morgan : I'm sorry, the Faceless?

Abe : That secret hactivists group

    Henry Morgan : Hactivists?

Abe : Sometimes I forget I'm dealing with a man who was born before they invented the steam engine!

  • Lucas Wahl : Oh, yeah, you... you know what that is? That's... that's the Faceless!

Henry Morgan : The computer enthusiasts from the news?

Lucas Wahl : They're called hackers, Doc. And... and I believe we should be leaving now, because they're probably watching us as we speak. O. yeah

[see the laptop camera light turned on]

Lucas Wahl : yup, right there! Okay, guys, come on

[starts running out of the room, everyone else gazes at him]

Lucas Wahl : Alright, maybe you guys don't have anything to hide, but, ehm, I have some photos and some web searches that I am not very proud of and I'd rather have not my secrets leaked to the world!

  • Jo Martinez : Maybe they're right. Murder by computer, solved by computer. Suddenly I feel very old

Henry Morgan : Yes, I do know the feeling

  • Jo Martinez : I guess there are worse ways to go.

Henry Morgan : True. Fire, for instance, every nerve in agony.

Jo Martinez : Hm. Drowning, the panic.

Henry Morgan : Hm, although physiologically not so far removed from this. You want to avoid things involving sensory nerves. Being flayed, slow dismemberment. Oh, and starvation! Takes longer than you think. Your body floods with toxins from you liver as you slowly digest your own tissues. Your brain atrophies, you literally lose your mind.

Jo Martinez : Hm. Why death, Henry?

Henry Morgan : Feeling existential, detective? Perhaps the gas is working.

Jo Martinez : No, Henry. Why did you choose death? What happened to you? Did you grow up next to a cemetery or something? I mean, your files says you were a gravedigger.

Henry Morgan : Yes, right. I guess... I enjoy solving puzzles. I mean, what greater riddle is there?

Jo Martinez : Well, what's to solve? You wanna live forever?

    Henry Morgan : Not exactly.

  • Henry Morgan : I am missing something.

    [picks up a knife]

Henry Morgan : Time for a closer look

Jo Martinez : If we are doing blades and cutting, I might just go get a coffee

  • Lucas Wahl : Okay, here are the shots of the contusions. I tinted a little bit extra blue to bring out the lividity.

    [to Irene]

Lucas Wahl : Hey, I'm Lucas, assistant M.E. Tasteful, huh?

[Irene looks horrified at the picture]

Henry Morgan : I'm sorry, in homicide we're all rather used to dead bodies

Irene : That's gross stuff... it grosses me out

Lucas Wahl : Ah, it's not that gross. It doesn't look like that, you know. The smell is what really gets to you, though. I can give you a tour, at anytime OCME. Just come on down, I'll probably be there

Henry Morgan : [looking at the picture, but meaning something else]  It's a little strong, may try again, bit more subtly

Lucas Wahl : Oh, copy that!

  • Henry Morgan : You must be the first dishwasher I've met, with Boltzmann's entropy formula tattooed on her shoulder. I am Dr. Henry Morgan and this is detective Jo Martinez, NYPD

Liz Chamberlin : You're the first cop I've ever met that knows Boltzmann entropy formula

  • Liz Chamberlin : You're the slowest typer, ever!

    Henry Morgan : Typist

    Liz Chamberlin : Whatever

  • Henry Morgan : Is this the future of murder? Killing someone from miles away with a keystroke?

  • Jo Martinez : So, I got a strange email. Said I should look into some of your records.

Henry Morgan : That's strange. Did you?

Jo Martinez : Yeah, I took a look. You've been keeping secrets from me, Henry. This whole grave digging business, your degree from Guam...

Henry Morgan : Before you go any further...

Jo Martinez : You went to Oxford? Top of your class?

Henry Morgan : Yes. Guam was a refresher program. I found the degree from Oxford a tad ostentatious

Jo Martinez : Only you. Well, you're starting to make a bit more sense to me, Dr. Morgan. Just a bit.
