A very light hearted movie in a typical French style. I liked it, and did not expect very serious issues. For me it was pure entertainment.

Amusing chaos

Saint Augustine might have gone through a phase of Buddhism.

This family meal collapses under under the weight of its clichés : the leftist teacher and the wealthy brother-in-law,,a man of the far right ,who goes to church every Sunday but does not care about his neighbor ;and the wives !
the neurotic sulky intellectual and the housewife whose husband is always playing around ;the vicar helping the daughter with her latin and (falsely) accused of trying to seduce her ;the two cops ,who make De Funès' s Gendarmes series masterpieces of humor by comparison ......
This hopeless flick features stand-up comics "Les Chevaliers Du Fiel";but only Noelle Perna as the desperate housewife plays her game well ;the only really funny moments -few and far between- belong to her: the oven with the electronic programmer provides the movie with good gags : you have to speak to it ,and when it announces in a robotic female voice:" the roasting will start on the ....of......2021",the good wife understands that she threw 8000 euros down the drain (and it was an item on special offer on internet);the gag is repeated several times but does not suffer it.A clueless woman, she went for Buddhism ,for,in her club, there were only two possibilities: this religion or tennis (and she did not have a racket );her raving about her new philosophy ,involving Saint Augustine (But ,her sister says,he's a catholic!)is pretty funny.
All that concerns both men and the other woman is worthless ;it is as though, towards the end ,the writers felt that their story was heavy-handed and desperately tried to get some black humor into it;but it's too little too late ;and bad taste ,at that .
