A Decent Miami-Based Thriller

I truly love indie films, because major studios will absolutely not produce these stories. "Eye iWatch" is an interesting story that has a venal mama's boy/serial killer stalking his prey, who happens to be a single mother who is doing her abject best to have a decent life for herself and her child. Adding to the challenge of being a single mom, her baby daddy is a bit of a loser who is trying to find redemption and decency, but is failing on almost every front. On the plus side, the story kept me watching and that is the foundation of any film. I liked that Mr. Baby Mama had friends/mentors in his life who were trying to get him on the right path. There are many decent performances as well. On the flip side, some distracting aspects of the production are understandably on the lean side, as this is an indie that was clearly made on a shoestring budget. And at over two hours, there are certainly some scenes that could be trimmed. Still, I enjoyed this one, and I appreciate film makers who are doing everything they can to create compelling stories!

Way too long but...

This movie was way too long and got kind of dreadful at the end.

On a positive note, I like a lot of the scenes that could have been cut out. Sometimes its obvious that certain scenes are not needed but in this case, there was a lot of scenes that seemingly had to do with nothing other than establishing more character that remain in the finished product. Pretty much all the interaction between the main character and the sub-characters.

For example, the bikini girl tanning. Great for eye candy but I don't know that there was any need for her and those scenes.

I really enjoyed the support group scene. The most dysfunctional support group ever, but hilarious.

A lot of fun dialogue overall. Kind of reminded me of Seinfeld - a movie about nothing.
