Warning: Spoilers
Another episode of this endless arc comes in. Action is sidelined. The Kages are finally approaching the battlefront after a long absence. When they are the tree, Katsuyu proceeds to explain what's happening. In the meantime, Shikamaru was seriously affected by the "divine" tree, and is on the verge of dying. Casually, any other shinobi looks on this condition, and if someone is like this, nobody knows him. Anyway, Ino and Choji are worried next to him. He thinks he's sorry, to his father, he'll see him soon, and to his mother, who os safe at Konoha. Kiba, Hinata, and Shino get closer to check up. Sakura is fine now, and orders Katsuyu to heal by distance, but the slug reveals that each copy of her was absorbed too, so she can't heal him. Sakura runs towards Shikamaru to aid him, and thinks how awful is this situation. While looking around, saddened, she remembers her speech, how was better to die fighting, but this is die before being able to do nothing, without being able to fight. Then, Obito starts saying that this is the end of the shinobis, if they stop resisting, he'll forgive their lives. Naruto is upset, with anger and tears falling. He remembers Obito's words, that one by one his friends would die if he kept resisting, and at the end, nobody would recognize him. The shinobis seem to agree, that do nothing is better than die, and Obito keeps saying that they'll reach their dreams. But Hashirama tries to encourage them, falling in the genjutsu is worst than dying. Hiruzen observes that Obito is attached to the tree, and there's no way to get closer with so many roots and branches. Then, Orochimaru appears, with Suigetsu and Karin. Jugo welcomes them, while the Sannin tells his old sensei that the Kages are coming. Suigetsu thinks about cutting the tree, while Karin reaches the worst stage of her development, babbing for Sasuke (even if it's meant to be comical). Orochimaru notices Sasuke's indifference, as he's angry about something. Hashirama's clone learns what the original hears from Madara: the Tsukuyomi hasn't happened yet because the tree, the Juubi, does not have the Hachibi and the Kyuubi. Still, it's going to happen eventually, in 15 minutes because part of their chakra is there (thanks to the pathetic shortcut of Ginkaku and Kinkaku). And then, Madara pretends to switch places with Obito using the Sennin power. Hashirama's clone calls for someone of clan Yamanaka, so Ino accepts to help him transmit the message about the tree and the Tsukuyomi to all the allies. Tsunade and the other Kages are also in the range, and a very brief greeting occurs between she and her grandfather. The shinobis lose hope, as they have only 15 minutes, but Hashirama tells that do nothing is the same, they must try to cut the tree or eliminate Obito, they must not give up. Sadly, the shinobis are not comforted, one says that for Hashirama is easy to talk, since he's dead, but they're alive. About all this, some remarks must be made. I don't get how Orochimaru, Suigetsu and Karin were faster than the Kages who are flying. Small plothole. Karin and Suigetsu's role has been reduced only to comedy, which is ridiculous since Naruto's occasional foolishness already provides this. Two unnecesary characters. Orochimaru is also there just because. Shikamaru's state is saddening and brings drama to the plot. He is not likely to die, but still, keeps the viewer wary. He is a likable character after all. I liked Sakura's role in all this. She was shocked by what she saw, and felt bad given the sensation of not being able to fight before dying. She has a natural selfless side, that she learned for becoming a medic ninja, and feels the pain of suffering each time people dies. The fact that Naruto feels it too, with the tears on his face, proves how similar they are. They share the same point of view, they have the same feelings of sadness and despair about the current situation. I remark this because there was no other character to feel this while looking around. The others were shocked but worried about just Shikamaru, for instance. On the other hand, Sasuke is as cold as always, he didn't seem to care about the recent massacre.

Then, as Obito intends to collect more chakra, Sasuke and Jugo use Susanoo and go forward, cutting a branch of the tree. He tells Naruto that he is going, on a careless way. Obito says that he'll take them to a world without regrets. But Naruto enters Kurama mode, and begins to remember some moments of his life. Somehow, it reaches Ino's mind jutsu, and is transmitted to everyone. She and Sakura are the first to realize what they're seeing. A memory of when Naruto and Sasuke were little is shown, around other kids playing, surely after the Uchiha massacre. Naruto wanted to talk to him, but he didn't have the courage, and Sasuke walked away alone. He says he should have talked to him. Sakura realizes that he is feeling Naruto's heart. His lonely times are seen, and passes to the beginning of the fight at the Valley's End, which Kiba recognizes as "that time" (what a moment). The Sandaime's funeral is shown, and then Asuma's. The revived Hiruzen is saddened to see this, like Shikamaru, Ino and Choji. A memory of Jiraiya, and the small monument he raised appear, calling Tsunade and Orochimaru's attention. Naruto also remembers the Itachi and Nagato revived, Sasuke feels this. The memory of Chiyo's death, reaching Gaara and Temari (Kankuro is absent who knows why). Neji's death is reminded, reaching Hinata, who mumbles Naruto kun as usual (she doesn't think about other thing, how poorly written). At last, the most important: Minato and Kushina's memory, image runs through his mind. The revived Yondaime feels it, and then the shinobis look encouraged. Naruto says that he doesn't want to feel more regrets, he doesn't want to feel that all was for nothing. He joins Sasuke to keep fighting. Obito thinks how Naruto recovers again and again. Kurama feels sorry to borrow more chakra from his other half, through Minato. When Naruto reminds Sasuke of the senjutsu, it's revealed that now Jugo is helping him. He has channeled the natural energy of his cursed mark to Susanoo. Tobirama sees that Sasuke has the same potential of Madara. And in Naruto, he sees his brother, someone stupid, smart, indulgent, but that for some reason, makes people like and trust him. The remaining shinobis are confused, ponder what to do next, probably to wait for the Kages to arrive. And then, Hashirama passes his memories through Ino. The encounter with Madara before he left Konoha, while talking about his dream. And then, a new unseen memory: the first Kage Summit. Hashirama was so glad that the five Kages could meet, that he inclined his head to the table, towards the others. He thanked them, and Tobirama lectured him for inclining his head so easily, as he is representing Konoha and the land of Fire. The first Raikage asked him to raise his head, while the Tsuchikage said that he came for the agreement the Hokage proposed, but he would not accept so easily. The 1st Mizukage doubted Hashirama for acting so humble. The Kazekage reminds the conditions, that the Bijuus captured by Hashirama would be distributed to the villages. Tobirama said it was to keep a balance, but they'd have to buy, though the 1st Hokage wanted to gift them. The Kazekage gave his conditions, given the poor fertile earth of Suna, he requested better lands from Konoha, and 30% of the boughts from other village, as a compensation for not demanding a second Bijuu (they already had one in a temple). The others didn't agree, and pondered to join forces against Suna. But Hashirama against inclined his head and said: even if they didn't got along well for protecting the clans and comrades, even if the agreement is accepted, it's unsure how long will last. But he wishes that one day all the ninjas from all nations can cooperate and join their hearts, that's his dream for the future, and hopes this meeting to be the first step towards that dream. He said Please repeatedly. Onoki recalled that after that meeting, there was peace among the villages. Now, Hashirama raises everyone's spirits saying to join forces, all their pain, suffering, to show the real dream. And Then, the Kages finally arrive. From the two transmitted memories, I stay with Hashirama's. The first Kage Summit was possible thanks to him. Looks like he collected six bijuus, and distributed a pair to each village. He left the Kyuubi in Konoha, and the Ichibi in Suna. But his speech, his words, his gestures, made the other Kages realize that he was serious on his peace agreement. He changed the shinobi world, and was also honest enough to know it wouldn't last forever. And now, he shows everyone that is his dream. After seeing this, there's no better leader than Hashirama. He is the best Kage of all times. About Naruto's, I didn't like it was self centered. Wasn't showed Jiraiya's wish, or Iruka's words during Hiruzen's funeral, or Chiyo's last words. The memory with Sasuke was weird, because on the first part didn't happen. I liked Sakura's face to realize she was feeling Naruto's heart, and seeing images of the funerals. But still, there was no need to make public the past suffering, the story becomes endless.
