Not a "Complete " Waste of Time
JSplend95417 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Part of my early, very early morning routine, is to go downstairs and as I'm getting my morning workout in, I'll watch a movie. It's usually from Amazon Prime since I'm a member. Saying that, I'm very familiar with Independent, Low Budget, Amateur Night and B Movies. I would consider this a B Movie. No big actors and all of the screen shots were taken in one location. I would not consider this a slasher/horror film. It's more of a Who Dun It type of movie. It wasn't terrible and I wasn't expecting it to be good - just watchable. The one complaint I have which may be a spoiler - I wish the writers would give us more of a Conclusion rather than some Ending that leaves the viewing audience trying to figure out the aftermath.

Super boring
adeleysim24 January 2019
The production quality was reasonable, and that's all this film has going for it. I don't even mind that it was unoriginal, but it was boring and draggy. Characters are uninteresting as well.

Not now. I'm driving.
nogodnomasters28 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Filmed at a Lincoln Log cabin, near Leighton, Pa. (They really do have cell phone reception there.) Grant (Matthew Wise) is marrying Sarah (Clea Alsip) who learned to act by attending the Eve Plumb School of Fine Arts. Also in attendance is Dani (Nicole Pacent) a rival she didn't know about. It doesn't take long before our Cabin the Woods film dials into a slasher who-dun-it with all the characters/suspects apparently accounted for during the second murder, so I selected "other" which was wrong.

What made the film enjoyable was an early scene where the wrong person got the prize. I'm not sure how possible that was either. After that scene, the film's humor tapered off and so did the movie. The characters suddenly became shallow.

Disclaimer: I lived in that neck of the woods.

Guide: F-word, sex, nudity (Alyson McKenzie Wells)

seriously?

this movie is a stupid waste of time. i'm a huge fan of horror as well as cheesy horror so bad it's good, but this is just horrible. bad acting so bad it's irritating. i think that's what bothered me the most. i'm in the minority among the reviews, but with its current rating ... i'm not alone in thinking it's so hideous it's not even worth watching.

Totally underwhelming and unneeded slasher entry
Heading out to a cabin in the woods, a bridal party preparing to celebrate the occasion with a group of friends find themselves stalked and hunted down one-by-one by a strange killer out to interrupt their festivities and must find a way to escape the woods alive.

On the whole, this one wasn't too good on a slasher. Among finer points involved here is the rather well-done stalking scenes that give this one its genre aversion. From the initial attack on the loner out in the woods, this one sets up some solid scenes here with the ambush in the bedroom or the sequence in the woods where a tracking unit searching for the killer in the darkness, there are some rather enjoyable scenes here while getting set-up for the finale. The second half is where this picks up the fine attacks as the body count grows and the killer arrives to dole out some fun chases around the cabin from the ax-wielding killer, generating an incredibly fun and brutal brawl with the killer along the way. Coupled with some nudity and the atmospheric rainstorm during the film, these are what hold this one up over its flaws. Among the main flaws featured here is the films' rather obvious and clear low-budget detail that runs rampant, from the small cast and confined, one-location setting which really signals this one as being really cheap and low-budget. That it's really about the small group taking place at this one location rings the most about the shoestring affair, but the rather bland main storyline being featured here dominates this one to the point of forgetting the slashing as the different antics about the groups' extramarital activities which really aren't that interesting. That also leads into the other big flaw found here is that the actual slashing is quite underwhelming. Very few of the stalking scenes here do much other than break up the monotony of their lives and it really doesn't help that this has some rather blandly-executed scenes. The action in the beginning is negated by the sheer incomprehension of the sequence taking place in the darkness, a couple of the deaths manage to be off-screen and when they are shown it's quite hum-drum affairs that don't feature much beyond that interruption of the energy. That also applies to the rather lame and ridiculous motivation for the killing spree as there's some incredibly lame reasoning here to try to get this plausible and it still makes for a cliched and nearly impossible scenario. These here are what hold this one back.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language, Nudity, Graphic Violence, several sex scenes and drug use.

Not Bad, But Predictable Slasher!
gwnightscream3 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This 2015 horror film stars Matthew Wise, Clea Alsip, Duane Cooper, Nicole Pacent, Jackie Byrne, Alyson Wells and Ralph Cashen. This tells of Grant (Wise) and his fiancée, Sarah (Alsip) who have a small wedding in the woods with friends, Carter (Cooper), Dani (Pacent), Beth (Byrne) and Trish (Wells). Soon, the celebration becomes a nightmare when a killer decides to crash it. Cashen plays caretaker, Walter and the film's director, Joe Bandelli appears as Jay, a registered, marriage minister. This isn't bad, but it's a predictable slasher with an OK cast. The film pays homage to "The Evil Dead," "Friday the 13th" and even "Phantasm" because Cashen resembles Angus Scrimm aka The Tall Man. If you're a fan of the genre, give this a try at least once.

The last 6 Seconds
tyler_young-13410 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The last six seconds is the only part that makes it kinda cool revealing the little twist. I thought it was the blond and it makes sense. The only part that is confusing is how did the brunette end up with the axe and the blond running over to see her standing over the black guy.

Just kill everyone so you have no competition and your husband has no friends, this way he will be all yours, good luck in that relationship. She definitely got a little carried away, but hey when do psychopaths have much logic to there murder.

As she was going up stairs I was so pissed; common, famous last words, then go up stairs and get killed. Nope just reveal she's the nut case. The whole movie I was like I would have picked the brunette, bad choice bro. Then I'm like; we'll guess I have bad taste.... But NOPE...... The things you'll do for love.

It was fine, but...
underdweller-120 May 2020
So it wasn't horrible but wasn't great. I'm most perplexed about the ending. WTF? I mean we saw it all happen, and that ending doens't make sense. You can't just throw togeter a twist and make it work, it has to be there form the beginning. Other than that, it was okay.

Fantastic Intentionally Bad Horror Satire: Just Check it Out!
Dark_Lord_Mark25 August 2016
Gosh darn it, let me get this out of the way. I am NOT associated with the movie and am a straight male for reference. The current rating as of August 2016 is a dismal 3.5 out of 10.

This movie was terrific. It is full of satire and cheesy fun. It's about a group of friends going to a cabin and make the dumbest decisions to survive. But it is intentional and very close to breaking the fourth wall.

The movie is full of intentional overacting and is clichéd but it feels it was all intentional. It has sex, bad lines, crappy characters, sexy girls, sex, stupid decisions, overacting, and just a must see and watch with an open mind. I found this a very FUN BAD MOVIE.

I had a lot of fun and give this an 8 out of 10. This is NOT a bad movie imo.

Decent slasher/thriller
kyleallencole915 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Recently came across this one on Amazon Prime, but was under the title Seclusion.

Now this one has a small cast and a small budget which explains why it was filmed at the same location. A gorgeous cabin in the woods, where a homicidal killer stalks a small wedding party.

I won't reveal the identity of the killer, which actually comes as sort of a surprise in the end. You will realize who the killer actually is when they show that they have a necklace that was stolen from the caretaker who was beheaded.

Most of the kills were quick and bloody too.

Now they don't really reveal a killers motives other than that anyone can be amazed by how far someone will go for the length of love.

For a small indie horror flick, this one was definitely one of the better lesser known flicks out there.

Another Good Movie with a Bad IMDb Rating...
danielcvillena9 October 2016
I looked at the rating for this movie before I even watched it so yeah, I was expecting it to be a bad B Rated film. BUT I WAS WRONG..

I cannot believe how this movie was able to make a simple and predictable story line to flow so smoothly. The acting on this movie made the scenes look like you are just watching some home made video but yet it worked. It was clearly the directors intention for the viewers to have that feeling that they are just watching a bad movie.

It may not be a 10 star movie, but definitely its not a 3 star.

Lesson learned, I would indulge myself to a bad rated movie once in a while.

You people should watch more horror movies so maybe you can get how good this movie is.
mmnmtl11 September 2016
This movie was awesome. If you're not familiar with the genre you might not get most of the movie and the jokes actually but this movie is really good. I can't believe how no one even has heard of it either. There is a really thin line between what is good horror and what is bad in these days but this movie really kicked me. I wasn't expecting to be that good because of the bad rating and publicity and all. I still can't believe what i've watched in this middle of the night. It was very intelligent and funny. I was thinking like is it good or is it bad all through the movie. And it seems like bunch of horror fans just made this movie for fun even make it more cooler than how already is. Don't miss it.

IMO,1of Many under-rated.Majoritively,curiously,aren't Most films this new Quality.....
InfinateANGELzPORTALz13 November 2016
I think that the film is truly a good movie,as Id said thats IMO.I admittedly rated 10/10 because of this, though its limited&hard to rate films on IMDbs'(along with even Amazons',too,as I have been trying to include in my reviews...)1-10/10 Star Rating system, when I feel it would be nice if I could rated it roughly 7.5/10 Stars.

But,when you think about the new releases of movies over these recent years, much like this one for example, they ironically seem to be of similar quality?Yet at the same time, are also Not the worst movies made & released as well.Something we all can relate to.So also IMHO,its almost like they're like the new "Good and Enjoyable" movies in the various Film Genres, like from films in the last couple decades that maybe had been in theaters w/"Big-Hit Blockbusters"like:The Bone Collector,Murder By Numbers,Red Planet,The Lake House,Sphere,etc..yet Not bein the"Big-Hit Blockbusters" like: Twilight,Arrival,Star Wars,Interstellar,Avatar&so forth. But aren't the "B-/B-MINUS" flicks like:Starship Troopers,Tremors,"After-School Specials",Species, etc are per-say...All watched,well-known typa similar films from different genres, some that were sarcastically laughable&cant believe were made or money had been spent to make. But the films similar to this film when it comes to people rating and expectations were voiced as not great,a waste.I just think our expectations w//the resources avail.,are set high, but don't consider if these are BOTH: between like the known "Good and Enjoyable" films and the "Big-Hit Blockbusters".Plus along with that the different genre films, they maybe have a good summary, movie trailer, and overall decent good movie "story-line",just not possibly enough movie budgets to allow room for doin it justice,or was even as itd made its way from movie producers&companies, wasn't done by or w/the right overall circumstances.Bottom line is that it was definitely Not the worst I've seen,&do believe that some reason the films are in a sense the "new" expectation for "Good and Enjoyable" films, some are better done, along with way worse...

Just sayin'!So,I do recommend giving future films, like this as well,a chance.Everyones Perceptions,AND Opinions are different!!
