I waited for such a french war series, about WW1, since a long time now. I don't know any of the actors. Nor the director. It seems inspired by a Maurice Genevoix's novel. Yes, gripping, riveting terrific little TV show with excellent performances. Very well accurate description of how the war was in the trenches. I should watch UN LONG DIMANCHE DE FIANCAILLES again, which is the most magnificent french movie ever made so far about WW1. But the series I am talking today is only a TV product, so it may sound a bit different from a big screen feature. I am not a historian, so I only guess the details are all true. The film makers and producers are supposed to have people giving them all the informations needed for such a historical movie. I also hope that many audiences watched it when it was aired.
