Tepid and certainly the worst film by Walter Salles I have watched so far
guisreis25 August 2022
Very tepid, and even a little boring, documentary by Walter Salles about another filmmaker, Chinese director Jia Zhangke. Through the mentions of the later's cinema with common people characters, and through his own and his past neighbor's memories and testimonies, we know a little about changes in China. Anyway, there is very few interesting elements (mostly about his films and others he mentions). Do not expect anything similar to Salles's good movies and even masterpieces, such as Abril Despedaçado (Behind the sun), Central do Brasil (Central Station), Diários de Motocicleta (The motorcycle diaries), O primeiro dia (Midnight), Terra estrangeira (Foreign land), and Linha de passe.
