Light years ahead of the original, this is probably one of the best Drama's I have seen. Mercifully free of most of cliché of recent US scifi, this drama concentrates on the characters not the scifi babble. I don't give a monkeys about the strange mix of technology, it's just a plot device - as it should be. In any case it gives the show a nice "baroque" feeling. Mix this with a cinema quality soundtrack - for an expensive film too - and the end result is marvelous. A word of warning, this is not your usual sort of show, it demands concentration as does not spoon feed you. So if you are looking for traditional sound bite family banana mash scifi, stick to bonanza in space. The characters are more human than I have seen in any previous show - including the cylons. They're nasty full of flaws and murderous and almost without hope. Yet for all that, there is hope, even though they are a bunch of misfits; they fight, struggle and stick up for each other. Truly uplifting.
