I think that 5 is the right score for this movie. It reminds me of late night B movies from the 90s. You don't go into it expecting life changing performances and deep commentary. It's just fun, mindless entertainment to enjoy some popcorn with.
The big negative I will give it is the horrendous dialogue. I almost hope that the screenwriter intentionally wrote the dialogue as they did in order to simulate the B movie, made for tv style that the film was obviously going for, because the actors certainly did not have much to work with. People don't talk like that.
I will also say that in the era of streaming services where you have unlimited options for something to throw on when you're bored, you probably have better options. Still, I found it fun and enjoyable and I'm glad I watched it even though I probably will never watch it again. As a child of the 80s, it gave me a bit of nostalgia, some eye candy and a fun 90 minutes of sex appeal, drugs and violence.
If you're in the mood for that type of flick then give it a watch. If you're looking for better dialogue and something that doesn't try to feel like a budget, made for tv movie from the early 90s then you want to pass.

When I first saw the hitchhiker at the beginning of the movie I thought, 'oh, cool. Dave Grohl is taking some time away from Foo Fighters and branching out into acting. I wish it had been the rock band's frontman. He could've been the secret axe murderer who is found out near the end is killing everyone with an electric guitar. The actor that actually played the drifter was a yawn at best. One dimensional. His character needed layers and wasn't given any. Not much onion to peel back.
Carmichael played the lead character and was able to give the role some texture. Once you get past the notion that this movie isn't a low budget T&A horror flick (no money in the budget for T&A), you then immerse yourself into what Carmichael's character is undertaking in her current adventure.
It didn't seem as if the LEOs (law enforcement officers) knew any cop procedures. I've watched countless hours of cop video on YouTube and these "TV" cops didn't seem realistic. I've watched perps fight with cops as handcuffs are being put on them. Sometimes it takes three or more cops to get cuffs on the criminal, even females.
Finally, I want to say the waitress gives the most authentic scream I've heard in a long time in a horror/thriller flick. Kudos to her.

Right off the bat, this is a low budget film probably by some new unknown writer, director, etc... However, that being said I thought the production value was really good for such a low budget film. The filmatography is perhaps the best highlight of this film and props to the camera director, camera man, and the overall film editing.
However, the audio of the film is what gave it away. Some part has no music at all when it needs it and while other parts have music, such as the chase scene, the music was too quiet or not mixed correctly with the speech audio.
Either way, they were minor issues and overall production value was great. The other thing is the acting, which was surprisingly good for this level of budget. I thought the actors, especially the minor actors, were excellent. They were convincing and fit into the film well, didn't look like people who were reading a script.
Now, you are wondering why the 3 out of 10 then? It is the Script. It started out great, a mystery and it grows. But like most indy scripts, it ran out of ideas and tries to be too flashy. I mean, without giving spoilers, let's just say there are multiple twists and stack on each other. It may seem good on paper, but it makes the story convoluted.
So what started out as a great film in a positive direction ended up a total confusing mess. The ending was just terrible and made no sense at all.
3/10.

What do you get when you hire a Keanu Reeves look a like and a poundland Megan Fox? A film that sucks goats balls on a huge scale. Not based on the best hitch hiking movie ever the hitchiker of course so this is not even on the same level.
Dialogue which was written by a 5 year old and the most dire of acting on so many levels.
Not going to give any spoilers away because if you read my review you wont watch this movie and you will avoid at any costs.
Unsure why people finance these kind of films because you know your going to get your fingers burnt by a true critic and not one employed by the company churing this rubbish out.
Gave it 1 because there is no zero which sucks like this movie so go figure!

Honestly, I could not imagine this being shown to a larger audience. That was how bad this horror/thriller film is. I have no problem with small-budget and independent movies with limited resources, but this one was so not well-made and not well-thought of. The plot and the story were sloppy and so weak that I bet the director just finished making it for the sake of it. The characters were not interesting enough and the performances were awful and underacted. Whoever were behind this movie have a lot to learn about filmmaking. I also could not understand the run of the story. It was confusing and a waste of time.

I knew by the title it was going to be a B movie so I started watching with no expectations. However early on 2 children come out of the forest, Bakari Blocton and another boy. Their acting was natural as is true for most kids. That was the last time there was any acting in the film.
The plot was OK, female driver not what she seems, picks up male drifter also not what he seems and they have adventures. The story is an old one and nothing wrong with it, but the screenplay is shall we say...lacking? The dialogue seems to have been written by some 5 year olds and the acting is exactly what you'd expect from a B-C movie. There's not too much blood and gore but the action scenes might make you chuckle.
The props are poor, sets are poor, cinematography is poor and direction is poor. However if you love a good bad movie, and are in it for the laughs, it's not a bad watch, I've seen better but I've seen a lot worse too.
I was going to give it a 1 but I made it too just because Caitlin Carmichael looks like heaven in her jeans...

The hitch hiker who seemed to be crossed with Keanu Reeves and Russel Brand looked like he'd had a charisma bypass in this terrible and poorly directed flick. Not only could he not act to save his life, he couldn't even interact visually with the rest of the cast.
The rest of the cast were minutely better. The girl driver's roll seamed to be that she was trying to set a world record of sucking lolly pops and getting the wooden hitch hiker to remember his lines.
The rest of this hideous cast were archetypal rednecks, drawling their speech throughout this tin pot flick. If you can't act then don't make a movie !
I'd sooner give it 3 out of 567 billion. The dead turtle who she avoided on the road was the best actor in this awful flick. I can't reveal any spoilers cause there weren't anything to spoil.

This cinematic masterpiece was clearly crafted by a visionary who simply couldn't be bothered with film school. The plot twists were so unexpected, they left me wondering if I accidentally stumbled into an abstract art exhibit. The acting? Let's just say they delivered their lines with all the passion of a room temperature napkin.
Truly, cinema has peaked. Forget B-movies, this is a ZZZ-movie. I can only imagine the director, cackling maniacally as they unleashed this cinematic atrocity upon the world. But hey, at least it wasn't that long. A small consolation prize for the two hours of my life I'll never get back.

You might THINK you know what's going on but nobody really does. The cinemetography is on point amd the lingering questionsd do not ever give up the answer. ,My ONLY critique was the cartoonish/batnab style credits. There was no connection to the flim and cheapened the look of what obviously was a high dollar film. I'd see it again, wanna make sure I didn't miss somethiing/ I had my eyes covered during the first scene so I HAVE to see it again. GREAT JOB.
The action does not overtake the dialogue. While it IS mostly intense moments of not knowig who or what is doing what to whom. You can't help but TRY to figure it out. BUT YOU CANNOT!

I actually saw this film in part due to the high ratings. I thought "no way in hell could this be such a great movie." So I saw it, to make my own choice. Here are my thoughts. This genre generally doesn't get the best ratings. Low budget, no-name actors, blow up or burn something down for real and a lot of 'implied' gore plus a few strong action scenes where it gets real. This film kept the story going, even though there wasn't the greatest transitional music ... or sound quality, in general. The story, tried and true, was told more towards the perspective of 'what are the odds that ... two serial killers wind up in the same car.' I think that thought was paraphrased from the final 'Dexter' movie, and was one of two good things from it (the other was Jamie Chung.) This film has Caitlin Carmichael, and she succeeded in being the best actor in this venture. She stood out, in that poor trailer-trash sort of 'innocence.' Yeah that type. Typical of this genre, that poor abused child survived a little road worn, bruised, battered and bleeding, but she lives to kill another day. For that, I am grateful
Conclusion: This film is an exploration of complex psychological themes, delivered through powerful performances. The complex Music/Score was a -1 pitch tone I did apperceiated myself. The opening sequence, a harrowing depiction of a boy suffering physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his mother, is particularly impactful. Offering a thrilling journey filled with intense action and a cleverly executed twist, this film is a throwback to the 1980s horror genre. Casting Danielle Harris was the cherry on top.

When I stumbled upon this 2024 movie titled "Roadkill", I had never even heard about it. Not that it really mattered, because I do believe in giving any movie I haven't already seen a fair chance, and thus I sat down to watch what writer and director Warren Fast had to offer.
The narrative in "Roadkill" is rather slow and monotonous, and without a whole lot of anything really interesting going on, then it was somewhat of a struggle to sit through what Warren Fast had put together. Warren Fast did attempt to spruce things up a couple of times throughout the narrative, but the efforts were sluggish and half-hearted, which ultimately didn't play out all that well on the screen. For example, the high speed chase scene, which had zero adrenaline to it and didn't feel thrilling or exciting at all.
I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list in "Roadkill", aside from actress Danielle Harris. However, the acting performances in the movie were actually fair, and Caitlin Carmichael (playing The Driver) and Ryan Knudson (playing The Hitchhiker) actually did carry the movie quite well.
While I did manage to sit through the entire 90 minutes that the movie ran for, this movie is hardly something I would recommend you to rush out and get a chance to watch. I am sure that there might be something worthwhile in the movie for fans of anyone on the cast list, but for a casual viewer then "Roadkill" was a pretty stale viewing experience.
"Roadkill" came and went without leaving a lasting impression on me. And I am pretty sure that before the end of the week, the movie will have been swallowed up by the mists of oblivion and gone from my memory.
I suppose the title of the movie can actually also be used to describe the overall impression of the movie itself.
My rating of "Roadkill" lands on a very generous four out of ten stars.

"Roadkill" falls short of expectations, proving to be a disappointing waste of time. The film's plot lacks depth and coherence, leaving audiences questioning the purpose of the meandering storyline. The characters lack development, making it difficult to invest emotionally in their journeys. Despite potential in the cast, the performances are hindered by weak dialogue and unconvincing interactions. Additionally, the pacing feels inconsistent, contributing to a lack of engagement. Overall, "Roadkill" fails to deliver a compelling narrative or meaningful resolution, making it a regrettable investment for those seeking a satisfying cinematic experience.

I gave this a 2 rating and even that was being generous. The one single thing going for it is that it has a hot actress. That's it. That's all. But she can't act.
The story is terrible. It is terribly shot. I don't even think the movie was coloured. I have a thing for low budget independent movies. I will rate them higher than I would if I can tell there was effort put into it. This one, that doesn't apply. It reminds me of a movie shot by a group of high school students.
I have it a shot and didn't shut it off, watching the whole thing. But it didn't get better. It just got worse. 90 minutes I'll never get back.

Terrible actors, badly directed. That's the problem here. Every scene you can see the lines being regurgitated, no actual nuanced behaviour; just 'showing' us how the characters feel. I literally didn't believe anyone. No subtext or underlying thought processes - just the line exactly as you'd expect from a rookie - slightly overplayed. Everyone was out of their depth, especially the director whose interior shots were downright ugly. Maybe he skipped having a cinematographer on set. The soundtrack/score didn't help either. The set pieces/'action' sequences were laughable, truth be told. Really bad film.

One of the most misunderstood aspects of the film biz is that there is constant demand for product to fill space. Regardless of whether the product is Oscar-worthy. So, imagine you are just out of High School, and you are convinced that you can not only produce a 90 minute feature, but you can do it on a shoestring. For the Hollywood equivalent of a catering budget. So that, when a distributor offers you a low-ball offer just to fill a gap in their lineup, the joke is on them. You accept their low-ball offer and you are laughing all the way to the bank. Want an example? Watch this film. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer." This movie is ALRIGHT! It's low budget no doubt and a bit amateur, but it's much much better than that. The plot was fun and intense. Lots of twists, subverts expectations. I'm sure a lot of people will write it off because there's nothing mainstream about the production, but I'd watch this over Marvel nonsense any day. I'd like to see more from this team of writers, producers and actors. Honestly, well done. This movie is what making movies is all about, despite the obvious limited resources. The lead actress is super good looking. A bit terrorizing the beginning of the movie. Set up well. Satisfied.

In 1983, a comely teenager in a red Nova (Caitlin Carmichael) picks up a troubled long-haired hitchhiker (Ryan Knudson) and the mounting bodies naturally attract the local sheriff (Warren Fast, who also happens to be the writer/director).
"Roadkill" (2024) takes the killer-on-the-road theme of flicks like "Kalifornia" or "Midnight in the Switchgrass" and meshes it with the Southern milieu and car chases of "Smokey and the Bandit," minus the comedy. It may be throwaway entertainment that's hollow and somewhat slow burn, but it worked for me for what it is. The director well captures Caitlin's beauty without resorting to tasteless sleaze.
The film runs 1 hour, 30 minutes, and was shot in Ebro, in the heart of the Florida Panhandle, and areas nearby (Bay County and Washington County).

We had the opportunity to watch the pre-premiere in PCB, before the world premiere. "Roadkill" delivers an exhilarating cinematic experience, skillfully weaving a captivating backstory throughout the film. The suspenseful scenes had me on the edge of my seat, keeping me guessing and delivering unexpected surprises. The director's prowess shines through in crafting a well-paced narrative, while the actors showcase impressive diversity in their character roles. This movie is not only well-directed but also leaves a lasting impression, prompting the anticipation of a second viewing. I loved the plot twist!
