Good story line, performances, and everything else, except... For me, this was the most jarring introduction of a new character/new characters that I can remember. We sort of knew that Pride has a daughter, and here she is! Welcome Laurel, nice to meet you! And she knows all the staff in her dad's office except - who's this? - Oh, it's Patton Plame! And who might he be? From there, we need and get a whole load of exposition to explain Patton's sudden arrival in the office. I could have swallowed Laurel's introduction - we know she exists, and it would not be surprising that she knows her dad's colleagues. Dumping Patton's arrival onto her visit so that the exposition work was possible made the scene (to me) really crude. Having seen some of Sam Humphrey's other work, crudity seems unlikely. What seems more likely is that she was told by the producers that both Laurel and Patton had to be introduced in that episode, regardless of any plan she might have been given, probably only a short time before shooting. Just guessing, but for me, that simultaneous physical introduction of Laurel and Patton really jarred.
