Why, why, why!?
Palidan40029 May 2015
Agh, this is frustrating. I love Arrow. When they do well, they do amazingly well. This finale has a lot building up to it, a lot of characters coming together, all the twists being revealed. All of this sets up for an exciting and intense finale.

With each fight, each moment of life or death, each rush to figure out the next move against Ra's, the suspense builds. Yet suddenly, annoying and useless bits of drama interrupt the mood. I wish I could say this finale is perfect, but the writing just brings it down. Constantly we are barraged with all the characters and their drama, as if they were all children - perhaps the show should be called "Ollie and his 8-year-old Friends"...

They manage to make even John, who has consistently been a likable favorite, turn into an irritating character to hate. Add Felicty, Laurel, Lance, etc. to that list. We understand, for the 100th time, the angst they feel over the smallest things, and their inability to focus on what's important - the city is about to die, yet their selfish, personal needs come first apparently. And Oliver has to suffer to that because he is the hero.

Frustration aside, it's a great episode. Once again, they manage to handle an abundance of characters well, giving everyone a decent amount of time to develop themselves. And they are great at throwing hints at future options, or just comic teases in general. One other complaint I would have is how they mostly give villains such anti-climactic and easy exits from the show. The "use my hand to take the blade and surprise you" move has been done a lot, to say the least. The bits with Tatsu and Maseo I actually enjoyed a lot, their arc I found to be much more mature and refreshing. Unfortunately, they are not the protagonists so they are brushed off quickly. That being said, it's an interesting finish to the season. A lot is building up for the next season with many characters stepping up into the light. Let's just hope they don't keep introducing senseless and repetitive drama into the show, which they will.

Fight to Live
ThomasDrufke14 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It's pretty funny actually, I was one of the few people who wasn't on board with the whole Ra's storyline, but yet I think I'm one of the few people now who ended up really enjoying the season finale. Ill say this about season 3, story wise, it's actually a brilliant season. They told a great arc about identity and ultimately the possibility of dying alone, with that said the execution at times definitely lacked. There's no question there were inconsistencies and sometimes just unnecessary plot points, but make no mistake it was a solid season.

To start, we all knew that Team Arrow wasn't really dead, in fact if you watched the promo or even Flash, you would know that. But seeing Barry end up coming to Nanda Parbat to save the team was really enjoyable. And actually ended up giving the first 5 minutes or so a whole lot of humor. I mean come on when he talks about his secret identity to Malcom or his hot tub line? Priceless. Plus, this season for Arrow has been virtually humorless. It was also nice to see Malcom then start calling out the shots like he believed he was again in charge. And I have to say, I actually thought he would be the one to die this week, but that sure went a different direction. We then find ourselves on our way to Star City as Nyssa, Ra's, and Oliver about to unleash the bio-weapon on the city. I was pleased to see Nyssa was in on the plan. Her and Oliver working together has always been one of the more interesting dynamics this show has brought. That airplane scene actually looked surprising great and just about the entire episode did as well. The show-runners always say that they don't use anymore CGI than normal for finales, but I beg to differ. Our team collected itself back at Palmer's place as just about every costumed hero on the show had their say. That Diggle punch though? Well deserved. I was glad to see that although the team was still heated, they put their differences aside and helped stop the bigger threat. The Damian Darhk subplot felt very premature and nothing that should have gotten finale screen-time, even if he is the big bad of season 4. But I really loved the theme of this week and the entire season. Oliver's scene alone with Felicity told us why this episode's title was true, but it also wasn't. His identity after the episode is up in the air, but he found a way to leave it behind and survive not dying, if that makes any sense. Fight to live as Felicity said.

When the entire team was in action we got some great moments. Nyssa and Laurel, which has become such a great pairing. Thea saving Diggle, think about how far her character has come?! And of course the future Demon's head, Malcom Merlyn getting some action. Well and Quentin came back this week. I think it had been 3 weeks without the detective as he was a welcomed return. His scene was Laurel was very emotional, but I also felt like it may have been the end for his character. I was saying out loud "Please don't kill off Quentin" . It seemed like this season was building towards that, but I guess he has to live to see his daughter live again, as the White Canary. It all came to the final battle, which Quentin watched from not to far away. It's unfortunate that Ra's or Oliver couldn't wear another color, because it was very difficult to figure out who was who. But it was equally as cool to see Oliver win the same exact way as he lost 5 months ago. As he was shot down and then the ensuing fall down the waterfall, I thought for a second that it could be the end, a la a Dark Knight Rises ending for the character. But who else but Felicity in the ATOM suit to save him. Probably the coolest moment of the episode, much like a Pepper Potts would do in the Iron Man suit. I guess it's worth mentioning the flashbacks were better this week, but all season they have been uneven and very short. What happened to Amanda Waller by the way? She was supposed to be the big villain of the flashbacks this season but instead she barely showed up. Oliver seems to be heading to Coast City, another Green Lantern easter egg, or possibly just back to the island. Here's hoping the flashbacks pick up next season.

The last meeting all together felt bittersweet. I may be the only one who understands where the writers took all the characters. Ray is obviously going off to the spin off, Diggle is going to find a costume somewhere (fingers crossed), Laurel and I guess Thea will continue to fight crime in Star City, Malcom is the head of the league, and Olicity drives off into the sunset. To me, it seemed more like a series finale than a season finale, but I think it worked for the most part. By the way when Malcom was in front of the Lazarus Pit at the end with Nyssa, who else expected Sara to come jumping out of the pit there? So season 3 definitely had their lows but I think it was still a solid story. The writers had a whole lot of guts this season, and just because I didn't like everything doesn't mean they should stop. Very interested to see how they bring Oliver/GREEN Arrow back into the fold, possibly revealing Damian Darhk is Felicity's father?

+Flash moments

+CGI

+Season themes come to head

+Thea as Red Arrow/Speedy

+Felicity as the ATOM

+Bittersweet ending

-Uneven flashbacks

-Rushed end to Ra's

Very good finale!
gca_3614 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Todays episode was very good and gave a good conclusion to all the events happened in the past four episodes. The action was quite good and I liked the fight between Ras and Oliver. Seeing the team working together to stop the bioweapon attack was great and even Ray and Laurel didn't tick me off in this episode.

The development of Thea to replace Roy in the team is good and I am curious where this will lead to in season 4. Malcolm becoming the new Ras al Ghul was a little illogical twist, though. I mean, Oliver was introduced to be successor and he was the one who killed Ras. Nyssa being Olivers wife and knowing the truth, how can Malcolm be the successor of Ras? Anyway, this minor flaw didn't hinder me enjoying the finale. I guess, Malcolm is going to be the main villain in season 4 and I am curious what role Nyssa will play in season 4.

What about the explosion at Palmer Industries? I guess, Ray will survive it and get some superpowers. I just hope, he won't stay in the show and be a part of the team.

I know, there are a lot of Olicity fans and haters out there. I am neither, but I think it was OK that Felicity and Oliver are finally together. It is a small conclusion of the development of this relationship, but we also all know, it won't last. The question is, how this relationship will end. I have some ideas, but all would be sheer speculation and that doesn't belong into an episode review.

A great season finale
sfsfsdfd14 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This season had it's ups and downs, but this is no doubt an amazing way to finish it off. The plan that Oliver had to take down Ra's was brilliant to be honest. I had some doubts that he might have turned dark, but watching yesterdays "Flash" episode we saw that he had a plan to save the city and to take down Ra's. This episode was really well written, from beginning to end. It was nice seeing the team work together again. And one of my favorite parts of this episode was the fight between Oliver and Ra's. The fight was pretty even, but when I saw that Ra's took Oliver down again, I thought that it would end like the last fight. But before Ra's could finish him we saw Oliver use the techniques Ra's taught him to counter him and finish him. This episode is also a great introduction for season four. Here we saw Malcolm become the new Ra's, who will probably be the main villain in season four. The explosion in Palmer's lab was also interesting. I think that Ray could finally get his powers now after this. And Oliver leaving will Felicity is nice, but due to what happened with Ray and Malcolm I doubt they will have much free time, and that they'll return quickly to Starling city.

Arrow season 3 finale turns out to be like ice bucket thrill
ritvikm13 May 2015
A suspenseful ending with so much thrill and content just as the viewers would like it to end....no regrets watching it and calling it my favorite show. The producers of the show have done justice to the Arrow. I could have never imagined a side character from the Justice league would to such a great work to save his city. I always compared Arrow with the Batman but after watching the seasons specially the finale of Season 3 I can say that the Arrow should not be compared with the Batman. The Arrow has his own personality and style of doing things and Stephen Amell who plays the lead role has taken The Arrow to a higher platform that one could never imagine. His personality suits best for the character. I wish him a good luck and would continue watching the show.

Whoa!! That's what I call a finale
peterhill-8490014 May 2015
I had so much fun with this episode, it was truly a great finale and had some of the most intense scenes during the whole season. Though despite the action there were some brilliantly acted character scenes from each and every member. I truly wasn't sure how Felicity, Diggle, Malcolm, Laurel and Ray were going to survive being intoxicated but the writers came up with a brilliantly clever solution that I didn't see coming. Once again this episode truly felt like cinema quality and not your everyday television episode. Overall this episode was brilliant with great action and great character scenes. The final scenes showing what Malcolm and Ray were up to sent a tingle in my spine and it can only get better.

A satisfying end to a satisfying season
tabraham4415 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
OK so fist off the creators of this show originally intended Arrow to end after the third season, I really enjoy the wrap up to be honest. It left us(semi) happy of where Oliver is off too. The whole season I was scratching my head on how he was going to get out of being the Heir and avoid the revenge of Ra's, but they found a great twist with Malcolm at the end and actually gave his character relevance. As far as the whole season went it was weaker then previous ones because of two reasons: Lack of a good villain and weak backstory. In season 2 slade was perfect for too many reasons, Ra's never really matched that intensity. But back to this episode, which in whole wasn't all that bad. It just seemed rushed is all, and in a season finale that is the last thing you want. I found myself making too many acceptances of plot just because I am a fan of a show, ironically something I am not a fan of doing. I am curious to see how they bring Oliver back to Starling since obviously his friends believe he is becoming Ra's and have no idea that he and Felicity rode off together. It was a bit of a happy ending, but it is good to see it all work out for them.

Overall this season had its ups and downs, but is still a show that I will be looking forward to watching. For next season, come up with a better villain then Damian Dahrk, I already don't like the feeling of this villain, maybe a nice backstory from the island would be nice. My personal request would be Oliver is gone for a while and they have to deal with HIVE for a bit then BOOM, the joker and harley quinn make an appearance. I mean c'mon, how crazy would that be. Maybe some more island backstory on the two of them, but they need a villain with more presence in the show, Ra's intentions seemed far fetched and slightly forced.

Either way sadly it was the worst season yet, but hopefully the writers can learn from their mistakes and make season 4 a perfect combination of what they did right from all 3 seasons. If they ditch the backstory as a whole I will be disappointed because it is what puts arrow in its own category from the flash. And oh yea Ray at the end... I mean I know he's gonna survive but Jesus... Good luck Ray.

Really Dark Season for The Arrow
athleticteen9 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
What an episode this was! It wasn't as intense as the first two season finale's especially last season where it was really personal. But Oliver Queen aka the Arrow taking on a very formidable opponent in Ra's Al Ghul. It was a nice touch using the sword from the mountain that nearly killed himself and the way Oliver bested Ra's by grabbing the sword and stabbing Ra's through the chest. What I'm really excited about is the villain for next season of Arrow. A Teen Titan enemy aka Damien Dhark will be interesting to see how he reacts to Oliver killing his mentor. And FINALLY, we got to see Oliver and Felicity happy together although Oliver was technically married to Nyssa. With Malcolm Merlin as the new Ra's how will he maintain his relationship with Thea and I certainly hope that this is not the last time we see Roy Harper aka Arsenal aka THE RED ARROW!!!!

The....Arrow?
jsavio0514 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Arrow has always prided itself on good story telling. While sometimes it did not pay off, most of the time it did. In Season 1 the show was able to introduce the characters and slowly started to unravel the secrets of Oliver Queen and why he decided to become The Vigilante. Season 2 then built off of Season 1 as it showed Oliver's transformation into a hero and eventually, The Arrow. **SPOILERS AHEAD** This is where the problem with Season 3 comes in as Oliver Queen went from the Arrow to Al Sah- him, to well.... **SPOILERS AHEAD**

Ever since the mid season finale, which I thought would finally get the story arc of Season 3 on track, the show decided to become very dark and unlike anything Arrow had ever tried before. I liked the idea of an Oliver with no limits as it showed the potential he had, as in Season 1. However, there was almost no time for any kind of comedic moments or light hearted material that I believe is necessary, especially when a show goes as dark as Arrow did. The show just kept adding dark moments after dark moments without any kind of big payoff.

Barry showing up in this episode showed that the show can still have light hearted material but still keep that darker vibe. Season 3 just never found balance between the dark plot points and the lighter moments.

Season 3 also took a bit of hit with the flashbacks. While it was interesting to learn that Oliver was not on the island for 5 straight years, most of the flashbacks became dry and felt almost pointless, especially in the second half of the season. I almost hope Arrow goes the Flash route and only uses flashbacks in certain episodes when it makes sense. That way the flashbacks will become more meaningful in the episodes they are in. Oliver will be rescued from Lian Yu in 2 years flashback time and it is hard to imagine there is more interesting stories to tell from the island that constitute a flashback every episode. Here's hoping I am wrong though.

That isn't to say that "My Name Is Oliver Queen" didn't have any good moments. The set ups for Season 4 such as Diggle teasing the idea of wearing a suit, Thea becoming Speedy, Ray figuring out how he will shrink and become more like the Atom and less like Iron Man, and Laruel hopefully becoming an adequate hero and patching things up with Captain Lance, were definitely interesting. The biggest surprise, and also my personal favorite part of the episode, was Oliver turning the League over to Merlyn as due to some sort of agreement between the two. This will keep the League and Merlyn relevant and hopefully will lead to a major conflict in Season 4 where Oliver finally gets revenge for Sara, Thea, and even Tommy.

I thought the fight between Oliver and Ras was a little strange. It didn't seem on par with the fights throughout the series. How did the cops know exactly where Ras and Oliver were fighting? I did like the symmetry of Oliver killing Ras in the same way that Ras attempted to kill Oliver back in "The Climb". However it seemed a little odd that Oliver was an equal match for Ras after only being able to land a single blow only half a season ago. I suppose training with the League was enough to explain it but still. Knowing what I do about Ras, it seems unlikely that he will not be making a return at some point in Arrow with the help of the Lazarus Pit. Who knows, maybe Oliver will place him in the Lian Yu prison and an alliance between Ras and Slade is formed. It seems unlikely but it seems hard to believe that HIVE will be the main villain for Season 4. I predict an outcome similar to Brother Blood where HIVE is just a smaller piece in a bigger game.

The ending felt a little off only because there were still a lot of questions left unanswered. Mostly in regards to the titular hero. How will Oliver reclaim the identity of the Arrow? What drives him and Felicity back to Starling City? Also didn't Ray sign the company over to Felicity? That seemed to just have gotten swept under the rug unless it will be a part of Season 4. We know, thanks to the Flash (specifically Wells), that Oliver at some point gets his company back and merges with Wayne Enterprises. My hope is that Oliver will finally claim the title of Green Arrow in Season 4. More importantly, I hope to see Arrow reclaim it's former glory after a surprisingly unsatisfying Season 3. Arrow has forever changed but hopefully it only gets better from here on out.

Good season finale, but...
matheusdrl25 July 2016
It should have been a series finale. Everything is solved, everyone is happy... Why The CW renewed this show for a fourth and now a fifth season? Arrow used to be a good show on season 1. Season 2 was too boring, and now season 3 used to be awful, until it ended in a good way. I'll keep watching the show, but it really needs some great changes. There are some characters that should be gone. And they gotta stop killing them and then they aren't dead. These "deaths" are so predictable... I don't really care when a character dies, because they often don't. It's just a silly way to keep you watching it. And the weirdest part is that if The Flash ended the League of Assassins in a blink of an eye, where would be the killing (that means everything in this show)?

Started well but fell apart.
holyrhino199618 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This finale held so much promise... The first half was great, Malcolm saving everyone, Barry showing up (although why were they waiting for thunder as the signal? Can Barry cause thunder now?)

Then "My NAME... Is Oliver Queen". Utterly badass, the first fight with Ra's in the plane was great.

But then it all goes downhill. After that part of the episode there was so much wrong with it.

Firstly, how did Team Arrow get back to Palmer Tech before Oliver did? They were stranded in Nanda Parbat and Barry didn't give them a lift home. Although this isn't the first time that Nanda Parbat appears to have a hyperspace lane connecting it to Central and Starling City either.

Also, why was Barry in such a hurry to speak to Harrison that he could not stop and lend a hand in Starling first? Let's face it, he could have solved all of their problems for them in a couple of minutes and been back to Central City about five minutes later than he otherwise would have. Yeah, I guess they can't just use Barry to solve all their problems, otherwise it'd be boring.

The final fight with Ra's was quite cool but I fell that Oliver beat him too easily. Just reversing the same trick that Ra's used on him in episode 9. Still, it wasn't bad.

Although, on the subject of that fight, how did the police know that they were there? And why did the snipers not listen to Lance? And why, if they were going to be there not listening to Lance anyway, didn't they open fire before that? They were not on anyone's side, they were going to kill them both, whoever won. So why were they holding fire until one had killed the other? It's not like they had any reason to be concerned about hitting a friendly. Were they just interested to see who would win? They were there to kill them both, I suppose that the shot was easier when they had stopped fighting, but they were standing/kneeling completely still for extended periods prior to that, sitting ducks.

Now... The writers pandering to the Olicity fangirls has been the bane of this season, I liked Felicity's character in season 1 and 2, but in this season it was all-but destroyed with only a few decent moments and lines throughout all 23 episodes. In this episode, however, it reached an all-time low with Felicity saving Oliver in the ATOM suit. What... The actual... I don't even have the words to describe how stupid that scene was. She didn't even fit in it, she doesn't know how to control it, she looked ridiculous wearing it. It makes no sense whatsoever, could Felicity not have taken over Ray's job and Ray could have flown off to save Oliver? That would at least have made some sense. Or just have Oliver fall and manage to hit the water in a way that did not kill him, the bullets only bruised him through the League Armour after all.

Now, to rub salt into the wound, the League's plan makes no sense. Why choose to disperse the virus like that? It would have been much quicker, easier and more efficient just to have the people throw phials down at the floor, or had Ra's predicted that Team Arrow would survive, the League would be taken down by a man with super-speed who would then free Team Arrow and then they would find a way back to Starling? Or was it just in case that scenario occurred? Either way, some top-notch foresight on Ra's part, that or just stupidity. I'm going to go with stupidity, given that even with Team Arrow returning, throwing phials at the floor would still have been more effective. Especially when your suicidal guys decide to, instead of slitting their throats, engage the people coming at them in combat despite the fact that the only possible result is "no difference" or "you lose".

Then of course, Oliver just drives off into the sunset with Felicity. The only way this series could have been properly resolved is with Felicity's death. It was the logical conclusion, I thought that is what it was building towards, which would have made a lot of what has been wrong with this series forgivable build-up. But no, instead of the logical Felicity's death, they gave us Felicity in the ATOM suit and an ending that I would have been okay with as the final ever episode, but not when we have a season or two left... All in all, extremely disappointing.

Not as explosive as the first two seasons
denise_nicegirl14 May 2015
Well, that was unexpected. Usually, there's some sort of mild cliffhanger to whet our appetites for next season. But this ending felt like a show finale, the hero going with the girl off into the sunset, since the beginning of the season something felt kinda weird, thats right the writers gave up and forced a relationship, what used to be a sexy tension became a forced unnatural pursuit for the love of Oliver crying in every episode made a great character annoying. The season had great moments and also rock bottom moments... This season has sold what made it fantastic for the ratings, in my opinion it became a romance show 60% action 40%, Its based on a comic show and now it feels like any other soap opera, come on Writers get your head off your ass...

From Hero to zero
marek-kucko14 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This show was one of the best show, but since episode when Ra's killed Oliver on the top of the mountain its became real disaster.

At first, I started to hate Felicity. I wishes her death. Then I started to hate Ray, he is so awkward. Now I hate every person in the show. If the bioweapon would kill entire Starling City and the show will end i would by glad.

Dialogues are horrible, in the finale, there wasn't any good dialogs scene or even good quite scene.

Horrible Horrible they should make Flashpoint paradox in the Flash TV show and delete entire storyline with Ra's.

Sorry for English.

Terrible terrible finale.
bikasv14 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I don't why anybody wanted to see Olicity, but it's stupid from the word go. The entire series anyway wasn't doing any justice to comic book, but this is too much. I've no idea why directors need to pull off Nolan like superhero ending, which was worst form of superhero ending anyway.

Whatever happens, let the hero leave his mantle. Dumb and stupid, and I'm looking at you Mr. Nolan for this stupidity.

Just a episode before Ollie came to help Flash when he's always with guards. And Flash can easily help all his problem go away in matter of minutes once they call him in the show, so he had to give stupid excuse to get away. What the hell? People are dying in Starling City and Barry has to interrogate a captured suspect? Makes a lot sense.

A season-wide build for Ra's was just to be killed in matter of 5 minutes and that too very ordinarily. I cried to the villain a bit here.

Ra's big threat to city was so ordinary that anybody with almost zero in-crime experience (if that's a thing) can overcome the villains.

So much not looking forward to next season now. Hope they kill the entire series and save further disgrace named Arrow.

My name is Oliver Queen - As Corny as it sounds.
ryzah15 May 2015
Disappointed with the ending to a mis-match season.

Firstly, I am not a superhero fan, as I find such films often go beyond ridiculous and unreasonable. However I was surprised how much enjoyment 'Arrow' gave me from the very first episode, including a superbly structured back story, which still runs strong today.

This series has had it's moments and still has the action, suspense and shock factor that has raised the series to over an 8 on this wonderful database. Unfortunately for me, I have been frustrated with the writing since Oliver survived an survivable death, 'meta- humans' were used, Ray was used in the same way as the shocking 'Iron Man' films and the unbelievably poor acted and stupidly invincible flash were involved. The arrow started as a believable vigilante, fighting bad guys and now everything has taken a turn for the unbelievable.

If the Arrow is gone and the new characters are what is left, this series will certainly be the last for me.

The reason i stopped watching Arrow
guilhermejunior31 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This Season-Finale episode of the beloved series "Arrow", is with no doubt the worst i have ever experienced. During this season i noticed the many flaws of the show, since it began being a cliché-superhero-series, instead of the quality show i enjoyed so much for the first seasons. The whole action is based on the love between felicity and oliver, what bothers me, because it's a cheap strategy the producers used to get audience from an uninterested public, which spends its precious free-time watching basic and plot-hole-filled TV-series.

First let me get started with the name of the episode "My Name is Oliver Queen". Now many of you must be wondering "What does this guy mean? It's a great name!". And that is exactly the problem of it! That is exactly what i thought, and that is the problem. The arrow producers have chosen to make an episode with an epic name and a basic plot line to attract young viewers to it, when the matter-in-fact is, that it was a disaster, In every way. The glorious Almighty R'as as Ghul, feared by every assassin, was very easily killed by Oliver, and the famous scene in an airplane, where Oliver screams "My Name is Oliver Queen", happens too early in the episode with no sense at all included. To put it in a nutshell, this season, and this episode in specific, were a complete disaster. Since Felicity shooting people and saving Oliver in the "Atom-Suit", to accelerated plot lines like the transformation of Oliver (that didn't AT ALL work out), this was a series to forget for me. And this episode is the reason i stopped watching Arrow, and created an IMDb account, so that I can state my opinion about this disaster and vote it with a "1".
