Time passer
npjy8313 January 2021
The movie is only 74 mins in length. It's a decent time passer which will keep you engrossed until the end. Has a decent ending. However to get to the end of the movie, you do have to endure some poor acting.

Horrible acting!
nataliatavi22 August 2021
The movie has a good plot but the acting is horrible. And how could the producer not notice that there's a blooper in the movie when the suspects are being chased by the cops. They are in a Chrysler 200 at first but in one scene they were in a Ford Focus and then back to the Chrysler 200 when they finally lose the cops and let the cheerleaders/ hostages go free. And then when the suspects throw an explosive and it looks like it slides under the cops car but then another car blows up that came out of nowhere. It's really noticeable and yet the producer thought that no one would notice? Well i guess he thought that "what the heck, no one will be watching this movie anyway, so no one will notice". Ha ha ha! Well i did.... So funny!

A first
Bgappl0713 November 2020
During this pandemic I've seen more movies than I've seen in my lifetime I watched this film in totality I think with a stunned look on my face I read some of the reviews by the critics and populace and I was amazed at the positive ones perhaps they thought this was campy ? Or perhaps it was the male reviews maybe they got blindsided by the stripper she was very pretty ! In any case I can honestly say this is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life.

I'm speechless

From the acting to the writing, this was easily the worst movie I've ever seen. I realized it was really bad after 15 minutes, but I kept watching because I believed it has to get better. It didn't.

Don't Waste Your Time - The One-Star Reviews Have it Right
dhubin20 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is obviously a low-budget film, unless the remarkably large group of associate producers were paid much. The writers and the director shouldn't have been paid at all. You know a "thriller" is a clunker when you find yourself laughing at the supposedly dramatic scenes.

The plot is preposterous. Two completely incompetent would-be thieves with very poorly though-out crimes are pursued by equally incompetent police to what's supposed to be a climax but doesn't really rise above the rest of the film, which is saying quite a lot.

The dialog is boring and, often, unnatural. The relationships are unconvincing. (The Sizemore character apparently falls deeply in love with one of the thieves, a stripper, after one night in bed.) The acting is barely passable by Tom Sizemore and worse by the rest of the cast.

I wouldn't have watched it all except that I was already into exercising on my elliptical and didn't want to get off to look for something better. On reflection, I should have just changed the channel randomly. Even static on an empty channel would have been an improvement.

The director, producer and all involved in this dumpster fire of a movie should be banned from the movie industry. This was an Assault on me!!!

So bad, it might actually be instructive
rhefner200222 October 2021
There's no doubt that actors sit around and laugh about the terrible films they've been in. They take the roles for money to buy a new boat, or just to keep themselves visible to audiences, or whatever.

Tom Sizemore has proven himself capable in major films like "Saving Private Ryan," "Pearl Harbor," and others. Here, he is slumming big time. I can imagine having a beer with Sizemore and talking about this movie. I'm sure he would readily admit that it's a total loser, and he ought to be ashamed of himself for being in it. "But the paycheck was good and the shooting schedule was short," he would say.

This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Not only was the script apparently written by a 12 year old, but there are actually glaring bloopers that the director didn't even bother to correct. The acting is wooden (Sizemore included). The cinematography is sloppy.

I can't believe I'm wasting so many words on this piece of garbage. But sometimes, watching, watching a terrible flick can be instructive. It's a good way to learn what not to do as a filmmaker.

There are "good" bad movies and just plain bad ones. This one is in the latter category.

This Film is a Hit Job!
lavatch19 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
"The Assault" had the feeling of a film school project due to the substandard screenplay.

Many of the scenes lacked coherence and logic. It made no sense that the two female robbers would hold up a convenience store and then burn their car. It made no sense that Nicole, the mastermind of the robberies, would seduce the detective. It made no sense that the detective would risk his reputation in a small town to get involved with a stripper. It made no sense that the Nicole would suddenly betray Lindsay in order to keep all the money herself.

There were actually some decent cinematic values with the winter photography and the location filming. Even the acting was good. But the cast should have demanded rewrites due to the absence of character development in in the script.

The preposterous situations and half-baked relationships made this film an assault on the intellect of the audience. It was a hit job!

So Nikki Moore is hot...but this movie blows
rcossio-9885522 August 2021
You would think by having Tom Sizemore you would get a decent clip. I mean he was awesome in Saving Private Ryan.

What happened did he run out of money and agreed to this garbage.

Well at least you get to see Nikki dance!

I watched the whole thing

I think I just watched 5.5 million USD get laundered. Like if the producers was more of a drama-doc than a fictional story.

Blue Line
Romulus19534 September 2017
A good action movie entirely shot in Connecticut, which sees as protagonist Tom Sizemore plays a hard-boiled detective, and actress Jordan Ladd; The best of the cast is anyway Tom Sizemore, in his role as protagonist if the quarry goes well although Jordan Ladd does not hurt her; the film despite the fairly good plot is well-rounded, with action scenes done well; ultimately an good action movie that if you cave it despite everything; the wonderful scenic scenery and snow- covered landscapes of Connecticut are to be mentioned; so good-looking, well-cast action movie, not sure of Oscar but still not to be thrown, anyone who likes genre can definitely enjoy it, for others to look elsewhere.

It was quite good.

Warning: Spoilers
I am sorry for those that do not like this film. I have to disagree with you. The Assault actually impressed me.

Tom Sizemore was everything in this movie he gave a great performance as Gary Broza the lead detective in this crime drama. After a robbery at a convenience store, it is shocking to see that two women heavily armed are the culprits behind the robbery and the murder of one of the women's husbands.

They are trying to steal $1.8 million but they failed to do so. One of the women involved had an infatuation with Broza and it doesn't exactly end well for her.

Overall I really liked this movie I think the story, the acting and the camera work was really well done.
