This Is Just A Glimpse At What's Possible

Episode three ends with an explosion. An explosion that leaves you wanting for more. And more you shall receive.

If you made it this far but are still not sure, give it one more episode until you make your final judgement. Episode four will decide it all.

From then on, the possibilities are endless.

Smart Money is on the Skinny...
aegiswiz-accede8 October 2015
I reviewed the first episode and thought I was generous offering a 6. I was actually. The good news is that not all things start out lovable. Some things you grow to love.

In that review I said I was only committing to 3 episodes. Now I'm in, period. The second episode had me binging on the 3rd. The only reason I didn't watch a 4th is it was well past "bed time".

If you've read the blurbs and promo info on this series, you know that the episodes are named after a quote in that episode. It was the scene with the "Skinny Bitch" that sealed the deal with me.

Why 7 and not 8-9-10? Frankly it is only that it is still early in the series and hasn't yet really bloomed. I fully expect this series to level out in the 9.x range.

Again, it is never a mistake to trust a project where J. Michael Straczynski in involved. I've studied writing for decades. Some, like Chris Carter (X-files) or Geroge R.R. Martin (Song of Ice & Fire --> Game of Thrones) seem to go brain dead or simply stop writing upon significant financial success. Others, like JMS and Dean Koontz never stop and never compromise on the high standards they set for themselves.

Don't misunderstand (Carter/Martin) a TV series can be successful without it's founders or creators (Star Trek series, etc.) but when you get a real talented and experienced pro who will deliver even when his budget has been mangled, (JMS) it's worth a watch.

Hooked by Episode 3...Love it!
shoguncrosse8 June 2015
The Wachowskis make a come-back! Finally...lol...This is their magnum-opus in my honest opinion...I was hooked by episode 3 once i knew for sure i was dealing with something deep, and cleverly put together...The connectedness says it all! If you've seen cloud atlas and understood it then you will surely enjoy this series. It is a multi- cultural multi-genre masterpiece with well developed characters and a steady moving plot with perfect highs and lows; and the highs are highs indeed! Very few shows give me goose-bumps from excitement and/or anticipation, but Sense8 will does this many times over. I've been waiting for this series with mild expectations, and will gladly say those expectations were far exceeded. Well done, 10/10.

Still too slow
TheDonaldofDoom1 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Now more of the characters' stories are touching each other, but they're still completely independent of one another. Don't get me wrong, the fight scene at the end was cool, but although it showcased that the links are physical as well as telepathic, it was still just a showcase. Three episodes in, and we're still not further than a showcase. This overly slow exposition is understandable given how many characters there are, but while an Indian wedding is fun to watch, seeing all these stories unfold separately from one another makes it hard to know where this is going. I hope it's going somewhere, but it's three episodes in and I don't understand what the point of this show is.

That's not to say none of the characters' dynamics are fun to watch. Dani's admiration of Lito and Hernando's romance is entertaining, for example, but Joaquin's perception that Dani is cheating on him with Lito takes up runtime that could have been spent developing the sensates' powers. The fight scene at the end is the strongest part of the episode in how it shows Sun teleporting to Nairobi and saving Corpheus's life. The way the scene is executed is excellent, pure Wachowski. More of that in the next episode please.

Getting more interesting, yet language issue persists
clashjam19 October 2021
The problem with the show is that the Wachowskis think little of the viewer. Why is is that EVERYONE speaks English. Never thought Mexican or South Koreans (or Germans) would converse in English when talking to each other. How about speak in your native tongue and add subtitles, like every intelligent show does?

Riley character, and the fact that the show will get better in the upcoming episodes are the only two reasons i'm still watching.

Get it right.

The characterisation of Australians as gauche and insensitive is simply untrue and weak writing. As for the efforts the actress put into achieving a credible accent? She missed by miles and made the character sound part Kiwi, part who knows what.
