In S4E7 'Cops and Robbers,' Castle says the bank robbers wouldn't know which safe deposit box they needed because the keys don't have the box number on them. Now, he knows which box to open because the key has the number 38 on it. (Note: Some banks use stamped keys. Some use plain keys, so when the box is surrendered, the lock and keys can be reused in another box.)
