I'm With Devilsgerbil on this one

Another episode spoiled by completely unbelievable moments.

For example, they bring the Jamaican Typhoid Mary aboard the Nathan James without any quarantine or examination at all. Sure, she appears to be immune to the plague, herself, but did anyone ever think that she might still be a carrier of the disease? Apparently not. They just pipe her aboard in the clothes she was wearing when they found her. Not so much as a hot shower--even though she came from a boatload of corpses that have died from the plague.

Give me a break. I can understand fudging naval protocol to some degree to heighten the drama but you have to at least maintain the main antagonist in this story--the plague itself.

Warning: Spoilers
This week on the USS Nathan James, the crew is experiencing one big surprise after another. The ship's communication officer (COMMO?) intercepts an SOS from a Jamaican fishing boat. It turns out the girl sending traffic is a sole surviving member of a very large crew. I can't remember how many were stuck on that fishing vessel, somewhere between 27 and 1.5 million (I like wide scopes.) The important thing is she is the only survivor and may be the only key to the cure. Are your toes on the edge yet? Just wait. Well the Mad Doctor (Dr. Scott) wants this survivor and wants her now. Here is a little background. The Doc has completely decimated her entire herd of pet monkeys and really needs something living to 'work on???' So the ship and crew are off on another mission, which opens up an entire sea-bag of surprises. First; that evil rogue Russian Cruiser is rooting around like a porpoise-in-heat. Third; the CO goes out on yet another landing party (with Tex even) and this time, manages to get himself lost (and in trouble.) Third; the guy confined is once again allowed into combat. Fourth; the Mad Doctor has almost run out of monkeys (already mentioned – but worthy a second look.) Fifth; this is actually a happy surprise…talk about a mixture of happy-spontaneity and shipboard gleefulness, the Nathan James gives birth to a helicopter (and this little guy is really cute). There is so much happening all at one. I am about as confused as a seven-legged octopus. What will the crew do? What will the CO do? What will the XO do? What will Tex do? What will the last surviving monkeys do? And I won't spill the beans. Watch and find out.

I can't watch this anymore . . goodbye

Warning: Spoilers
I loved the premise for the show, but enough is enough. The magical helicopter of convenience (which was absent during the crew briefing last episodes -32:01) makes another appearance, which when not in use is apparently stored in some extra dimensional foot locker where it takes up no space. GQ Captain Chandler must once again go on every mission, and take every serious risk, because his leadership isn't really all that vital to the welfare of his crew. The 50cal on the rib boat was actually an M60. . .can you even get the guns right? I can't watch any more. I wish the handsome/pretty crew of the Nathan James well in their fictitious quest to save the world in a dramatic and unrealistic fashion.

Well, well, well... The Russians are back!

The ship picks up a message from a lone survivor on a boat. The woman seems to be alive days after everyone else has died. Maybe she is immune? Captain Chandler decides to go and check it. All the while the Russians are on their tail, trying to get doctor Scott and a sample.

The episode moves in fits and coughs. Let's forget about Captain Chandler penchant for joining all missions. He must hate his ship, as he is always willing to jump into danger. Let's forget also about the security protocols that are run on the ship. It is just that the episode is not very interesting, in part because the pace is not very good. The beginning is interesting enough, but then it just drags for no apparent purpose. The character development is, well, a tiny bit better than the caricaturesque we have got used to, but it is still as basic as it comes. Some conversations between characters, a personality don't create.

Even in short season's shows we are bond to have some filler. This "SOS" episode starts OK, but ends up just rowing in circles. Help!
