Faith and Despondency (#7.10)
ComedyFan201022 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
My favorite episode of this season so far. Hope this is the quality that will remain for the very last ones. It still has a lot of action and cruelty we are used to, but it also involves character developments, important moments that explain us the characters more and moments that makes us wait eagerly for what is about to happen.

All the relationship part was pretty good. The scene of Chibs and the officer slapping each other before having a great sex between a criminal and a cop was great. The whole thing between Tig and Venus is awesome, as it shows us more of him as well as the great dialogue they had.

Juice is the character who always made me worry for him and it is not different now. Having him being raped in prison is not how I want it to end for him. I just figured out that Tully is Marilyn Manson. Interesting guest cast. Just like Courtney Love as Abel's teacher.

The scene of Jax telling Abel who his first mommy is was very sweet. Wendy sure got to wait long for this. And it leads to this chilling ending when Abel asks if this is the reason grandma killed his other mommy. What will happen now? After Abel blaming his self injuries on Gemma Jax will likely question what he said, but it sure has to make him wonder.

No Loving for Wendy
therunner4214 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Everybody handles their grief in different ways.

The episode begins with the key characters in bed. Almost none of them are alone and there are quite a few surprises.

It takes a few moments to see that Jackson is with Winsome (Inbar Lavi), the prostitute he rescued a few episodes ago. There are the usual suspects; Nero (Jimmy Smits) with a lackluster Gemma (Katey Segal), Chibbs (Tommy Flanagan) and the Sheriff (Annabeth Gish). However, surprisingly, Ratboy (Niko Nicketeria) is with a woman who is not Brooke. Tig (Kim Coates) is spending some time with Venus (Walter Goggins). Wendy is alone (and that won't change anytime soon) but she is still having fun. Happy (David Labrava) spends time with a high heeled lady but he doesn't look very happy. Juice (Theo Rossi) has more to worry about. He is with Tully (Marilyn Manson). It doesn't look consensual.

This episode is mostly about friendship and love with a little revenge on the side. Moses (Mathew St. Patrick) got payback (I hope that actor didn't make any long term loans based on his job with the show) and a new friend came good- Otis (Luke Massey). Even Unser (Dayton Callie) gets a nice pat from Eglee (Marya Delver) after saving her life

Juice has some worries with Tully's attraction for him moving in to high gear. He isn't going to be rescued by Jackson anytime soon who is almost encouraging. "He could use a little loving" he tells Tully.

Wendy was the only character who was alone in the opening love sequence and nothing appears to be changing on that front. While telling the story of how she is Abel's mother, Jackson says to Abel that he and Wendy were better off as his friends. He looks straight at her and the message is not lost. Perhaps it is because she offered to make him tea. Really Wendy?

None have bigger problems than Gemma though. Abel fresh from the news that Wendy is his mother, asked Jackson if that is why grandma "killed my other mummy".

Holy hell!

Will Jackson take this as the ramblings of a confused five year old or will he finally take revenge on a real enemy (the first time this season he has actually gone after someone who truly wronged him)? With only three episodes left, my guess is on the second.

And where were the Indian Hills charter? Somebody killed their president and they take more time to revenge his murder than my local council does to approve my pool fence (and trust me that's significant).

The acting remained outstanding. Charlie Hunman was pretty good but as usual Walton Goggins stole the show. No surprise there, he always does. Someone really needs to give that guy an award.

Thanks Kurt for remembering you have female viewers.

Watch out for Brooke though……especially now.

Mouth wide open...

I know I'm late to the party, but that was the best ending of an episode I've seen in a long, long time. I didn't cry, honest. And my jaw didn't hit the floor at the end. Honest....

At the 11th hour, one of the most touching and well-written episodes so far
maxime-lg9919 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
A lot of people would agree season 7 hasn't been the best in the show's run. Too many plots (in both meanings of the word) dull the power and the human element somewhat. A lot also feels like delayed action for the sake of delaying action.

However, to give Kurt Sutter his due credit, he is still capable of the occasional streak of genius. Throughout most of its run time this episode is on average better, and the last half hour contains some of the best acting and writing not only this season but in the series as a whole. Without giving anything away, let's just say it is not the action sequences (satisfying as they are) that are the best feature here, but the human moments. The scenes in question are quiet, shot with perfect sobriety (which is not always the show's strong suit... but then again this episode also contains graphic visuals of someone's eye hanging out of its socket, so even when showing restraint in other scenes, Sutter doesn't shy away from some of the over-the-top-ness that is one of the show's most annoying gimmicks). But when he lets the camera roll and the actors do the work while providing them with dialogue that is both clever and sensitive, we are reminded of the rich and relatable characters behind the gore.

It's powerful stuff.

That's What you will need to go on : faith and despondency
pablovete20 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This used to be a TV show that schocked you !! That's why Donna's killing or Oppie's death are still on my brains... Even Clay's death was good But poor Bobby :(( died for nothing and in a totally predictable way This episode with that "love " plots that deserves to be seen because actors are really good ! Tigg's and Venus ; Chibbs and Jagger : you can see how characters struggle and manages convincent actings for nonsense scenes Meanwhile Marks on jail -- nothing about that His security cheaf who had a curriculum is cheated as a boy scout and gets himself into an ambush while Tyler's able to free prisoners??!!

For heaven's sake : give me some faith and you're lucky after 7 seasons we have despondency of the characters ... but please there's only 3 episodes left : forget about all this nonsense and schock our brains out again

Set aside the faults of the episode to praise the twins who play Abel
ameliek817 August 2020
There's still a lot wrong in the writing and characters, but that's not what I want to give attention to. The twins who play Abel... those little boys are AMAZING. They're doing better than some of the actors who've been on the show (like the guy who played Joey, Venus's son... yikes). So young and SO talented. Their acting doesn't look forced or fake, you can actually see and feel the confusion, the anger. Would not want to be their parents cuz imagine the things they'd get away with?! haha I'm just wowed by them. I hope Hollywood doesn't eat them up and spit them out.
