Garcia goes to visit Greg Baylor, who is on death row following an attempt on her and Reid's lives, along with various other crimes. The event which lead to his arrest was only a few months prior to this, meaning Baylor would've been arrested, tried, convicted, sentenced and executed in this short span of time. The justice system doesn't work nearly as quickly. In real life, it could take several months before the case is even brought to trial. After the length of the trial itself, it could take several more years before a death row inmate is executed.
According to the team these are the 9 Circles of Hell (including the ones they skipped over). Only the second ring is correct. The first ring is close, but Limbo isn't a punishment it's for those who lived righteously but were not Christan so couldn't be allowed into Heaven, it's full of philosopher's and scientists.
1. Is Limbo. For people who didn't accept god, punished by blinding fog. 2. Lust, blown around in a violent storm. 3. Gluttony, rained on and wallow in mud. 4. Greed, crushed. 5. Wrath, drowned in swampy water. 6. Heretics, trapped in burning tomb. 7. Violence, boiled in blood. 8. Fraud, chased by demons with whips and buried in excrement. 9. Treachery frozen in a lake up to their necks.

The team have trouble with the profile because they believe the unsub to be impulsive, so young, but also physically strong, so has to be older.
Other than the fact that they give no age ranges for these vague groups, men are just reaching their peak physical condition in their early to mid 20s, about the same age they're still young enough to be hormonal and spontaneous, but old enough to understand and avoid consequences. It really wasn't that hard to figure out. But they were just jumping to conclusions anyway.
Everybody knows that men's and women's prisons are separate, in Texas the men's and women's death rows aren't even in the same part of the state (there's an approx. 3.5hr, 225 mile drive between the two), so the only reason for Penelope to ask the woman visiting her "baby daddy's ex" at the men's prison if it was his ex girlfriend is blatant homophobia.
