Warning: Spoilers
Finally, the episode we have all been waiting for. The beginning of the two night crossover between Arrow and The Flash kicked out with a bang. And although it was strange at times seeing all of the characters from two tonally different shows combine, I was as impressed with how much I geeked out over it.

The villain, Chroma, was mostly overshadowed by the presence of the Arrow cast. But he did his job in creating a compelling conflict between the two. Their relationship throughout the 40 minutes was very similar to Batman and Superman. I wasn't too much of a fan of the cheesy intro Arrow had, but the fight was absolutely incredible. It actually reminded me a lot of the video game Injustice and how all the characters, although not equal with powers, have equal battles. I wish we had more than a 5 minute fight though. Take out all of the Iris-Eddie scenes. If you think about it she really didn't need to be in the episode, besides serving as Barry's Felicity. Although Iris is as whiny as Laurel once was in Arrow.

Seeing Diggle and Felicity was great. As usual they had the most laugh out loud lines, but also serve to what the audience is actually thinking. Diggle drooling over Flash was equally as hilarious. His conversation with Cisco about who will win was true comic-book dialogue. Speaking of dialogue, with the amount of characters involved with this episode I loved all the quick lines and the camera panning around to everyone. It was just really well directed. The training scene was also really well done. Not only was Arrow much like Batman, but the music combined both the Arrow and Flash scores. Being a score fanatic, it was just incredible to hear.

The ending was full with reveals. First was Olivers speech to team Flash about his secret identity. I really hate that all these people know who he is, it diminishes that cool aspect about his character. Nonetheless how funny was it that Oliver ended up suspecting Wells was up to something? Then came a few shoehorned scenes that I still found very interesting. The scene with Oliver and his former girlfriend felt off, especially because he doesn't actually find out that he has a baby. The Firestorm scene was also cool, but really only because it's Stephen Amell's cousin Robbie playing him. But I am interesting to see how they involve him in the show and his role going forward. Even with how cheesy this episode was, it was overall the best episode so far of The Flash.

+Totally geeked out over this crossover

+Flash & Arrow acting like Batman & Superman

+Fight scene +Diggles lines

+A lot of characters = quick dialogue

+Combining Blake Neely's scores

+Oliver suspects Wells

+Firestorm

-Iris & Eddie scenes

-No secret identity

-Shoehorned in scenes

Well this worked out perfect

Warning: Spoilers
So I have been a fan of arrow for a while now, and we can all agree that it has fantastic, and it didn't quite start that way. It has easily set itself apart from any other show out there for now. Anyways, when you combine an already perfected show(with developed team and they seem like they got it all down) with a total new team like the Flash offers, it turns out to be the perfect combination. This episode really takes a look at if Barry has what it takes to be a hero, he is still learning a good amount on a daily basis and Oliver begins to train him on the side and whip him into shape. Like i mentioned earlier with Arrow building up to what it is at now, slowly taking its time to amplify the storyline at any means and doing it with flying colors, and you combine that with the "new kids on the block" ordeal the Flash has, and the entire episode just molded together to be the strongest episode of the Flash so far. It is good that they still have mysteries behind the flash team and that it all isn't solved yet, it makes it eerie as the viewer to know everything isn't always perfect at home, which gladly in its own way Arrow doesn't need but it makes this show a bit more interesting.

All in all it was a great episode in the season and will be tough to be beat, I think we are all going to stick around for a bit more. Some comments I had about the episode: It was cool that Oliver was training Barry, I think they should at least mention that he is still keeping that up on the side. Barry needs to learn and even though he has a lot of strong figures surrounding him(kind of), Oliver can teach him the most valuable things that he needs to learn in this life before it hits him off guard and he is unprepared for it all to unfold. I also thought it was cool how we originally thought that Barry wasn't going to be effected by the brain clearing rage, then when it started to creep up on him it truly blew up in his face and will definitely have a ton of backlash in the later episodes of the season. The crossover was some great timing since Barry needed some bigtime help, and now he has even more on his plate so Oliver's intervening couldn't have gone any better.

Either way it was always nice to know the Arrow is watching over Barry and had his back the whole episode, I would've just liked to see them work as a team a bit more, but who doesn't like a good hero fight especially when they explain themselves well. That fight was the highlight of the episode, I honestly was guessing in my seat during the whole fight who was going to get that last strike in, and when Oliver triumphed with technique at the end I was satisfied with the fight and ready for it to end. like i stated before in my opinion Oliver had it handled, Joe and the lying DR just showed up at a nice timing. So, no, I don't think that fight was a tie, Oliver had the advantage there at the end, the Arrow just inched it out and I wish Diggle would've spoken up to Cisco, I like the new group but they need to understand they are not as safe and stable as they think they are and who better to tell them then Diggle? Ah well, next time, but for now it was an extremely entertaining episode with just the right amount of emotional tugs to leave you wanting more. I think the writers know damn well what they are doing here.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was a surprise in a good way.

It demystified the 2 masked vigilantes in a way that actually made their characters more complete.

I'm not a big comic-book fan and I always wonder how it's possible for such a totally different super or not heroes to co-exist and some times treated as equal. I mean there is an upcoming movie with Superman and Batman, but ...Superman is an extra-terrestrial with godlike powers and Batman is a ...rich guy with a cool costume! How is it possible these 2 guys to be "equal" partners or even more ...enemies? Superman can kill Batman in 1/100000 of a sec with myriad ways. And these marvel guys? A ...God from Valhalla and another ...rich guy with an armor? It is ridiculous.

Anyway. This episode was a miniature of that.

A Superhuman vs. a third ...rich guy with cool gadgets!

The writers tried to explore their struggle as much as possible. Things that had to be told were spoken, and a direct fight emerged.

I largely preferred this episode from any other. They pulled it through despite some necessary creative liberties. I hope they continue in the same fashion...

The Flash Continues To Surprise!
Jdmaxgaming5 December 2014
Flash VS Arrow was a well awaited episode for all us fans, I was very excited to see Flash go up with Arrow! And this episode was AWESOME! They made a bold move by putting two of DC most famous heroes in one episode, but it was definitely worth it! Great action! And I absolutely love the chemistry between Barry and Oliver. I also, love the way the story was written. The new villain seems to be pretty cool, and when Barry got mad at Oliver at the end of the episode, I was at the edge of my seat! It was intense for sure! Fantastic episode! Was it better than last weeks? No. But it was definitely right up there in the awesome meter! I'm gonna keep this review short and just say, this was a great episode, Flash is getting better and better and I'm so pumped for next weeks episode! - Jdmax P.S count how many times I said Episode ;)

Cool.

Warning: Spoilers
"Flash vs. Arrow" is the 1st part of a 2 part crossover between the 2 titular CW shows. Does it deliver? It mostly does with a fair amount of well executed moments leading to a satisfying episode.

The episode kicks off with (of course) another new meta-human. This peculiar meta- human has the ability to change the state of a person and make him/her lose their minds and become angry. Right off the bat, you know this'll play a large role in the quarrel between the two heroes judging by the abilities of the meta-human alone. Then, out of nowhere the Arrow appears, which leaves you wondering where the hell he was when situations like these happen (like every previous Flash episode), then again he's here for the crossover so let's take that off our minds for a while. The episode did a great job showing the difference and conflict between the two shows and superheroes, Flash's more fast paced and fun ride, and Arrow's serious and more mature tone. Their scenes together gave way to more development to the characters which is most probably why this 2 part crossover was made besides a treat for the many fans out there. The quarrel between The Flash's team and Arrow's team was also a fun watch. The scenes for Iris and Eddie were uninteresting and bland as usual, which begs the question why the show still consistently goes for this route and why not just scrap the idea and give us more Flash and Arrow scenes instead of them? As for the plot, it was fairly simple. A new meta-human rises, The Flash is affected by the meta-human, The Flash turns evil, he gets on a battle with Arrow. The scenes wherein Barry was evil seemed too cliché and reminded me more of a certain movie *cough* Spider-Man 3 *cough*. The CGI and action sequences were the highlights of the episode. More of The Flash's abilities were shown in a very cool fashion. Whenever an action sequence goes on slow motion, the CGI remains intact and superb. Going back to the protagonist of the episode, he was useless for the most part. He was only there to provide the conflict between the two heroes, and then he just disappears from the interest of the audience. He disappears so much that in the end, he just gets captured without even showing how they did it, oh well it doesn't matter as long as we got a battle between the two heroes right geeks?

Overall, geeks (admittedly like myself) will continuously praise this episode and the next one tomorrow. If you love The Flash or Arrow, you'll most likely like this episode, or be underwhelmed.

+Geeks and fans will love this one +The Flash and Arrow scenes showing the contrast between the two characters +The Flash's team and Arrow's team together -Iris and Eddie's useless show +Flash and Arrow training and battles +CGI and Action were top notch -Barry going evil a bit too cliché -Protagonist was wasted and was just a key to open a Flash and Arrow battle

Verdict: 9.0/10

This Arrow (mostly) on the mark
Fluke_Skywalker4 April 2016
As you can probably tell from the title, it's a crossover episode with the cast of 'Arrow'. I've never watched the latter, but he/they certainly work well with Team Flash. Flash/Barry and Arrow/Oliver make for a nice odd couple, their contrasting personalities and styles making for some interesting drama. And when the freak of the week infects Barry with something that causes him to go into an uncontrollable rage, it's on as the two costumed heroes square off (with far less collateral damage than their big screen DC brothers).

The freak of the week is potentially interesting, but he's too underdeveloped, having to share time with not only the Arrow stuff, but a rather unnecessary side plot involving the police station being taken hostage. The highlight is obviously the Flash/Arrow confrontation, but after Barry is cured he and Arrow make nice and vow to go get the freak of the week... which we don't get to see. The next scene is literally them walking into S.T.A.R. labs and putting him in a cell. Huh? But despite the misuse of the villain and the excess side plot, the Arrow/Flash stuff is strong enough to carry this episode over the top.

Flash Show as a Whole
grehfeldt175 December 2014
Being a Flash aficionado and collector of Flash comics, I miss some of the really central things to the Flash mythos from the Silver Age forward. As a starting principle, the Flash has the best Rogues Gallery of any superhero, hands down. There was no need for "meta-humans" and the introduction, character development and first appearance of all villains, save for Captain Cold, is being handled clumsily.

I fear the same is in store for the introduction of the Reverse Flash. Geoff Johns is one of the screenwriters and we are getting his ret-con version of the Flash's origin, working in the death of his mother. Other than the pilot where Grodd's sign is hanging on a cage, there is no hint of his appearance. Grodd, Reverse Flash and other villains are staples of the Flash stories. The key here is to develop new fans, without losing the old fans and Geoff Johns is nearing leaving real fans behind. Flash's costume sucks. One cool thing in the comics was his costume coming out of his ring. Here there is no explanation where his costume is, etc.

Johns also fails to recognize that the Flash is NOT a detective, even as Barry Allen he is a police scientist. The intro of Captain Boomerang is like a detective story. The Flash is a balls out confronter of bad guys; action is the essence of this superhero, not ruminating about who this bad guy is and why he is acting this. The Flash is not Jungian, he is Schwarzeneggerian. HE IS ACTION!!

We will see with Grodd and the Reverse Flash whether they can focus on titanic stuggles and leave the psychoanalysis to the professionals.

The Flash vs. Arrow
SpideyVerse2320 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was our first crossover episode of the Arrowverse, with Oliver, Dig and Felicity coming over to Central City and ending up helping the Flash. The contrasts and strengths of both the shows is very apparent in this episode, and I loved Dig's reactions throughout the episode. Meanwhile, Oliver helps Barry see how much more he still has to learn to live this life. We get a lot of great moments between the characters with all of them being great, especially the last conversation at Jitters between Oliver and Barry. Eddie gets a good storyline in this episode with him factoring in the main plot also, while the villain is just used to drive the plot forward. There are a couple of unexpected moments at the end which are really fun to see.

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Flash vs. Arrow
lbramson10 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Oliver Queen and Team Arrow come to town when a mind controlling meta named Rainbow Raider temporarily turns Barry evil. Hero vs. Hero stories always turn out fun and this is no exception! Evil Barry makes this one of the coolest, most awesome episodes ever that is written wonderfully! I still think Episode 7, 5, and maybe even 1 are stronger but that's not to take anything away from the first annual crossover! These crossovers get bigger in later years but very few get better. You know what they say, you can't beat the original! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! 1,000 more funs! What an enjoyable little episode! 9.2/10, that rating is on point!

Interesting episode
caitlinthompson-0301627 January 2023
I have a theory. I've been noticing this, that in this series I'm enjoying that every time there's an episode that includes a lot of violence, it's rated really high. That says a lot about us as a society In my opinion. Most of us claim that we don't like violence and no matter where it's from whether it's in our police industry or in crime in general or even violence towards animals we don't like it for the most part. But I ask, is that altogether true? Why is it we seem to actually like it In our entertainment and we find it acceptable in fantasy or fictional movies and books? Could it be because we're not allowed to express our violent nature in real life otherwise we would suffer the consequences but in a movie or in any kind of fiction we can actually embrace our violent side and not be punished for it? To conclude, I was watching this episode and I just instinctively knew that it was going to be rated high and I came here and sure enough it got a 9.2 rating. Perhaps it isn't just the violence as to why it might have gotten that high of a rating, It might be because there was another superhero The Arrow in this one but I think the violence had a lot to do with it actually. Just my opinion.
