Hashirama continues the story, now telling the founding of Konoha. The Senjus and the Uchihas joined forces to found the village. Little by little, houses and building were constructed, and the daimyos of the Land of Fire got in talks to form one nation. Hashirama walked through the streets and was greeted by the villagers, and he found Madara, to discuss the next moves. The daimyo requested a leader for the village, a Hokage according to Hashirama, and he wanted Madara to rule the village. Considering he didn't have a brother, Hashirama wanted him to protect all the villagers like brothers. But Madara was unsure, as he couldn't protect his own brothers. After remembering the past, Hashirama asked him to let it go, now other clans wanted to join them, the Sarutobi and the Homura. Madara was surprised, and his friend said that more clans will follow, the village will grow bigger. He asked him about a name, so Madara took a leaf with a hole, and saw the village through it. He suggested Hidden Leaf village, Konohagakure. Hashirama felt down as it was too simple, so Madara jokingly shouted that Hokage is not peculiar either, and how he keeps having that "depression" face. Hashirama felt that after so long, they recovered their friendship. Madara asked more about the Hokage's role, and the Senju told him that will be a busy man. He got the idea to sculpture his face on the rock below on the cliff, as a symbol of protection (and intended to change his threatening look). Madara liked the idea. But right then, Tobirama appeared, to give the message that the lords of the Land of Fire were at the village to talk. Madara gave him a serious look, with anger. Later, the two brothers were talking, and Hashirama told his decision. Tobirama said that if he wanted to appoint Madara was fine, but he had to hear the people's opinion, from the nation, and the ancients. It's not like when their father was alive. Tobirama continues, in any case, Madara won't be elected because everybody knows that Hashirama was the one to found the village, even the Uchihas say that. He also recalls the rumours, that stronger the hatred, stronger becomes the Sharingan. They don't know what the Uchihas are going to make. Hashirama stops him, and then listens something. He opens the window, though his brother didn't feel nothing (no other presence), and sees the leaf with a hole. Tobirama asks him to use democracy, and Hashirama agrees, while seeing the leaf breaking in two. And so, he became the first Hokage. A brief moment is shown (the current village with the five faces is seen), where Hashirama takes a break, and Sasuke, Jugo, Suigetsu, Orochimaru are shown listening. He proceeds: not long after, Hashirama and Madara were discussing next to the Uchiha's ancient stone. Only someone with ocular powers can decipher the message, looking for stability, a god divided the power in two, ying and yang, two opposed forces created nature. In other words, two opposed forces joined can bring happiness, but there's another way to interpret it. Hashirama tells he will handle his brother, and asks him to be his right hand, to help him with the village. People will understand at the end, and Madara can become the 2nd. But the Uchiha disagrees, surely Tobirama will be the Nidaime, and if that happens, he thinks the Uchihas will be eliminated. Madara warned his clan to abandon the village, but nobody listened. He couldn't protect his brothers, and now he can't protect his clan, they don't trust him. Hashirama still hopes people will change, but Madara asks if that time he should have killed his brother. Who would he kill to protect the village, Madara or Tobirama? The Uchiha says he understands what he says, but he can't do anything else. He found another way, and will leave the village. Their cooperation was just a silent battle. Hashirama protests, but Madara wants him to face reality. The Uchiha how looks at this world as entertainment, and says that while he goes after his dream, he will enjoy fighting him. Hashirama asks him about his new dream, if it's related to the village, what it is, but Madara says is not related, he wouldn't understand it. He says it's useless to run after him, no one can be behind him. That night, Madara left the village, their dream. But the other villages praised and imitated the system, inspired by the union of clans, and soon the other villages were founded with their nations: Kumo, Kiri, Suna, Iwa. Even small villages were formed (like Ame, Taki). That way, the dream continued. People didn't have to fight anymore, children survived til they could reach school age. But as Hashirama walked through the streets, Madara was gone. Without knowing why, the Uchiha attacked Konoha more than one time, and Hashirama had to confront him. On their last battle, he manages to break Susanoo, and release the Kyuubi from Madara's control. The battle was between just the two of them.

This part of the story shows two ideas. One, that the system Hashirama created brought the peace to the whole world. If it wasn't for him, his efforts of uniting two clans to create a village, the others would have been different. His idea, and how was executed, inspired everyone else. On the other hand, resulted in Madara's conclusion. Hashirama wanted Madara to become Hokage, but Tobirama and the village forced him to face reality. A reality that Madara got to hate and find unacceptable. Looks like while reading the ancient monument stone of the Uchihas, he found out all the story of the Juubi, the Rikudo Sennin, the Creation os ninjutsu. And he concluded that this world was unfair, he lost everything, his brothers, his clan, family. He couldn't accept that his friend was so powerful, and kind to everyone, including him. Therefore, the dream of the Infinite Tsukuyomi began. A world with no losers, suffering, death. Makes sense for those who lost faith and hope in life.
