The general idea is okay, the execution not enough though

"The Girlfriend Experience" is an American English-language live action short film from 2014, so this one had its 5th anniversary last year and the writer and director here is Mark J. Kunerth, who is mostly known for being an Emmy nominee for Friends a long time ago. Actually, this movie here as his very firstg directorial effort, even if he has worked on all kinds of stuff in all kinds of positions, just not as a director apparently. This is a pretty simple film we got here and it is up to you if you like the poster here on imdb. Honestly, it may look nice to a heterosexual male (or a homosexual female), but it must be said that it has almost nothing to do with the movie. This is about a young man, who is still not over his ex-girlfriend although they broke up half a year ago already. So after searching for in the internet for ways to get her back, he finds an ad that offers girlfriend and he pursues this idea and not much later, the girl of his choice stands at his doorstep. But what follows afterwards is certainly not what he expected because gít makes obvious that a relationship does not always only have positive aspects and here the negative ones are apparently far more frequent. This is the one lesson to learn from this film and there are 3 or 4 examples in the style of a sketch comedy basically. None of them were too funny, but the least funny moment is probably the little pilogue during the closing credits and how it leads us to believe there is actual sex going on. Oh well, this is what happens if you click a pop-up on the internet I suppose. The outcome for the man in this film is as underwhelming as the overall quality of these 7 minutes. I personally am glad it was this short because it did not do too much for me, even if it's not a failure either. I personally would say it's only worth checking out if you are a fan of either of the to cast members, maybe have seen and liked them on other projects. To me, they were entirely unknown I must admit and judging from their performances here, it probably isn't my loss. Skip this one. Thumbs down, not half as funny as it attempts to be.

Funny misogyny

If you can get past the glaring misogyny, it actually a pretty funny little film. Maybe the film was pitched after a couple of beers at the frat house.

The writing and production values are good. Erin Foster does a good job with her role and I hope she gets some better roles. (I missed "Barely Famous") It's a one-joke movie that lesser directors would have tried to turn into a full length movie. Seven minutes is just about right. Maybe even a little long.

The one joke is based in some really old, worn-out stereotypes about women. And when I say "old" -- I think "The Honeymooners" covered this territory and it wasn't fresh back then.

a mistake

A break - up. And the option for a new girlfriend for a young man. The result is far to be the expected one but it gives , in easy manner, a nice exploration of the couple life, expectations and few slices of mysoginy. And some scenes of old marriage. So, a decent easy comedy and the mistake of a young man using the annunces of net for a happy life..
