Scorpion takes a handful of socially inept geniuses and, pairing them with an empathetic "normal" person has them solving problems and saving the day for America or Los Angeles or whoever.
Geniuses are rarely socially inept. Like everyone else, super-intelligent people run the whole range of emotional skills. It's a Hollywood trope that "regular" folks like you and me can't effectively communicate with those few whose IQs are over 180. It's nonsense, and based on the first episode, the viewer has to manage a severe suspension of disbelief to buy into the storylines, as well as the premise.
Having written all that, it sure was a lot of fun. I can accept the premise without agreeing with it (and even though I suspect it's a bit insulting) and several of the characters are quite likable. Scorpion is fun, but I wouldn't recommend anyone take it seriously. I've only seen one episode, however; if the producers of the show start taking it too seriously it will fall over from its own weight.
