I'm not crying, you're crying!

This episode will completely shift how you feel about the Ant King. It's extremely touching to see how it all ends, and it honestly leaves you filled with dread and appreciation.
The most gripping moment of it all is in the credits section. Just the pacing, writing, and dialogue will make every uttered word hit very heavy with worry. I'd summarize the very end as so carefully written that it knows exactly how to make you feel what the characters feel.
I went through the trouble to create an account to leave this review, lol. It's that good.

The Best Episode of Hunter x Hunter

This is the most emotional episode in TV for me. Meruem and Komugi's final moments were very bittersweet. They died happy while holding each other's hands. They both claimed that they lived for this moment. In a way watch Hunter x Hunter for this moment and this episode as well. This is a masterpiece. Meruem died a Human.
Absolute Masterpiece. One of the most beautiful things I've seen. Art in anime at its finest.

The story of Meruem and Komugi is one of the most touching and beautiful I have ever seen. The Chimera Ant Arc started quite slowly but developed into an epic tale about friendship and loss. This episode embodies the perfect ending.
When people say Anime is only a cartoon

This episode is the culmination of a long arc in the anime. The dialogue and sense of ending are prevalent throughout. The unconditional love exhibited by 2 in this episode will make you question your empathetic feelings for animated characters.
Warning do not watch out in public because crying is not a good look.
The Best.

I have never written a review before but this episode just forced me to.
This is the best episode of any show I have ever watched.
A great arc and the perfect ending to it.
This show is just fantastic and this episode is the very pinnacle of it.
Beautiful.

Meruem's character arc had one of the most beautiful progressions I had ever witnessed. The development of his character had led to a beautiful relationship with Komugi. This episode possesses the power to bring out an array of emotions, mainly those of which that will make you cry. I could not keep my eyes off my monitor as it was truly a tear-jerker, and a beautiful moment.
Emotional ending to a great arc

The chimera ant arch may feel slow at times to some, but this is because the show takes the time to really develop the characters and plot. This episode brings an emotional conclusion to one of the best character arcs of all time in any show or movie. Try not to cry at the end of this episode!

The last moment of Meruem was by far the most epic for emotional release. Anyone who watched this episode probably had a box of tissues next to them when both Meruem and Komugi were set to play their last Gungi match together before he and his Gungi master died of acute poisoning. A result from fighting Netero who used a trump card against Meruem in the form of a dirty bomb called the red rose. A cheap alternative to the ballistic missile, but far more deadlier since its side effects are to poison a populace to almost zero.
Meruem knew he had little time left but instead of rampaging throughout his kingdom to look for Komugi, he decided to for-go a selection process that would ascend him to the throne as absolute ruler. Fearing that he would die before finding Komugi who was hidden by Gon's companions to be used as leverage found that cherishing life was far more desirable than just killing or eating his prey to help bolster his claim as the one and only king.
Komugi changed his fate on every level after their first meeting and match playing Gungi. Although she was blind, she was prepared to die if she lost just one match against Meruem and Komugi accepted this fact with true honour, humility, and resolve. This is what the king desired the most. To feel the power in his hands only to lose every match against her. This was how his fate changed. From a simple deduction by playing a game that anyone could play but on an extremely difficult level.
To feel powerless, utter dismay of figuring out the best move against Komugi, only to be defeated by her next move. It was what Meruem searched for as far as answering his own question as to why he couldn't defeat her. He had it all. Power, the will to kill or imprison a foe or even torture them because he could. Yet everything he knew as power was nothing all because of a lonely little gungi master who would never yield or never give up.
I found this episode to be one of those that leaves a lasting impression, which I find extremely satisfying. It held every element of being human. Even though Meruem was a Chimera ant. He found his own answers through every defeat by his master Komugi who never once let him win. To do so, would mean that the fate of every human was worth less than his own survival. Hunter x Hunter will go down as the most popular series to date along with Naruto, Conan the detective, and many others. The music is top notch, it's action packed with loads of humour, despair, camaraderie, friendships and betrayal. Plus it teaches how the human condition can delve into sinister arenas such as wars, or dirty bombs or even corrupt politicians.
I highly recommend this series to all anime fans who love down to earth characters who yearn to learn to help better themselves. Whether it's training for fighting arenas, or simply to expand one's own mind through the forces of Zen or any other mental attributes.

Never have been review an anime episode before. But this episode hit me really really really hard. No matter how many sins you have in the past, there will be a chance that you will find a way back. Yes, Meurem must die after the atrocities he has committed before. But finally he has changed. And he deserved to died as a human. This episode really left the big footprint into my heart.
Unexpected x And x Beautiful

Meruem vs Gon fight seemed inevitable. Until it wasn't. After Meruem survived in a fight against Netero, we all "knew" what was going to happen next. Until we didn't. This is a much, much better and a more beautiful ending than I could've imagined. Meruem, post Netero's death, started being less of an insect and more of a human, just to understand the depth of the feelings he had for Komugi. The chairman had it all wrong, and so did all of us. Again, what a beautiful episode. Character development is second to none. Even side characters are insanely well developed. Like all of them, not a single one left out. I had my doubts about the Chimera Ant Arc, but there's a reason it's so beloved and I see why.
Netero: At the end of the day, he's still part ant.
Meruem: At the end of the arc, I'm still full human.

May be the first time I've ever wrote a review for something on here, so I'll try to keep it short (and spoiler free). I don't think once in my life I've ever cried so hard watching an episode of television, the emotional buildup, the character development, the details, everything... is perfect. This may indeed be my favorite episode of television pretty much ever, what a perfect way to conclude this wonderful arc...

This was a beautiful ending to the chimera arc. The Ant King spending this final breaths with Komugi will pull on your heart strings. The ending could not have been more perfect. You will find it difficult to find another episode anywhere as sad as this. The Ant king asking if she could hold his hand at the end will leave you swimming in your own tears while struggling to breathe.
This Arc × and x This Ending

I am still a fairly new anime fan. I dig how intricate the stories, art and character development is. The Chimera Ant Arc is no exception.
Meruem and Gon being opposites of each other throughout. Gon steadily descending into darkness, and Meruem finding his humanity and light (Komugi). I never saw the ending coming, an excellent surprise. It is a true masterpiece; the final dialogue, the flash of them together in their afterlife. I had to stop watching the show for a couple days just to process my emotions. Easily my favorite thing I have seen in years. I will recommend this show to everyone because of this arc alone. (Not that the rest HxH isn't awesome) 11/10.

Like most of the other reviews all I can say is that this is an amazing end to an arc that starts out hopefull but takes a steep turn . All I can say is that this was able to make me cry even when I knew what to expect having read the manga. The episode does justice to its source.
Perfection
