It’s finally here, unless there’s something stashed away and kept secret, Assassin is the last film featuring Bruce Willis. Given the quality or lack thereof, of most of his later career output it seemed almost pointless to hope that he would go out on a high note, working with Jesse V. Johnson on White Elephant was probably his last chance of that. But could we at least hope that his last on-screen appearance wouldn’t be another embarrassment?
Alexa is angry and wants answers. Her husband Sebastian was a drone pilot until a work-related accident put him in a coma. She demands answers from his boss Valmora, the head of a private military operation.
Despite starting the meeting with a gun levelled at his head, Alexa ends...

Screen Australia.s decision to hand back the rights of 1,200 titles to the producers, effective July 1, will result in the reissue on DVD and pay TV of some films and TV productions that have long been out of circulation.
While few if any producers expect to get rich from regaining the rights, the move has been widely welcomed.
The agency has clarified that the concession applies to all projects, including features, miniseries, series and telemovies funded by the Film Finance Corp. and during Screen Australia.s first year, that were released or broadcast in the seven years prior to December 31 2008.
The handover has been brought forward by six months. All rights minus a 1% copyright fee revert back to producers.
Producer Matt Carroll is looking forward to exploring the potential of new revenue sources for Passion, his 1993 drama about composer Percy Grainger, which starred Richard Roxburgh. Beyond Films handled the film directed by Peter Duncan.

The Little Death and the Turkey Shoot reboot had multi-platform launches in the Us last Friday, drawing mostly positive reviews from critics. Magnolia Pictures released Josh Lawson.s sex comedy while EntertainmentOne is distributing Jon Hewitt.s Turkey Shoot remake, retitled Elimination Game. The Toronto Star.s Bruce DeMara opined, .Part comedy, part cautionary tale, The Little Death is above all entertaining and original. The title references la petite mort, the euphemistic French term for orgasm and there.s plenty of that. But Lawson.s feature film debut is much more, darkly funny, occasionally poignant and teeming with the unexpected..
The Los Angeles Times. Gary Goldstein described the film as .alternately silly and provocative, strained and funny..
National Public Radio.s Ella Taylor responded to the .winning humanity [that] seeps through the high jinks,. observing, .Lawson comes not to judge, but to assess the unintended consequences of sexual free play. He gooses prudery and political correctness,...

Did you know that Brian Trenchard-Smith's classic Ozploitation film, Turkey Shoot, has been remade into a modern action film starring Dominic Purcell (Killer Elite, Prison Break), Viva Bianca (Spartacus) and Robert Taylor? Me neither.
Packed with mayhem, stunts, and special effects, Elimination Game (still Turkey Shoot in some parts of the world) is said to be "a warped reflection of the global fascination with increasingly brutal reality-television competition game shows."
Synopsis:

Ventana Sur: To dub in English or not to dub and the challenges of day-and-date releasing were among the topics sales agents addressed in Buenos Aires on December 2.
Organised under the auspices of the Blood Window genre sidebar, session participants advised the audience of Latin American filmmakers to conduct due diligence when selecting a sales agent, resist the allure of high up-front offers and hold on to digital rights.
Considering the setting and the various nationalities of the speakers, thoughts turned inevitably to the business of maximising a film’s global appeal.
London-based Jinga Films managing director Rosana Coutinho recounted how Canadian labs approached her about dubbing Alejandro Hidalgo’s Venezuelan smash The House At The End Of Time.
“I don’t want to prostitute your ideas but there is a difficulty in the market,” said Coutinho. ” I can close a deal tomorrow on [The House At The End Of Time] if I have an English dub, but I don’t...

While some Afm buyers were sitting on their wallets and spilling blood this year in hopes of scoring Quentin Tarantino’s Hateful Eight, others were ponying up for the schlock and genre awe that still sells in Santa Monica. This year a new trend brought heat to the halls of the Loews: Ebola. Not just ebola, but ebola zombies. Is anyone out there ready to see ebola spread to the undead?
Here’s one way to defuse the tacky sensationalism of Afm schlock-hawking: Apologize in advance. “Is it too soon?” genre seller Rob Hauschild asked the buyers and lookyloos who stopped, did double takes, and even took selfies with the poster for Ebola Zombies this year. He’d break the ice with a smile and a sheepish shrug. “I’m sorry!”
The audacity worked; Hauschild sold Ebola Zombies to Germany and is closing a deal with a Japanese distributor for his Wild Eye Releasing,...

Australian films. share of the national box-office this year is destined to fall well short of last year.s 3.5% and the 10-year average of 3.8%.
Through last Sunday the 31 local features and documentaries released this year, plus around 20 titles that carried over from 2013 or earlier years, had racked up $19.6 million.
The year-to-date gross is $908.9 million so that represents a market share of 2.18%. Still to come are Paul Fenech's comedy Fat Pizza vs Housos (November 27), Jon Hewitt.s Turkey Shoot reboot and Jim Lounsbury.s mystery drama Love is Now (both December 4) and Russell Crowe.s The Water Diviner (Boxing Day).
So by year.s end the market share will probably be the lowest since 2004.s 1.3%.
Last year Aussie films and docs accumulated $38.5 million, boosted by The Great Gatsby.s $27.4 million. This year only The Railway Man (which launched on Boxing Day), Wolf Creek 2 and Tracks surpassed $2 million and no other title cracked $1 million.
