It's really not that bad. In fact, I actually like it

I honestly thought this episode was pretty funny. I like the idea of Howard having the opportunity to play at an Angels Game. I love the shots of Angels Stadium and the bench sets are really well created. It's great having Mike Massimino back and his nickname for Howard is so funny, giving a call back to Season 5. This episode has some funny parts like Bernadette yelling at Howard to throw the ball, Howard's weak throws and Mike's unpleasant advice to Howard. Although, the ending can be a bit cliche. I don't know why a lot of people consider this a poor episode, in fact I think it's pretty good.

"The First Pitch Insufficiency" was another pretty good ep of "The Big Bang Theory"

Warning: Spoilers
In a nutshell for this ep of "The Big Bang Theory": Sheldon and Amy are catching up on dates and invite Leonard and Penny for a double date to a pub. On the way there, Sheldon declares he and Amy are the best couple while considering Leonard and Penny to be in the bottom. This doesn't sit well with Leonard. Meanwhile, Howard has been picked to throw the first pitch for Space Day at a baseball game. Bernadette offers to help him while Raj comes along and occasionally heckles him. I'll stop there and just say this was pretty funny especially when Howard does some practice moves that frustrates Bern so much she yells at him to just throw the ball! (I thought of the moments of "The Honeymooners" whenever Ralph Kramden does the same thing to Ed Norton whenever he procrastinates. Turned out so did Chuck Lorre since on his vanity card for this ep, he admitted as much.) And it was touching what Leonard said to Penny near the end. So on that note, "The First Pitch Insufficiency" was another pretty good ep of "The Big Bang Theory".

First time ever: So bad I stopped before half-way.
wd-823 October 2014
This episode was so bad and dull and mean, I stopped before half-way through.

These writers are destroying one of the best comedies ever on TV. Why? Are they inept, do they have broken egos and want to "claim the show as their own", or do they actually hate the characters?

Series 8 has been 80% awful so far. I continue to watch, but not sure how much longer.

I would be curious what Lorre really thinks about his wonderful creation dragged into the dirt.

Avoid series 8 if you love this show.

So bad. Couldn't finish first time

I had to wait to watch the end of the episode it was so bad air time. then the ending was the worst part even. Would give a negative 10 if I could. I suggest skipping unless you enjoy watching a sadistic take on a sitcom show. Not even just the ending. The rest of the episode may as well be a situational adventure, instead of the seasons ago comedy. hope the rest of the season gets better. Have to rate 1* for IMDb.com ... Anyway, it is also the tiny things that make this episode bad. Usually you can expect to have a funny moment when nerds attempt sports. Not in this, again, we land on sadistic. The ending was absolutely terrible. I won't spoil it, but, it may be worse than Howard's space trip.

Possibly the lamest episode of the whole series

Wow. I am a really big fan of this show and I have never been this disappointed by an episode before. This is the first episode I can remember, which just did not deliver in terms of funniness. This episode is centred on Howard, which I think is a bad decision in itself; as in my opinion the centre of this episode should be someone who has been in the background in the first two episodes, like Raj, Leonard or even Emily. So I am a bit disappointed to have another episode focused mainly on Howard again. Anyway, my main concern is the fact that this happy was not funny. Like not at all. And that is not like The Big Bang Theory. It is not the show I used to watch and laugh unstoppably at every episode. I really believe that the writers can still save this show and bring back the funny episodes from the first five seasons. My rating is:

7.0

I'm Not Critical, But This Was Bad

Not much to say. The whole couple comparison was endless. Howard's inability to just throw a ball was even worse. Anyway, this one can be put in the stinkpot..

Just why ?
This episode could have been a good one. However, the end just totally ruined it. For the second time in 3 episodes, they decided to make fun of Howard. It began just fine when he practiced with his friends but then became more and more painful to watch. For no reason, Raj is horribly mean at Howard - even through they're best friends - and we are supposed to find it funny. At this point, I don't understand how Howard is still friend with this band. The writers seem to be out of new ideas and decided to use the same old jokes that aren't funny anymore. Please stop to ruin this show because it used to be so good. I really like Howard and I cannot stand to sée him bullied by his own friends.
