I tried watching this with my girlfriend (who is Vietnamese), and like many Asians she loves loves ghost stories. And I applaud HBO to continue to try new programming.
Although I will NOT forgive the absolute TRUE HORROR of having being subjected to "Serangoon Road" (the first HBO Asia foray into regional programming) because it was an offensive, ridiculous, unforgivable mess. Though "Grace" ultimately was unwatchable, it was quite original and brave. Sadly, most of the people I know (who love cinema) could not get through even one entire episode. I tried three times: the film revolves around a troubled Asian family who have made mistakes and 'spirits' punish them... that is the plot. There were no drugs in my system, but felt that the murder scenes, hangings, suicides, lips stitched shut, all were meant to portray powerful imagery but made me sick and disoriented. There was no joy or point to going down the twisted rabbit hole of this series... please tell the Tony Tilse guy to stay out of serious film ... please do not allow him to pollute the airwaves over our homes again : ) ...
