Best Plot & Action Ever
garysteinweg1 August 2014
Took me two weeks to watch this episode as I'm recording several series on the DVR. Single word review: WOW!!!

This episode is obviously the promo for a related "spin-off" series as all sorts of new people were introduced. Also introduced was all manner of new "technology" and almost non-stop action. The story was very well spun, leaving us/me guessing wrong until the very end.

If there's to be a new series, it's going to be one that I will really want to watch.

If you can somehow find this episode to watch, it's definitely something you'll be glad you did.

Update 5-1/2 years later (2021-04-14). A couple weeks ago, I recalled this episode and thought I'd see if anyone's doing reruns. Lo and behold, Lifetime is. Could not believe my luck. Set the DVR to record. Most of the action takes place in the last 15 minutes. BUT, the BEST (in my opinion) 2-3 minute scene that takes place in the on-site command center was TOTALLY cut out to allow for 5 MINUTES of commercials before returning to a mundane 2 minute close out of the episode. I was going to keep it, but not now.

This was one of the best Major Crimes episodes

I'm not sure if there was a thought to have another spin off with SOB like a trivia item says or not, but if it wasn't it should have been. The spin off would have had some fantastic actors and would have been exciting.

I wish MC would have had more episodes like this as they are very sporadic in having action.

Also just for the record, Fritz's difficulties in identifying the deceased couple was either completely incompetent or a horrible technical advisor as it would never have taken so long. Also while he says there are over 17k law enforcement agencies, there are not that many that perform witness relocation. Also the FBI does not do witness relocation as it is a job assigned to the US Marshals. The number of police agencies that actually perform relocation that include a name change is less than 10 as most if needed use the Marshals because they have the infrastructure in place to perform it.

Warning: Spoilers
First time reviewer.

I have just got to say this is the BEST episode I have seen on Major Crimes. And arguably, the best police drama episode on TV.

They say I have to write one thousand words to be able to post this review but I have no plans to post spoilers so that will be quite impossible.

I apologize for my rambling.

Oh, also, it seems there is a new female ADA on the show. Not sure if she is going to last unlike the others. I had a love/hate feeling towards the previous Hispanic ADA (The one that Sanchez liked).

Okay...I have always loved The Closer and Major Crimes and every episode is excellent but this one blew me out of my seat!!!! The suspense and plot line...throughout the entire episode...I'm absolutely blown away!!! The acting and writing...when Fritz comes around the corner and put the gun to the fathers head blows him away...I never saw that coming!!!! I'm still shaking and smiling from this incredible episode!!! In my opinion...Law and Order + SVU, The Closer and Major Crimes are still and always will be the best cop shows of all time!!!! It's always been excellent but this was special...a perfect 10!!!!

Best of Season!

Could there be a spin off in the works? God, I hope so! Intense and kept me guessing as to the ending of the story. It is one that I will be watching again to ensure that I grasped the entire storyline. I did find the City Attorney highly annoying and a bit unbelievable. It was wonderful to see Jon Tenney back and possibly looking at a new show (fingers crossed!). I will say that there were parts of this episode that were a bit tougher to watch due to significant violence, but I got past it. Also, there was further expansion into Lt. Cooper's character which was thrilling because it looks like Major Crimes is making him a regular. In some ways, I am liking this show even more than The Closer. It is a bit more intense. This show just keeps getting better and better.

Incredible Story and Storytelling
aumufan242 May 2023
I've been around long enough to have been watching police shows since the 1960s, and it is a genre I surely enjoy very much. THIS episode of Major Crimes is in the top 3 of all the police shows I've watched. The story is so very believable, the acting is superb, the direction is superior. The plot induces a classic dilemma and because of the nuances of the story, several different LAPD units are required to be involved. From people who were in the witness protection program being murdered at close range, to missing children, to various possible suspects, right to the very end this script had me on the very edge of my seat. As a fan of this show I grew to love these characters even more from this episode. Yes, I will watch it again at some time.
