Set in a Japan where the railways were never privatised protagonist Naoto Takayama has just begun his training. He hope to become a driver one day but ends up training in the security department with a group of mainly female trainees. Over the course of the series they will have to deal with a number of situations; not all of them security related.
The title of this series is somewhat confusing as there are rails but no wars I believe the light novel series on which this is based of features a group which fights to privatise the railways but they don't feature here. Instead we get a succession of dramas, some comedy and a fair amount of fan service! While the latter isn't extreme it is a bit gratuitous and may put some people off although I confess I couldn't help laughing at the scene where a model train is derailed when it bumps into one of the girls' breasts! There may be another boy in the group but this show is to all intents a harem show with Takayama at its centre; no opportunity to get him in an awkward situation with the girls is missed. Not all of the humour is of a sexual nature; female lead Aoi Sakurai provides quite a few laughs her gung-ho attitude. The animation is of a high standard; I was particularly impressed with how the 3D animation of the moving trains fitted in with the 2D character animation. Overall this is a bit of a guilty pleasure which I'm sure some will hate but I rather enjoyed.
