Egyptian actor Mohamed Karim is teaming up with Hit Man producer AGC Studios on Judgment of the Dead, a possession thriller with an Egyptian spin, with Stuart Ford’s AGC will co-produce with Karim’s Mk Global Entertainment.
Karim, a major star in the Middle East, who has appeared in such indie actioners as A Score to Settle alongside Nicolas Cage and A Day to Die with Bruce Willis and Frank Grillo, will produce and star in Judgement of the Dead, playing Dr. Sherif Hawass, a renowned Egyptologist who must save the world, and the woman he loves, after an artifact he unearths releases an ancient evil. Thomas M. Hewlett penned the screenplay to Judgement of the Dead based on Karim’s original idea.
Karim is known across the Middle East for his roles in popular Ramadan soaps and as a former host of the Arab language version of singing talent format The Voice.

“Bikini Blue” director Jarek Marszewski will direct the 1920s-set euthanasia drama “Iron Ribbon,” for which Los Angeles-based Egyptian actor Mohamed Karim is attached and Tom Hughes (“The English”) is in advanced talks.
The English-language romantic thriller, which is being produced by London-based Daniella Gonella and Jay Michaelson’s Dg Productions, is based on the true story of rising Polish stage star Stanislawa Uminska, who in 1924 killed her cancer-stricken fiancé in Paris upon his request as an act of euthanasia. She then stood trial, but was set free by the French court.

Hugh Jackman’s first solo outing as Wolverine was the only one that didn’t draw inspiration from an established comic book arc, so it was surely no coincidence that X-Men Origins turned out to be the weakest by far. James Mangold’s sequel incorporated many elements from Frank Miller and Chris Claremont’s acclaimed 1982 arc that took the mutton-chopped mutant to Japan, and while it devolved into typical CGI histrionics during the third act, it was a vast improvement on its predecessor.
Logan was even better, of course, and comfortably ranks as one of the finest comic book blockbusters ever made. Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s Old Man Logan served as the basis for the storyline, but that was more in terms of the bleak dystopian future and a hero ravaged by time and circumstance rather than the content of the movie itself.

Disney Television Studios has launched a major rebrand of its three studios, 20th Century Fox Television, Fox 21 TV Studios and ABC Studios/ABC Signature. The move comes nearly 18 months after Disney’s $71.3 billion acquisition of key 21st Century Fox assets and seven months after the Disney-owned film companies — 20th Century Fox Studios and Fox Searchlight Pictures — dropped “Fox” in January to become 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures.
ABC Studios and its cable/streaming subsidiary ABC Signature, led by president Jonnie Davis, will merge into one studio entitled ABC Signature. The Beach House is a post-apocalyptic thriller. To show on Shudder in July, the film was developed by indie horror director Jeffrey A. Brown. In Brown's film, a family retreats to a remote family home. Here, they struggle with isolation as an environmental contagion begins to warp the local peace. The Beach House stars: Jake Weber (Dawn of the Dead), Noah Le Gros (A Score to Settle) and Liana Liberato. Now, a couple of early stills are available before the release. The filmmakers have described the allure of The Beach House, recently. They describe The Beach House as "an indie apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that presents an alluring mix of scorching seaside imagery, claustrophobic isolation, mysterious contagion and gruesome body horror." All of these elements mix in a small locale, this July. On July 9th, Shudder will debut the film. To show in the UK, Canada, U.S. and Ireland, The Beach House...

A group of young, scrappy and brilliant writers penned some of the most accomplished dramas presented live during the Golden Age of TV in the 1950s. Writers such as Paddy Chayefsky, J.P. Miller (“The Days of Wine and Roses”), Reginald Rose (“Twelve Angry Men”), Tad Mosel (“The Haven”), James Costigan (“Little Moon of Alban”) and Horton Foote.
But the most influential and best-known of these writers was Rod Serling, who became a superstar as not only creator and writer but host of the landmark 1959-1964 CBS sci-fi/fantasy anthology series “The Twilight Zone,” for which he won two Emmys for his writing. “The Twilight Zone” and even his less successful 1970-73 NBC anthology series “Night Gallery” has overshadowed his earlier work for which he won three Emmys for his writing.

Nicolas Cage is known to many as the treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates from Disney’s “National Treasure” and “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” but it turns out the Oscar-winning actor dabbles in treasure hunting in his personal life. In an extensive, career-spanning interview with The New York Times, Cage reveals to reporter David Marchese he once went on a real-life “quest” to find the legendary Holy Grail.
“That was the time when I almost went on — you might call it a grail quest,” Cage said. “I started following mythology, and I was finding properties that aligned with that. It was almost like ‘National Treasure.’ Of course, that didn’t sustain.”
Cage continued by saying he became obsessed with figuring out the Holy Grail’s location. Asked by Marchese to clarify his “quest,” Cage explained, “You read a book, and in it there’s a reference to another book, and then you buy that book,...

It’s been nineteen years since Frank “Frankie Fingers” Carver (Nicolas Cage) has been a free man. He’s made the best of prison despite being there for a crime his mob boss Max (Dave Kenneth MacKinnon) committed. What other choice did he have? With his wife dead, his son (hopefully) a reformed junkie, and his money buried behind a home he no longer owns, there wasn’t much else to do but try and enjoy what little control he had over what was left. And since he was serving a life sentence for murder, it would of course mean one more tragic circumstance to earn this long sought after day in the sun. Rather than exoneration, Frank has been given clemency as a result of his own mortality. He’s dying.

As the calendar creeps closer towards the Halloween season, we have a brand new month of VOD and Digital releases coming our way throughout the month of August. Things kick off on the 2nd with the latest installment of Blumhouse’s Into the Dark series, School Spirit, and the directorial debut of Jason Mewes, Method in the Madness, also hits various platforms the same day.
August 6th is a very busy day for digital releases, as we have 10 different films coming out that day, including Brightburn, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The Night Sitter, and Perception. Nekrotronic, featuring Monica Bellucci, arrives on the 9th, and just a few days later, The Banana Splits Movie hits digital on the 13th, and I’m still not sure what to make of it, but I will definitely be watching that night to see just what on earth they’ve done with these classic TV characters.

Here’s a weird little Nicolas Cage trailer for you to check out for the upcoming film A Score to Settle. I can’t tell how serious I should take the movie. It seemed like a decent revenge story, but then got a little cheesy when Cage confronted the teenage hooligans. But Cage is super into it, so maybe we should be too. Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Diagnosed with a fatal condition, Frankie Carver (Nicolas Cage) is released from prison after serving 19 years of hard time. With only a short time left to live, Frankie must desperately try to make amends with the son he left behind while he plots a bloody course of revenge - tracking down his old gang to make them pay one by one.

"What if you get killed first?" "At least I get to take a few of them down with me..." Ready for more Cage madness? Rlje Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie action drama titled A Score to Settle, the latest from filmmaker Shawn Ku (Beautiful Boy). Nicolas Cage stars in this in another crazy indie role to go with all of his other crazy indie flicks recently. Cage plays an ex-enforcer for a local crime syndicate who has vowed to enact retribution on his mob bosses after 22 years of wrongful imprisonment. The only thing diverting his violent plans is a new found relationship to his beloved son. The full cast includes Benjamin Bratt, Noah Le Gros, Mohamed Karim, Karolina Wydra, & Ian Tracey. I'm not even sure just how much action this will have, but it definitely does look like it has the perfect amount of rage for Cage to rock.

For the past couple of years Egyptian star Mohamed Karim, who is known across the Middle East as a former host of talent show “The Voice of Arabia” and for roles in popular Ramadan soaps and local pics, has been pursuing a Hollywood career. He recently landed a plum role alongside Nicolas Cage in Highland Film Group’s indie action thriller “A Score to Settle,” directed by Shawn Ku, whose debut “Beautiful Boy” (not to be mistaken with the current Felix Van Groeningen pic by the same title) made a splash. Karim started dreaming about Hollywood while attending his final high-school year in L.A. He talked to Variety during the Cairo Film Festival about his struggles in the U.S. biz with racial stereotypes and why he’s happy to start breaking them with “A Score to Settle,” expected to hit U.S. screens next summer. Excerpts.

Nicolas Cage didn’t walk the red carpet at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, but his name was everywhere. At the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar, the actor’s wild-eyed performance in the revenge saga “Mandy” reminded cinephiles that while his penchant for overacting can border on parody, he’s a true creature of cinema. Sundance audiences embraced it as a genre experiment; the Cannes reception took it global. “For years, Nicolas Cage’s more extreme performances have been derided as a blight on cinema,” wrote Robbie Collins in The Telegraph, “but it turns out that cinema just had to catch up.”
Directors’ Fortnight, where Cage won similar approval two years ago as the self-absorbed criminal with a Humphrey Bogart obsession in Paul Schrader’s “Dog Eat Dog,” proved to be only one of several ways for the Cage brand to remain current at the world’s most prominent film gathering. Several Cage...
