Sex & Nudity

  • S1- No Nudity in first season some kissing scenes. Man and woman make out in car but nothing can see
  • A teenage boy is shown multiple times in a swimming pool. Later, a man and woman are kissing each other in various places, and the man tries to undo the woman's bra, but she stops him and no more than kissing is shown beyond that. Violence & Gore

  • Violence normally depicts shootings, stabbings, and fist fighting.
  • When the violence gets stronger, zombies are shown being wiped out more brutally. Blood, intestines and severed body parts can be seen.
  • An extremely graphic torture scene in season one - most of it is offscreen but very hard to watch and graphic wounds are shown as well as the pain of the man being tortured.
  • Season 1 is easily the most violent season even though it is by far the shortest. Every episode is EXTREMELY graphic, gory and violent. Every single time a zombie or human is killed it is very graphic and disgusting. There is also a very graphic torture scene.
  • A man beats and strangled two men who killed his son to death. This scene is incredibly graphic and prolonged as it feels like it will never end and incredibly brutal and explicit wounds are shown as the men scream in fear and pain. The amount of graphic blood throughout the scene is nearly nauseating. Easily the most violent scene in the whole show.
  • A zombie bites a man's nose off in graphic closeup before biting a lady's fingers off. A man then gouges the zombies eyes out. Extremely graphic with a lot of blood flow.
  • A teenage boy's throat is cut.
  • A soldier is shot in the head.
  • A man is shot in the head in a hospital.
  • A man is stabbed in the chest with a sword before the sword is dragged along his body.
  • Violence is strong but not overly gruesome and the only blood normally shown is on the zombies clothes.

Profanity

  • Very infrequent strong language in season 3.
  • Language is very rare, and when a curse word is uttered, it is generally very mild. Only two uses of "fuck" throughout the entire series.
  • A song says "I don't fucking care" 4 times.
  • Casual strong profanity involving "shit," "asshole," "bitch," "goddamn," and many others. There is at least one censored use of "fuck" in the first episode.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the main characters is a drug addict, and needles for heroin are shown, as well as the withdrawals after he goes cold turkey. A drug deal goes wrong.
  • Drug addiction is a theme throughout the show.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A few jump scares.
  • The general theme is people returning from the dead. This may be frightening to younger viewers
