Spoilers, Mini Recap: Setting up the Season-3 Finale
LiannXXX20 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The twelfth of thirteen episodes sets up for the cliffhanger episode. Kiera has now paired up with time traveler Brad Tonkins, both lost in a timeline which has unpleasant consequences for their futures. Tonkins, we learn, killed Kiera (Green Kiera) as collateral damage while lying in wait for Alec Sadler with mentor and partner Curtis Chen. In this episode we are shown Chen revived by some wizardlike person laying on of hands in the Guardians stronghold of Catherine's cell. We are informed that this is the Time Traveler Prime, who has gone back 1,000 years with technology inside him to set up the Guardians as Catherine calls her group.

The "timing" is off, as words on the screen show that "three months ago" Chen was revived, which coincides with his arrival from Brad Tonkin's time "12 weeks ago", bringing Tonkins back after training him. Chen was told on revival that he was gone for "months", but he was killed in 2012 season 1, episode 3, two+ years ago. Chen was told that he was "merged" which bothers him as a "violation". I guess he takes the violation seriously because he kills Catherine and the last surviving Guardian after Kiera & Brad storm the Guardians stronghold to liberate Red Alec from captivity. Chen liberates the wizard-guy from a private dungeon where Catherine has imprisoned him.

Sonya Valentine meanwhile prepares a sabotage for Piron's Halo, a digital virus which creates a super-fear response to Halo wearers. She is captured leaving Piron and taken to the precinct where Dillon gloats. Her capture was part of her plan, which is true to the bitter end to fight for her beliefs by becoming a suicide bomber and taking Dillon down with her.

The word poignant ought not be overused because it is reserved for moments like when Travis Verta receives a text of her demise.

Another Alec-Kiera confrontation, this time with Red Alec, who understandably is bitter about being put into Guardian's jail, ultimately is glossed over after Red Alec gets a night with Emily. Piron Alec is informed by Kellog's omnipresent surveillance that Escher would envy that Red Alec and KIera have joined forces again. The episode ends with Piron Alec glowering in a pique.

Next Week? Maybe the SLENDERMAN from the future will lay hands on Catherine and her Guardians, maybe lay hands and merge Sonya and Dillon? Zombie Jaworski gets his turn? There's still a chance that the writers of the show have not gone over the cliff with some hairbrained plot device, and mostly the season has been a solid Sci-Fi yarn, but occasionally They get to the brink of showing how easily a time travel story can get spoiled by just one bit of wackiness too much.
