Indie Horror
eddie-328262 July 2019
There are four roles in this film: the main star, her friend, the ghosts/creeps etc...and that blasted camera man. I so much wanted him to die, with all that zooming in and out, shaking like he's scared to hold the camera, going round in circles, and at some points, upside down.

Anyway, the film. Its in indie film, says so on the credits at the start as well. At first, you get to understand what each character is like, but at times, it goes on and on.

Oh, and word to the wise, don't ever hold the phone that has the music to most of the film, over a bath of water.

I guess the story is okay, switching now and then, so you even get confused as to what is real and not. I stuck with it to the end, and when it finally got there, I was a bit surprised and shocked.

I want my wasted time back!
NYAmicas27 March 2019
Let me pre-warn you, there is at least 30 minutes of absolutely NOTHING going on. It begins with two young women hanging out and drinking, the long drawn out conversations and their intense need to speak to each other almost nose to nose made me feel like this was going to turn into a lesbian film. I would have appreciated the movie f it had because between the bad acting and dull scenes I was wondering what on Earth was going on! Once the friend/lover left you would think it is now time for the fun to begun but there is along drawn out screentime of the young woman observing herself in the mirror and doing normal things people do when they're alone. The problem is every agonizing moment is drawn out and it is not interesting at all. I couldn't take anymore, the movie was going nowhere and I know I made a wise decision turning it off.

Bad

A young girl injured at home, starts to question her own sanity, after hearing creeping noises in her home. Very dull and kind of a boring film.

Give me what is mine.
More like give me back some time. Would have been amazing if the runtime was cut by 50 minutes. The bathroom creature was pretty cool and creepy. Good acting and It was a well made film. I just don't see why it was as long as it was. I get suspense but it's not that suspenseful. Well acted and well made at the end of the day. Just way drawn out for no reason in my opinion. I didn't hate it. I probably would have loved it if it was condensed.

Stupid and Boring

Plain and simple this is a very stupid and boring film of the year. No more no less! My rate is minus 20

Good reviewers must be the crews and family of this piece of pretentious garbage film.

Must Watch.
jenessalogel-9014318 November 2018
This movie is a Horror/ Thriller that will keep you thinking and interpreting your own meaning. It is scary, suspenseful, and a mysterious art piece. Alone in the Dead of Night had me and everyone I watched it with discussing the meaning and the effect it had on all of us. It is an extremely impactful and resourcefully done independent film. Unlike some of Hollywood's surface level big budget films this indie film has the substance to make you want to watch it again.

Gets in your head
Smgrte2358606 February 2019
A very claustrophobic slow burn horror film that really gets into your head. I don't want to spoil the ending, but it's terrifying and a fitting end to the film.

Cerebral Horror At Its Best
TheAll-SeeingI3 February 2019
In the usually-dubious horror genre, it's understood that so many films marinate themselves in freshly-liberated blood and annoying unreality. Only once in a great while does one cross your plate that is so intelligently taut and so precisely crafted that it sticks to you with some inexplicably weird but equally thrilling moral queasiness.

Matty Castano has reached that higher plane with the anxiety-inducing Alone In The Dead of Night, a film which somehow induces a savage smile as it simultaneously disturbs at the very highest of levels. Mallory and Gwen are two gals made believably great pals by the writing of Castano and his wife. Mallory has experienced the typical recent dramas that come with being afflicted with the everyday human condition, and Gwen is there for her as the unwavering support figure. As a token of her immovable friendship, Gwen gifts her traumatized friend a necklace, and off we go on our ride to the Dark Side, complete with discharging skin ailments a boatload of legitimately-felt tension. We know who and what Castano is allowing us to see here, but whether or not these manifestations are real is something he entrusts to Mallory's psychology, and to our own.

Admittedly, I didn't know anything about Castano before tripping down this rabbit hole. But Alone in the Dead of Night strongly indicates that the psychological mind bender is his indigenous turf. There's a load of classic Hitchcock in here, with carefully constructed craft and a nuanced understanding of what truly disturbs the mind. While Alone In the Dead of Night also incorporates impressive effects, those elements play a distant second to what amounts to a masterclass in cerebral horror writing. While the film's budget is an unknown, one gets the sense that any limitations there have only sharpened the director's focus on producing an infinitely otherworldly story within a tightly confined physical space.

Almost vexed me, just from listening to the trailer! Wow!

Looks like this movie will contain the internal horrors of being artistic. And also the extreme terror of what it feels like to be stalked.

Gruesome indie horror film
JGReviews4 February 2019
Alone in the Dead of Night is about a young woman, Mallory, who is tormented one night by a series of disturbing and horrific occurrences. Mallory must survive the night in her apartment as it is too dangerous for her to leave and she is unable to contact help with a broken cell phone.

There is a lot that goes on in Alone in the Dead of the Night. The film does a good job of blurring the line between what is reality and what might be the tormented visions in Mallory's head. Where the film excels is during certain scares that were very effective and made my skin crawl. There's some very well done effects makeup and there's one moment with a gruesome wound that I can't stop thinking about. I think Alone in the Dead of Night will be a hit with horror fans and particularly those who appreciate the very attractive lead actresses.

Everything about this movie was creepy. It started off slow but then it got very disturbing and messy. Some parts I had to close my eyes it was so disturbing and that's what u want out of a horror flick. Very edgy and kept my attention the whole time. Must see

Great indie horror flick
kisiel-13 February 2019
The filmmakers did a great job of making the audience feel unnerved! It is a great example of micro-budget horror filmmaking. I recommend it!

Creepy Psychological Thriller
bohemianpirate-871-38348717 February 2019
I'm not sure where to start but this was a mind bending horror experience and I was genuinely freaked out by the end of it. In fact, I am still thinking about the ending and want to scream just remembering it!! So, I believe that's the point!!! Great indie horror film with twists you do not see coming. Unnerving and disturbing, I recommend you don't watch it alone!!

A Perfect Nightmare !
WatcherOfTheSkies77730 July 2019
This indie horror has a very well realised atmosphere and a strong sense of claustrophobia. It's successful in it's scares and it accomplishes the psychological horror it strives for. Well worth a watch in the middle of the night.

Stylish and creepy

Claustrophobic and stays with you long after the credits. It does take a while to get going properly, but the girls are easy on the eye, so you don't mind the wait. Once the film's fully up to speed, it has some really terrifying moments. Certainly worth a look.
