Watch A Fool And His Money Meet Cunning Sharks With 'Gambling Plans'...
supadude20046 May 2014
"Without news our business is finished". That essentially sums it all up for a certain sports betting consultancy. To those who don't know it already: This show is all about a "betting consultancy" business. They desperately seek new clients at any given moment, precisely because their old clients are always prone to wake up & move on - each eventually being left with an expensive bill to pay.

Basically the show depicts their spending all day trying to tell a few impressionable (& usually 'cold called') rich folk, what to bet on with their money. Their bets are all based on certain US sports picks. BTW - Who even dreams up exactly why their victims, (I mean "clients) should 'take a line on the under' or "play the spread" on certain bets, is anyone's guess. For all the viewer knows, they may be entirely random picks! So far the show hasn't adequately explained their formula for 'pick success' - apart from concentrating upon the other angle, that is: call as many people as possible, and hopefully you'll eventually reel in your fish. Nonetheless, the cameras repeatedly show that their staff are spending hours of every day, doing just that - cold calling new leads (AKA 'news'):

"Good morning sir. Do you like making money? I KNOW you like making money. Now LISTEN TO ME, I CAN MAKE YOU MORE MONEY IN ONE DAY THAN YOU CAN MAKE ALL MONTH - DOES THAT SOUND ATTRACTIVE??? DOES THAT SOUND... (CLICK) Dammit he hung up on me!" This show is essentially all about a few sharks eating rich supplies of fish. And by the way, it's fascinating to watch.

Chain smoking S.S., the lead shark, and conspicuously 'HIGH' Octane 'Mr. Pirelli', are always ruthlessly predatory. For these are highly intelligent people praying on the highly gullible and greedy. What's more, because there is no shortage of such 'fish', their business seems to go from strength to strength. Or, does it? Still, their business always needs a constant supply of gullible new clients just to keep it ticking over. Otherwise there is no business. And where are their long term, old clients!? Exactly! Yet we are supposed to believe that their gambling picks are averaging yearly returns of at least 60%! Sure they are! And my old man's 'Santa Claus'.

Don't miss this most brilliant series. It's a fascinating window onto the psychology of sharks and fish. As such, it is indeed unmissable.

Awful on every level imaginable.
Burntout16 April 2014
Not only does the "docu-soap" feel of this "reality" show look cheap and fake (almost every frame of it seems to have been scripted); not only does the "Steve Stevens" seem fake on every level (he is, just look up the name Darin Notaro); not only is this insulting to the gambling community (even a beginner should realize the 71.5% win rate is bogus); not only is this show on CNBC (who has the infamous stock tout Jim Cramer); but it all adds up to a poor quality show because no one cares to watch this. If you do, it must be out of pity for this fool who thinks he can scam more people out of their money. At least he's in the right market...sad though if any sucker fell for his self-promotion. Shame on CNBC for showing such obvious trash.

A Fascinating Character Study, A Brave Reality Show
throwaway944925 April 2014
This show does not look or feel like any other reality show on TV... its refreshingly cinematic and from a "business" channel no less! This guy Stephens is a BOSS but he is clearly not really a good person... there is a ton of inner conflict and the fact that someone like this exists and is so aptly and artfully examined is fascinating to watch, at least for me. I wish more TV/Reality was like this as the possibilities of greatness for this fading genre shine through in Money Talks!! I watch this less as a sports fan and as a gambler and more the way I watch scripted shows.. for the character development and the crazy Vegas setting and to see into an insane, degenerate world I otherwise wouldn't. Thanks CNBC I caught this by accident and I am so glad I did.

All main characters are scam artists, this show is used to promote a scam to unsuspecting audience
Purewinners13 July 2014
This show defies all logic. All main characters are scam and the show itself is to promote a scam to unsuspecting and gullible audience. Anyone with basic knowledge of the sports betting will spot these guys as scammers with in 5 minutes of watching any episode.

The main character used to have another name in the past (I believe it is darin nataro or something along those lines) and he was a convicted fraud who did time for defrauding senior citizens through telemarketing scam. He cleverly changed his name to Steve Stevens because of this show so that search engine can confuse the people who want to look him um...because that name is also a popular musician's name.

The show i fully scripted with actors. All the clients are actors. They claim 77% win, anyone in the industry knows that it is impossible in the long run even if you pick favourites. There are people tracking and posting Stevens picks in some major sports betting forums and his real winning % is under 30%. You never see his poor clients in the show. In fact all the clients he gets are stupid and desperate people who are looking for a quick way to get rich and they fall for this scam. It is hard to believe that the network will enable these scammers.

In the show he advices his clients to bet 25 to 50% of the bankroll. This will make you go broke in no time. Professional bettors don't bet more than 2 to 3% of the bankroll in a game. Real professional services that actually win have track record of all plays and use conservative money management. For example, take a look at bettingresource.com. This guy simply lies and uses terrible actors to promote a scam. Everything is terrible from acting to the script. But I can see desperate people falling for this scam easily since its on a network TV.

Who watches this show?
sd-709-89016420 May 2014
So little people watch this show, I've never seen so little ratings on IMDb. (So far there are 12 ratings and 3 reviews)

As a business owner, I love Shark Tank & The Profit - Those guys made it, run a bunch of businesses and I Love listening to what those guys have to say.

But what type of scum are we seeing on this show? Confident stupid people, that's about as low as you can go! Oh and the taste... or lack of taste!

This show is so Tacky and has nothing to do on CNBC - Glad the last season is almost over!
