Batman Strange Days: Batman film noir
Platypuschow1 February 2018
Strange Days is an unexpected 3 minute Batman short featuring Kevin Conroy as the titular hero.

What makes it stand out from the rest is the fact its film in a retro black and white method with a real film noir feel.

Batman must come to the aid of a traditional damsel in distress who has been kidnapped by Hugo Strange and his minion Solomon Grundy.

Though it is fleeting the 3 minutes time is used well and felt like an old school Mickey Mouse cartoon, just less exaggerated.

Highly novel but I'd have rather have seen more.

The Good:

Has real novelty value

Really original effort

The Bad:

Grundy looks weird

3 minutes really limits it

Things I Learnt From This Movie:

Batman doesn't kill, but he'll happily allow a person to fall to their death

Brilliant for batman fans

The last review may be accurate to others, but to a Batman fan this is one of the finest pieces of animation you will ever see (trust me I've seen more batman animation than is healthy). It's based directly on Batman's earliest comics, and perfectly embodies the spirit of the days before Robin and the comics code. It's short and to the point, just like the earliest comics, and features Hugo Strange, one of Batman's first 'Rogues'. So if you LOVE Batman, sit back and view it FREE on youtube, you will not be disappointed. It has the feel of the animated series, but feels earlier, a wonderful prelude to them, another fine work from the fantastic Bruce Timm.

Good short

Warning: Spoilers
Solomon Grundy kidnaps a woman for Hugo Strange to take her blood. But Batman interferse.

I am just a bit confused because Batman let Hugo Strange fall to his death but he doesn't kill and Solomon Grundy looks a bit like Scarecrow from The New Batman Adventures for some reason.

The voice acting of Kevin Conroy, Brian George and Tara Strong was good. The art was just the same as the DCAU shows but still good.

Batman: Strange Days is a spooky short created to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the caped crusader. With its black and white gothic setting and Batman's 1939 version suit bring back nostalgia for the Batfans around the world.

I don't understand the hype

Warning: Spoilers
As a big batman fan I enjoyed the style, perfect characters and atmosphere. But the story is incredibly dumb, despite being so short. Having autopilot (DKR spoiler) on 1940-s plane with miniguns shooting gas, but fighting with a stone. First time I wasn't cheering for bats getting the lady. This short video for 75th anniversary could be really remarkable, but unfortunately we got a filler worse than DC Showcases. May the Bats be with you.

Not bad, but not innovative either

Warning: Spoilers
"Strange Days" is a 3-minute television short film from last year. Director Bruce W. Timm is known for his work on Batman just like lead actor Kevin Conroy. Tara Strong is one of the most prolific voice actresses currently working and Brian George is enjoying a successful career as well with appearances on "The Big Bang Theory" for example. So the cast is certainly fine. The story, however, isn't really that great. Its only somewhat new aspect is that Batman isn't exactly known for saving attractive women from bad guys. That would rather be James Bond's or Superman's daily tasks. Anyway, most of the movie Batman is busy fighting the main villains gigantic henchman, but there is a final confrontation with Hugo strange as well. The animation in here is really pale and it's actually a nice choice, fits the darker Batman atmosphere. All in all, nonetheless, a mediocre watch at best and I can't recommend it.
