Indie films are harshly criticized due to their budgets and lack of resources that Hollywood tentpole and big budget films ooze in. This was a well written and well directed indie thriller with good acting. Some were first timers and still knocked it out of the park with their characters. I believe with a bigger budget and more locations, things can REALLY get interesting in a sequel. Back stories and pre-dystopian scenes would be key to map everything together. Cynthia Cherry did one amazing job with only 2 filmmakers present. Not many can do that in this industry. And mind you this industry isn't for the weak! The cinematographer, Jarod Michael Leon is a name to look out for in the future. His skillset is something to behold. Let's make sure that a part 2 will come into play. I'm sure there are investors willing to take a chance on this storytelling of a future that will truly happen one day. It's just a matter of time.
When you watch a low budget film, you have certain allowances and understanding because of the limitations. But even with its ultra-low budget this movie pulled me in. I loved how they created the dystopian world, gritty sets, and solid cast. I was also impressed with how well it blended spiritual warfare, prophecy, and politics. Jacob really stood out to me. Patterson made him real and raw. He brought a calm intensity that gave the story emotional depth. As someone who appreciates and rents a lot of indie films, I love that this one had a strong theme and was though provoking. Its definitely worth the watch.
Another movie that I had never heard about. And stumbling upon it by random chance, of course I opted to check it out. I do believe in giving all movies a fair chance. And yeah, that means I sit through a lot of dubious movies. But I opted to give writer and director Cynthia A L Cherry's 2025 movie the benefit of the doubt.
The narrative in the movie fell rather short of capturing my interest, and thus didn't really deliver much of any entertainment or enjoyment as I suffered through the sluggish storytelling. I have to say that I didn't ever really clearly understood the concept of the movie, and thus found it hard to get submerged into the narrative. So writer Cynthia A L Cherry didn't exactly conjure up something memorable here.
I was not familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list. And that is actually something that spoke in favor of the movie, as I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen when sitting down to watch a movie. The acting performances in "Fair Rain" were fair, despite the fact that the script was rubbish.
Visually then you're not in for anything grand. Sure, the movie looks okay, but there wasn't really a grand display of anything on the screen.
This movie was just too boring for me to finish, and I ended up tossing the towel in the ring after suffering through 43 painfully slow minutes of absolute boredom. And believe you me, I am not returning to attempt finish watching this dumpster fire of a movie. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend for anyone to waste their time, money or effort on.
My rating of "Fair Rain" lands on a rather generous two out of ten stars.

While I have seen the negative comments on the movie, we all must remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The movie is very suspenseful and action packed and at least deserves an opinion of your own rather than that of those interested in pawning off their own opinion. A lot of thought provoking the mindset appears to have gone into the movie along with a script written to challenge an open vision on an imaginary world with real consequences. The filming is as good as any other film seen on Amazon, and could have you glued to your seat in fear of missing out on something. Check it out for your own-self and you be the judge of your own liking or not.
Read some of the negative reviews on this, but I enjoyed this flick - recommend you give it a chance.
Considering the likely ultra-budget to produce a full-length feature like this, the camera work and acting was great. Plot was decent if you're into post-apocalyptical genres. Had some unexpected humor sprinkled in as well.
They actually attracted some real talent for this - some of the cast have appeared in Law & Order and the successful series Dopesick.
Fair Rain earned it's place on Amazon Prime. Looking forward to seeing what else this small production group produces and perhaps a Fair Rain 2!
