Rip off, nothing original here.
antant-1383828 July 2019
The first 45 minutes are so bad and amateurish it's beyond, Then picks up a bit. Think the cast did there best with a pretty poor script and sluggish direction, even though there are a couple of decent gags in there. It tries, but just too hard Nothing original here.

Really bad zombie comedy ripoff
DarianFisher10 June 2019
I was very generous in giving this movie 3 stars. It is a total Shaun of the Dead ripoff and I found maybe one or two funny parts.

It had no plot and the characters were just not funny or engaging. Lots of dumb toilet humor and I basically zoned out most of the movie since it didn't keep my attention.

Not worth your time.

something fishy
user-2778524 May 2019
I never review movies but I needed to for "shed of the dead": I agree with 2 of the reviewers, there is something wrong with most reviews. This movie is poorly written, the cast is meh, it's just vulgar at times, not funny (I mean not once), not clever. Someone wrote "it's not shaun of the dead" and well, it's clearly not; yet that flick gets about the same rating on average... yeah right 'cause that's believable. Do yourself a favor and watch something else, anything else really unless you need to watch every zombie movie out there.

I've seen worse films, but not many
jamesmcconnon1 August 2020
Very bad. Honestly, I love cheap trashy, fun horror films. Zombies vs Strippers, lesbian vampire slayers, killer clowns, I've loved them all. My standards are lower then Meliana Trump's. And even I thought this was a turgid piece of apple dung. Really, this was more boring then a Chris Martin sex tape.

Not recommended.

An honest review.
I can't believe all the 9 and 10 star reviews for this garbage. All posted by people who have never reviewed anything else. This is a lazy attempt to emulate the success of Shaun of the Dead. It doesn't have the character building, the comedy touches or the excellent acting of Shaun. Its shoddily put together, cheap looking and dull. The actors are instantly forgettable and shoehorning in a load of has been cameos doesn't help.

It had all the right ingredients for being amazing, but someone forgot to check the expiration date...

Right, well given the fact that this movie holds everything I enjoy, the recipe was ripe for a grand movie experience. I mean, it included roleplaying nerd stuff, it was a zombie movie, it had Kane Hodder and Bill Moseley on the cast list, so what could possibly go wrong?

Well, if you add in the factor that the movie had a horrible script and uninteresting characters, well, then chances are fairly big that the movie was going to be a suckfest. And so it was. I wanted to enjoy this movie, I so thoroughly wanted to enjoy this movie, but I just found no such thing here. And I ended up with my phone in hand, checking social media more than once throughout the course of "Shed of the Dead".

The script in "Shed of the Dead" was just so mundane and generic that it wasn't even fun to watch. The movie offered nothing that haven't already been seen many times before. But that wasn't really what killed off the movie, because many zombie movies are like that, but it was the horribly boring character gallery that finished it off. The characters had the appeal of wet cardboard. And, for me, it was only Kane Hodder and Bill Moseley that made it worth sitting through this ordeal of a movie, and they were hardly even supportive characters.

The zombie make-up was adequate, but don't expect to see ghastly gore and mutilation like in the likes of "The Walking Dead". No, "Shed of the Dead" is definitely not a massive budget movie, and it bears witness to that on the screen.

Even all the geeky appeal was drowned out in the rubbish of a flatlining story and script and indistinct characters that were as pointless as they were irrelevant.

"Shed of the Dead" is by no means a grand addition to the zombie genre, and it came and left without leaving much of a groan, and not even managing to take a bite. But hey, at least Hodder and Moseley were together on the screen again.

I was disappointed with this movie, I kid you not. I truly and honestly was. I had such hopes for this movie, none of which came to fruition. My rating of "Shed of the Dead" ends on a decomposing three fingers out of ten. Not even my fanboy zombie spirit got a jolt out of this one...

Shed of the Loser
gabriel_sanchez9 June 2019
Boring. I guess this is the word here.

It's hard to come up with legitimate complains when you go for a movie like this. This is a satiric take on Shaun of the Dead (2004) with no shame. Even the main characters are meant to look like Shaun and Ed. The main problem is that Shaun of the Dead was sort of funny, had some moral statements attached to it and some awesome visual shots; Shed of the Dead is downright boring and the take they went for is hard to take in. I had to do my best here to keep watching and, by the end, I was literally skipping bits so I could just finish the movie.

Trevor is a loser and Graham is a perv-loser. Actually, as I see, every character in this plot is a loser by all means. You don't get to like anyone.

Those fantasy parts of the movie are weird and adds nothings to the plot. It drags along for way too much. It should be left only at the beginning as some sort of nonsense filler, I don't know. Weird.

Overall, this movie is what one would call a cringefest of boredom.

Could have been worthwhile.....

Like the shuffling zombies that inhabit this black comedy this film simply takes far too long to get anywhere interesting.

Its a shame too as there are some capable English actors in this film and it certainly looked promising. Sadly its "dead slow" pacing and lack of genuine humour leave it feeling empty and aimless.

I watched two thirds and simply gave up. 4/10 from me.

Here's what's weird - so far of the only 6 reviews, each of the 6 reviewers signed up on the exact same day and this is the only title they have reviewed, isn't that weird?

All elements are there, just a sloppy execution
donttouchmeprimate29 May 2019
This has the heart of a great zombie film and it's clearly made with passion and love of horror/comedy movies, it just had a bunch of little things that point at either a rushed product or inexperience of the director. This meant that some scenes went on a little too long, weren't edited together to get the best result, and I have to admit, there were a bunch of scenes where the cast didn't even seem to try and 'act', just read the lines once, and move on.

A fun movie that just didn't quite reach its potential.

Lots of fun and recognisable faces show up on screen, so thats always nice. I even entered a contest recently to win some ps2 games on a show that emily booth used to present on named Bitz, turns our their AOL email adress is no longer active. So, no crash bandicoot for me I guess.

Gored for a laugh !
anthony_wakefield23 May 2019
I wonder if some people just can't be pleased or have so little going on in their lives they have to complain at the slightest opportunity. Either that or they hate anything that interferes with their "sit in the corner and whack off opinions about Shaun". Well Shed of the Dead is a fun, boyish, crude, and sometimes distinctly immature journey into a gaming geeks fantasy, about zombies, women, and heroic figures. It's a popcorn movie with crude jokes and knowing nods to all the films of influence that have come before. It won't win any oscars but then I doubt it ever intended to. Instead it just has fun, ramps up the adult humour, and dares to tread where Shaun didn't want, or have the cajones to. So instead of whining like spoilt little kids who won't share their toys, grab a handful of what masquerades as your manhood and lighten up ! Life is too short !

terrible
You should be wary of the positive reviews of this movie. The film is a blatant attempt to rip off the far superior Shaun Of The Dead, but it is made without a glimmer of the talent of the people behind Shaun. Drew Cullingham, who wrote and directed this, is no Edgar Wright, and the film fails in terms of story, scares or amusement. If only the people who made the film had put as much effort into the production as they did into the fake reviews.

How was this made?
flook7514 September 2020
Sometimes you watch a film and think to yourself who decided to invest in this rubbish movie.

It's completely unfunny, unoriginal, boring and just bizarre. There's more bits of the fantasy world then the real. These sequences just seen odd. And I'm not saying the removal would have made the film any better but would probably have been a improvement

Do not trust the fishy high reviews because I can guarantee they are fake. I'm being extremely generous not giving the film a 1 out of 10

Highly Unoriginal
nashw8229 August 2020
To be honest there are a lot of worse zombie movies out there, but apart for the table top gaming element and this is just so derivative of Shaun of the Dead that itself hard to have much respect for it. The characters were much more annoying therefore less interesting and whole it tried to be funny but there were no real laugh out loud moments. If you like yo watch a lot of zombie flicks then maybe check out but you'd be better off just watching the real Shaun of the Dead.

Lifeless and Lumbering
By-TorX-15 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Shed of the Dead promises to be a fun knockabout horror comedy, but just doesn't have the axe chops. The plot is positively shambling and the 'domestic comedy' is laboured (and mainly pretty awful). Indeed, some of the dialogue routines are painful, with flat, tonally out of sync deadpan verbal interplays and bickering between Trevor and Bobbi that are simply unfunny (with the writer assuming that Bobbi swearing a lot stands as a fine substitute for wit and well-conceived jokes). Aside from the obvious Shaun of the Deadisms, Cockneys vs. Zombies also got there first, and is also a much better film. A horror-comedy needs a good sense of pacing, and the numerous D&D fantasy sequences in Shed of the Dead just serve to slow everything down, and while I appreciate budget constraints, a narrative concerned with the fall of a major city to a zombie horde probably should feature more than 10 zombies. Also, the film adds nothing to zombie lore: the dead reanimate (for some reason), attack and consume the living, and their bite causes victims to turn into the voracious undead. It would be nice to see some variation on the theme, like zombies just wanting to play badminton, darts, or watch Strictly Come Dancing, and only becoming enraged when denied these desires. But, the film does have a setpiece scene that sees a character (The Office's Keith, no less!) fending off a zombie while Trevor scours the house for a pair of trousers before he can help. I'm sure it looked a riot on paper, and Brian Rix would probably have approved. Still, Emily Booth is good (with the zombie sex scene actually being somewhat amusing) and it is cool to see Kane Hodder, Michael Berryman and William Moseley lurking in UK horror antics (not forgetting the stentorian tones of Brian Blessed), but the film is mainly an ordeal.

A pathetic film
Stevieboy6666 September 2020
Shaun of the Dead was a brilliant movie but I can't believe that 15 years later insipid film makers are still churning out poor zombie comedies (or "zomedies") with silly titles, this sub genre is well and truly passed its sell by date. Credit here to them for signing up horror movie legends Bill Moseley, Kane Hodder and Michael Berryman, plus always a delight to see British Scream Queen Emily Booth. But that is the only positive on offer here, otherwise it's a terribly poor attempt at horror comedy, the dialogue belongs in the gutter, the acting is on the whole bad, especially the two main male characters, and it is utterly unoriginal. The end credits couldn't roll soon enough, a really bad movie with many dubious reviews on here.

Don't waste your time.

I was suspicious of the 9-10/10 ratings from new accounts aswell, and I can tell you there is no way that anyone thinks this movie is that good.

Mediocre at Best
CampyCampCamp7 September 2021
The director clearly lacks the skill set to take what could have been a decent, all be it copied plot, and elevate it to entertaining levels. The production company have clearly paid for a 1000+ 6 star ratings to boost the score.

The chap from The Office had his time in the aforementioned show and everything ever since has been a complete shambles. Sadly, a very poor writing attempt not helped by it being poorly produced. Basically it's terrible.

They Didn't look far before making this homage to zombie cinema, they're not ashamed though, a cartoon Simon Pegg's in the credits so they knew what they were doing. I'm sceptical of Brit/comedy-horror, but this wasn't, & I'm choosing my words carefully here, not awful.

A poor mans rip-off of Shaun of the Dead, and amateur in every aspect. Script, acting, sound and lighting were all incompetent. There is nothing salvageable about this movie.

A zombie movie that can keep is severed head up with the best of them
dmoore-2999421 May 2019
Give this movie a chance! It does wear on its sleeve it's influence which is Sean of the Dead, but don't be deterred. At only 85 minutes long it does not out stay its welcome like some big screen movies. The story revolves around Trevor and his love of Role playing games , and where he spends most of his time painting his figurines- The allotment shed. Then the Zombie apocalypse starts. From then on it's a race to save himself and the life he knows! With cracking performances from the four lead Spencer Brown, Ewan Mackintosh, Emily Booth and Lauren Socha. Ably supported by Horror legends Bill Moseley, Kane Hodder and Michael Berryman,. This is one crazy movie where English non-sensibilities merge with American Zombie shows. It's a good way to spend an hour and a half, you won't be disappointed.

Has lots of good moments and is a decent zombie comedy. I loved the bit with the cowboy serial killer talking about what was in his bags, "if you soak them in vinegar long enough, just like calamari" and when he said "dead dead". Also the end music really reminded me of Paul Simon?!

cheap, lazy, derivative and boring
simonpcpearson2 June 2019
There is little good to say about this film. Shoehorning a load of aging z-list horror people into a lazy script that thinks casual misogyny is funny is never going to be entertaining. The script is dire, the acting meh and the entire thing looks cheap. The main feeling I had while watching this was of vague embarrassment, like watching a bad comedian fail on stage. The humour is like that of a schoolboy who hasn't yet lost his virginity..stupid and facile. Emily Booth is too long in the tooth for this kind of role nowadays.
