Maria Baez, Danny's partner, steals the show!!
stgxttcp11 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Marissa Ramirez (Maria) puts on an acting clinic and steals the show, my heart went out to her and I genuinely choked up and ached for her loss.

Tense and truly believable acting from the Sargent of precinct 12 lays it down hard, honestly, and quite frankly on Commissioner Reagan concerning one of his cops innocence.

Power to the police! Commissioner gives a riveting speech to the press about defending Lt. MacCarthy's actions, yet understanding where errors were made. Someone had died and it was suggested they could have secured the scene.

Jamie puts on a real sad, yet proud moment when he realises he has to put distance between himself and his partner during their off hours. I really felt how it was eating him up inside, yet stepping through the process so convincingly cool.

Nice Kickoff to Season 5

Warning: Spoilers
I'm up to season 5 on my binge of this show and from what I can tell so far, the look of the show is already a bit different from past years. I thought they did a nice job mixing up the camera angles in the action sequences to give that feel on intensity. The one thing I did not understand about this episode (SPOILER) is the part of about the leak inside the DEA. I know there are always leaks on this show, but the connection with this one was weak IMO. You mean to tell me that the DEA would not know that one of their employees posted bail for of the drug dealers - but the NYPD figured it out? You'd think the agency would be aware of that kind of thing.

Warning: Spoilers
In this series opener, the mayor and Frank soon are at odds over an incident where a veteran police officer had a deranged man maced as he was posing a danger to the public. This procedure led to a fatal accident and the mayor is quick to condemn the officer. Frank shows that he is all out for his men.

In this episode we also see sexism when Jaime comes to the defense of his female partner who is roughed up while attempting to arrest a perpetrator. Jaime really lets loose on the guy. Is it because he felt that his partner, as a female, couldn't handle the situation or does he have feelings for her?

Danny and Baez go after drug smugglers and it is determined that her rogue brother has become an FBI informant. His taking of a fatal bullet at the end of the episode brings her into the usual acting hysterics.

bad premiere for a pretty good show
imonlymyself511 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Crazy guy at start of the show wouldn't have been handled that way. Specially as soon as he spit at a pedestrian. Most states (if not all now) consider spitting as assault. He would have been taken down to ground right away. He didn't have any type of weapon to endanger himself or others so the police would have just grabbed him, pulled him down and onto ground. (BTW, what police officer carries a hand held Taser?? They've been carrying gun tasers for a few years now.) The entire Jaime and Jenko scene was far bogus as well. AS soon as he start pushing on Jenko she would have gotten more aggressive. If she even got pushed on the ground, all the officers at scene would have just taken him to the ground. Not stand there starring and barely moving.

For a season premiere i was disappointed in the unrealistic events in the show. All shows have it, but to make all 3 main stories of the show all so far fetched to make the drama is a tad over played. Specially for a premiere. I sure hope it gets better as season goes on. I'm sure it will. Its not like the show hasn't had bad eggs thru-out the 1st 4 seasons.

The show continues to spiral down
robertdlar8 January 2024
Not going to spoil the episode, everthing I will talk about happened before the credits. I will double down on another reviewer. The scene with the crazed man was just stupid. Does this show even have a police adviser? They used to, but they clearly are ignoring them. Police would only use a taser on an armed perp, they would have tried to take him down physically. Also the vehicle coming out of no where is impossible as the cops also would have blocked off traffic and stopped it going both ways.

The other incident involved officer Janko, who is 5 foot 4 and maybe 100 pounds soaking wet, trying to handle a 160+ pound angry muscle bound man. If anyone has seen even TWO police body cam videos (I have seen thousands) they would tell you even a 200 pound officer would have a hard time subduing a perp of any size and strength!!! If you think you can do it alone you are watching WAY too much TV. The very IDEA that Janko felt she could handle him alone is pure Hollywood fantasy. You will NEVER find a cop of any sice or strength that would refuse help in taking down a perp.

This show used to be pretty good in its portrayal of police work but it has jumped the Shark.
