Witch Hunt a great Psychological horror
howlingmadhawk14 June 2016
I just saw the film Witch Hunt and I was very impressed. The story was very interesting focusing on the questions of homosexuality and faith. It was very artistically filmed and had a lot of atmosphere unlike a lot of other films that you find in the independent field that focus on horror. While it had some great horror shots they are not over done or schlocky. It focused on story not the spectacle which I enjoyed. Tony Ramos Wright was wonderful as the evil Sheriff Tromada and brought a lot of relish to his role. Rick Chandler and Carver Riot really had a lot of chemistry which transferred on screen and made their dynamic as the Witch Hunters a lot of fun to watch.

Burn after viewing

Warning: Spoilers
A small town has issues with witches who are after the humans because "they drew first blood." A witch hunter from Eastern Europe with an Amish hat along with his sister-wife heroin user hunt the evil witches.

The film is very low budget. It is typical of the Ed Wood quality productions by Richard Chandler. The acting, characters, and sound track were horrible. Some scenes were campy such as the switchblade sister. Might want to take a pass.

Guide: F-word. Sex, nudity.

Unwatchable

I make it a rule never to watch a movie starring its director. This one got me anyhow and wow, it's a great example of why I have this rule.

The acting is amateurish at best. The dialogue is hilariously stilted. The script veers into incoherence on more than one occasion. Then, just when I thought it was over, it kept tacking on more WTF moments, culminating in a cheesy lullaby set for some reason in 2036.

Avoid with extreme prejudice. It's all kinds of terrible.

Get in on the Witch Hunt!

This independent film was very well written and edited, and the actors gave excellent performances! Just from the opening credits the soundtrack was amazing. Even though it's a short film, each character has their own unique story line that they do an excellent job of bringing to life for the audience. Without giving out spoilers, this well written story may not be for the faint of heart, or the uptight or easily offended. There are some graphic scenes and effects that were well done. The costuming of the main characters was also very cool and unique. If you want to be on the edge of your seat, hold on to your hat and enjoy the 'Witch Hunt'!
